Chapter 66 New threat

Chapter 66 New threat
Uriel's POV

"No, I'm not talking to you." Shaking my head, I glared down at Emma.

I didn't even know how she found out where I was working.

When I heard someone was specifically looking for me at table 7, I was surprised because no one knew me too well here.

"You don't want dad knowing that his favorite child is hiding something big from him, do you?" Emma spoke nonchalantly, inspecting her nails.

My whole body froze for a while as I processed her words carefully.

She...she was threatening me?

Wait?

How can she - what is she even talking about?

Curiously, I crouched down slowly until my ass touched the seat. My waiting shift was to end in 25 minutes and so far, I had attended to all available customers.

Well, except this one - my sister.

"What's this, Emma?" I frowned, eyeing her up and down from where I sat.

"I need money." She said, her tone hard and eyes narrowed at me, telling me that she wasn't giving me an option here.

"And does this place look like your fucking piggy bank?" Irritation was evident in my voice as I gritted out through my teeth.

I still wasn't getting it

"Kinda. You work here and you earn from here and you're my sister, so, I need money, Uriel."

"Call your mother! Doesn't she give you her card whenever you want something? What changed?" Scoffing, I folded my hand across my chest, pushing myself backward until my back touched the couch.

"Ah. I knew you'd want to do it the hard way." Emma's lips lifted into a sinister smirk. Cold shivers slithered down my back, causing me to sit straight.

"What are you -"

"Mum is cheating on dad." She started, pouting. "And I, Emma had no idea at all..." She paused, looking at me. Even her eyes couldn't hide the lies.

Of course, she knew.

God, what was she driving at here?

"But guess who has known for a long time?" She raised her eyebrow at me, "you, Uriel."

"I... I just found out few weeks ago. I bet you knew from the very first day your mother started this whole nonsense, stop lying." I eyed her up and down, confusion etched on my face.

She rolled her eyes, "anyway, I'm going to tell dad."

"What?"

"You heard me. I'm going to tell dad that mum has been cheating on him for a long while and his perfect little daughter has known for as long as that too but has kept it a secret from him, not caring about him at all." Emma grinned wickedly.

All colors drained from my face as I stared at Emma in shock. She wouldn't do that, I thought to myself.

Scoffing, I shook my head at her. "You're just bluffing. You can't do that."

"You think?"

"I know, Emma. Try something else please." I stood up, glaring down at her in mockery. "You can't throw your mother under the bus like that. You know she'll kill you."

"You're so slow." Emma chuckled, throwing her head backward. Now, I was cold again. "Darling, I'll be helping your mother out here."

Huh?

My mouth slightly parted as I stared at her in disbelief.

"How do you think she feels having to be the breadwinner huh? How long do you think she'll be able to keep up? Do you not think a day will come where she'll want to end it?" Emma stood up as well, placing her hand on my shoulder. "I'll just be doing her a favor, dear."

I shrugged her hand off my shoulder, frowning at her.

"Dad loves her."

"Dad is crippled, financially castrated and can barely function his manly duty on bed. He's a fucking vegetable and ... Mum is tired." Emma pouted. "It's only going to be sad that you'll have to be the one to cause the break up."

"No, no, no. You can't do that." I begged immediately, my heart racing.

I couldn't risk my dad getting mad at me for something that was already pre-planned.

"Words, words, words. You know what to do, Uriel." Emma opened her palm, smirking.

"I don't -"

"Alright, that's fine." She picked her bag. "It's due time dad and I bond over a little conversation."

"I only have tips on me! I only get paid a day after my shift." My voice came out forced and choked - from pent up tears.

"I'll take it. I know you'll have a lot of tips anyway. You're a pretty girl." Emma smiled sweetly at me, acting like she meant what she was saying.

Tears brimmed my eyes as I glared at my so-called sister. With shaky hands, I slipped my hand into my apron to get all the tips before handing it over to her.

"I hope this is all, Uriel." Emma's eyes widened as she greedily collected all the cash from me.

"It's everything." I spat with disdain.

After she had chucked it in her bag, she sighed, placing her hand on her chest. "Are you not just a caring sis? Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

In other words, I was fucked.

That meant that I had to tell my dad as soon as possible.

But what if this was also a set up to bring the marriage to ruin.

Why were they trying so hard to put me in the middle of every bad thing.

Panting, I let my body fall to the chair tiredly. Slowly, I bent my head down to the table, letting the tears break loose.

"Are you okay, Uri?" I heard one of my colleague's voice call out to me.

Sniffling, I raised a thumb.

I felt her hand on my shoulder, rubbing softly for a while and then minutes later the sound of her footsteps retreating, filled my eardrum.

After giving few more minutes to myself, I wiped my tears and headed back to check out for the day. Everyone seemed to have noticed my red eyes, so they didn't question me much.

They just let me go.

"Take it easy." The door man said to me as I walked past him. Forcing a smile at him, I nodded.

The minute I stepped out of the cafe, my eyes met with this dark green ones who stood feets away from me, beside his car.

His eyes turned to a darker shade when they connected with mine. They roamed up and down my body, scrutinizing me.

I tried to lift my lips but I couldn't. Without waiting one more second, my legs moved until they got to him. He didn't even wait for me to even breath as he threw his hands around me, pulling me into him.

"Ry, please get me away from here. Far far from here." My voice came out cracked, my hands tightening around his torso.

"Your wish is my command, Kinky." He pushed me back softly, staring at my face for a while before leading me to the passenger's seat and helping me inside.

He didn't further any conversation, nor ask me anything. My heart did a happy leap when I felt his hand on my thigh, speaking softly to my soul, 'I'm here' .

Honestly, that was all I needed.

"I won't hear you... Do it." Was all he said as he raised up the volume of the song that played in the radio.

Chuckling, I shook my head but I didn't reduce it either.

The tears had stopped coming but my heart still felt heavy because I knew what I was in for - the silent battle between opening up to my dad and being blackmailed and financially ripped off by Emma, using this news.

After a while, Ryder spoke, "tears don't look good on those pretty blue eyes, you know?"

Biting my lips, I turned to look out, finding him already looking at me.

"Don't hold it. Ah, I see it coming. Is that red? Or pink?"

"Stop!" A small grin broke out of my lips, my cheek heating up.

"Now, that's my Uriel." He placed his hand under my chin, staring deep into my eyes, "don't let them take your smile away from you, Kinky. Promise me."

"It's hard, Ry." My eyes softened as I stared into his eyes, "but I'll try."

He nodded softly, squeezing my thigh. "Tell me when you want me to take you home okay? Tell me anything you want."

Sighing, I spoke up, "I think I want to see my dad."

"Sure?"

"Mhm-hmm."

"Daddy Uriel it is." He joked, making me laugh. I placed my hand on his hand that rested on my thigh, squeezing tight too.

He sang to me as he drove me home, cracking me up and turning me into his cheerleader - well, his voice was too good to not cheer

When we got to my house, his hand curled around my thigh like he wasn't ready to let go. I wanted to ask him to stay but I felt like I was running faster than my shadow.

"I guess I'll see you."

"You still want to see me after you ratted us out?" He teased.

"Blame it on my sleepyhead!"

"Damn right." He chuckled lowly, leaning closer. "Don't miss me too much tonight." His lips touched my cheek softly, lingering there for a while before pulling away.

"You're so cheesy!" Blushing, I pushed him away.

"Oh wow!"

"But I like it!" I hurriedly said, pulling him back to me by his shirt.

"Oh, I know you do." He placed a chaste kiss on my lips, tapping my nose lightly before pulling away. "I'm one call away, remember?"

"Thank you, Ry."

He waited until I got to my door before driving away slowly. Sighing heavily, my hand twisted the door knob with so much dread.

Being home felt like a herculean task these days. It sucked

My breath was quickly knocked out my lungs once I heard my dad's voice boom from where he sat quietly, staring at me with heavy eyes,

"Why didn't you tell me, Uriel?"

Oh no!

No, no, no.

Noooooooooo, Emma. No.
