Chapter 6 Stranger
Uriel's POV
I went ahead and added more fuel to the fire.
Fuck me.
"Why's everyone staring at me?" I asked, walking into the hallway with just Kathie.
Chloe and Lance were coming late today. Chloe had a bad hair day and so she had to visit a salon first while Lance was preparing himself for his presentation.
"And it definitely doesn't look like those honorific look. You know, the one you get when you do something good." Kathie took the words right out of my mouth.
So, I was seeing correctly.
" To think I could've sworn on her behalf that she wasn't like that. " A girl said, shoving past me after casting me a judge-y look
My heart rummaged hard in my chest.
"It's out, Kathie." My words came out too late because Kathie had already pushed the door open, exposing us to the wolves.
" She's here! "
" Ryder and Uriel? I'm impressed. Maybe she begged him to snatch her virginity. "
I gasped, eyeing the girls that said that.
"I did no such." I defended immediately.
"Well, well, well... If it isn't our celebrity of the week. You sure made a name for yourself with Ryder." Dennis approached us, his usual cocky friends behind him.
"Why? Why me, Dennis?" I frowned at him, standing face to face with him. Though he was slightly taller.
Just very slight height difference.
"You mean, why did I tell the school the truth about you? A shady, dirty nerd."
I raised my hand up, smacking the shit out of his face. "You don't get to talk to me like that."
His eyes turned red, his nose flaring. "Did you just lay your fingers at me?"
People had gathered around, raising their phones up to video.
Dennis licked his lips, nodding as he stared at the students. "We'll see around. You'd regret this."
"Dennis, I'm sorry. I didn't -"
"Girl, no. You did great." Kathie held my hand, stopping me from going after him.
I had made myself a target. That, I knew.
Way to go, girl.
"Uriel! My office, now!" Principal yelled from the end of the hallway.
Here we go.
"Oops." Kathie rubbed my hand soothingly. "I'll wait for you okay? You won't face this alone."
"Don't miss class, Kathie. I got this." I forced a smile on my lips. She shook her head, following me to the principal's office.
Emma eyed me up and down, closing the principal's door behind her.
"Good luck with that, baby sis." She chuckled darkly. "Can't wait to have free golden pack lunch for making a lucky guess."
My mouth fell open, my eyes growing wide.
"You..."
"Inside, Ms. Uriel!"
Clenching my fist, I glanced at her one more time. How did I get unlucky to have such sister?
"Can you explain this, Ms. Uriel." The principal placed his phone, swiping up to reveal another one.
A new picture of us taken yesterday at the hallway.
I fucking knew Dennis would follow us.
"I... Ryder and I were just talking. I swear, we aren't fucking around or -"
"Language!" He scolded, taking his phone back. "I'm forced to report to your parents."
"No!" I said immediately, shaking my head. "I'll sort this out. I promise."
His cologne was different today. It was more feminine and it was all over him.
I didn't know why I was noticing this.
"If this prolongs, I'm calling her without your consent. I won't be held responsible for naughty students fondling with their private parts." He eyed me, going back to his seat.
"I didn't -"
"Take your explanation out of my office, Uriel. I don't have the desire to hear it. I have pressing issues at hand." He dismissed me, waving at me to go.
The back of my eyes pricked me. I bit my lips, marching out of his office.
I wasn't even surprised he was like this. He never listened to student except your parents were stinking rich or you had anything good to offer.
"I guess that went well?" Kathie looped her arms around mine.
I shrugged, not wanting to talk so I didn't cry.
The rest of the day went by slowly and painfully tormenting as I got to hear a snide comment wherever I turned to.
It was sickening.
My peace was gone.
Only Ryder could restore it back.
Speaking of which, I hadn't seen him today.
Thought this wasn't new for him? How come he was running?
"Are you okay? I heard what happened." Chloe pulled me in for a hug, almost suffocating me with her expensive perfume.
"I'm good. I didn't do anything so I don't feel anyhow at all." I lied perfectly, slapping a smile to sell the lie.
"Of course. You're the strong one. I'd be bawling my eyes out by now." Chloe chuckled.
"I swear." Kathie concurred.
The hallway door opened, gaining everyone's attention.
" It's Ryder! "
My heart quaked on hearing his name. My eyes grew dark.
"Uriel. Uriel listen to me." Kathie tried to hold me but I wasn't listening.
He was going to fix this right now.
I stormed down to where he stood, chatting with few guys. When he saw me, he raised his eyebrow at me.
I could feel everyone's eyes on us now. Perfect timing.
"Tell everyone the truth about that day. About yesterday!"
"Cock so good, you went back yesterday?" A guy spat from the corner, earning a laughter from the rest.
Ryder glared at him and immediately, his face turned serious.
"Why would I do that? Don't they already have a picture of what happened?" Ryder looked down at me, placing his hand on my shoulder.
Shoving it away, I sneered. "You know the picture doesn't portray the truth, Ryder. Tell everyone that we didn't do anything."
Please.
His jaw ticked. His eyes moved up to the curious eyes and then dropped down to mine, a smirk on his face.
"I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't lie to them." He held my chin, leaning down.
My body froze.
"T..this is serious, Ryder." I scoffed, pushing him away.
He caught onto my waist, pulling me close. He was so shameless, touching me like this in front of everyone.
Knowing fully well that he was giving them an impression.
To think he had changed.
Urgh!
I struggled to get out of his grip but he was too strong. He leaned his face down to the side of my hair.
"Don't drag me into this. Fix your shit, stranger."
I bit my lips, my breath ragged. He patted my cheek, walking away.
Making a fool of me. Again.
