Chapter 55 Molly

Chapter 55 Molly
Ryder's POV

Uriel was that girl.

Somehow, she was the only one who could call me out of that dark hole I always found myself and it scared the shit out of me

It was her ability to see through me before the game and in the game.

I really didn't know what would've became of me if she wasn't there.

If she hadn't called out my name

If she hadn't cheered me up.

Now she was standing in front of me, questioning her beauty and damn, I just wanted to slam her mouth shut...

With my lips pressed against hers, of course.

But I couldn't...

She was supposed to be off-limit.

Why, you may ask?

Because she was too good for me; Because she didn't deserve to be dragged into the shit hole I was in.

Because I didn't want her to save me.

Or maybe I did.

I just didn't feel deserving and she made me feel that way, much to my dismay

"Come on, I'm waiting for your reply here." She pouted, folding her hand over her chest

How do you tell someone that they look perfect without sounding like a love-sick prick?

First of all, I do not love Uriel.

And I didn't also want to give her any impression that said such.

I don't even think I can love anyone at all. I thought.

Not after my mother.

Not when...

"Right. I'll just change." She rolled her eyes, flipping her hair as she turned around.

I was quick to catch onto her wrist, raising my eyebrow at her.

"You couldn't look better?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" Her brows furrowed.

God.

She was going to make me say it.

"The..." I swallowed hard, my eyes raking up and down her body, spotting out a few faults here and there.

Like how her stomach was showing, or how the skin tight was way too lapping on her skin, highlighting her curves.

Possessive much?

My head mocked.

In my defense though, I was just looking out for her.

"You look just like every teenage girl." I settled for this lie instead.

"But..."

"And we're leaving." Lacing my hands with hers, I pulled her away with me, ignoring how hard my heart thrashed in my chest.

She didn't argue with me any further. In fact, I hear a soft sigh leave her lips once I laced my hand with hers.

"Can I drink?" She asked out of the blue, taking me unawares.

"If you promise to only drink what I give you, then yes."

The party wasn't so far from the hotel where we lodged. It was a stone throw. Figuratively though.

"I promise." She squeezed my hand, leaning closer as she smiled up at me.

I bit my lips, stopping the creepy smile that was about to break out.

What was wrong with me?

Okay, okay... It was the adrenaline from winning.

\-°-

Twenty minutes into the party and I had managed to survive the loud noise, despite my head banging after the first five minutes.

Uriel was interacting with other team members, smiling a little too annoyingly.

Frowning, I twirled a stick of cigarette between my fingers.

She didn't like it when I smoked.

But hell, she was smiling with other guys. You don't hear me complaining

Then smoke, Ryder.

Still, I couldn't.

"Hey pretty boy." A girl sat beside me, placing a cup in my hand. "For you."

"Sorry, I don't take drinks from strangers." My tone was blunt, my eyes still trained on Uriel as she tapped Michael's chest, laughing hard.

What was even funny?

"Ohh. That's your girl?"

My face turned rigid, my heart beat so loud that it echoed in my ear

Do I say yes or no?

"She's -" the words got stuck in my throat when Uriel turned in time to look at me. Her smile fell instantly, her eyes glaring daggers at the girl.

"I think I better get going. But if you need me..." She trailed her hand up and down my chest but then I held it, my eyes not leaving Uriels', "I'll be around, pretty boy."

As she stood up to leave, Uriel marched towards my table. "Gaining female attraction already?"

"Enjoy laughing to male jokes?" I shot back, my tone a bit harsh.

She flinched back, a small smile creeping up her lips seconds later. "I'll take this from you."

Before I could stop her, she had already downed the content of the drink down her throat.

Shit.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked, her eyes flickering between the cup and I. "You still wanted it? Come on, it's nice to share. It's my first alcohol for the night."

And you don't know if it's drugged.

"It was never -"

"You two! Come dance." Tim pulled me, while Michael pulled Uriel up as well.

Then they both turned us to face each other, pushing us closer.

Sly fucking bastards.

"Hit the music!!!" Someone yelled.

"To the winning partners." Another cheered.

My shoulder tensed, my hand sweaty. Uriel and I glanced at each other, cluelessness evident in our eyes and actions.

Sighing, I pulled her closer by her waist. Maybe, a little tighter. My body physically relaxed when she wrapped her hands around my neck, looking up at me.

"Look who can't get enough of me. Did you put them up to this?" I teased, rocking her back and forth as the song began to play - slow and sensual.

"You're overthinking things now." She chuckled, resting her head on my chest afterwards.

We danced together in each other's arms, our heart beating rhythmically as one.

"Fuck, my head feels so heavyyy. What's happening?" Uriel clutched my shirt, smiling at me weirdly. "Oh hey, you're so handsome today." She tapped my face.

So it was Molly then.

"We should get you home." I chuckled, holding her close to me as I led her out.

Walking back with a high teenager was one of the longest walk in my life. She literally cooed at everything, wanting to run off or cry to get something.

Hence why we clung onto a big bear she saw outside a shop.

"Yay! Back to our room. Can we say we've slept with each other now?" She pouted, throwing off her shoes lazily.

"No." I shook my head, chuckling.

"But we have." She frowned. "You and me. Bed."

"Well, technically but you know how - nevermind, you're high."

She held my hand, pulling me to the bed with her. "Let's do it again. I love it when you sleep with me. I love it when you touch me, Ryder. It's so warm."

She fluttered her eyes at me, kneeling on the bed while I stood by the edge, my eyes growing wide

Okay maybe I was enjoying how outspoken this high Uriel was.

"This is our last night anyway. One last time can't kill." I told her, climbing with her.

She grinned widely, curling into my body. "Don't tell anyone though but you make me feel things I haven't felt before."

My heart froze for a minute. When I looked down at her, her eyes were closed.

"My heart flaps so fast when you touch me in some way. My head... I don't know how to explain it to you. It's just new and I think I'm buying into it."

She opened her big blue eyes, staring at me softly. "Do you feel new too?" She asked.

My mouth was dry.

"What? You don't like me anymore?" She straddled me, rocking her hips forward. "But you said you liked me that day. Can't you remember?"

"I... I do."

"So?"

So, what?

Who was this girl?

"People that like each other kiss. So, kiss me Ryder." She held my face in her hand, staring into my eyes.

The minute I heard those words, it was as though my soul left my body.

What the fuck?

"You shouldn't say things you don't mean, Kinky?" My voice was low and dangerous.

She rocked her hips subconsciously, into me. Groaning, I placed my hands on her waist.

"Are you going to kiss me now?" Her eyes flickered between my eyes and lips. "I want this."

My teeth grinded against each other as I fought everything in me that wanted to pull her face forward and kiss the shit out of that pretty mouth of hers.

Why was she looking extra hot, staring at me with those dark eyes?

"I want this too." I whispered lowly, leaning closer. She brought her hand to my neck, wrapping firmly.

"But not when you're high and intoxicated." My thumb grazed her cheek.

Her eyes turned sad instantly, making me heart ache.

Shit.

No, no.

Don't do that.

So I pulled her face closer until our lips where inches from meeting, then softly, I pressed my lips to the corner of her mouth.

"Some day, I might have the courage to kiss those fucking pretty lips."

"I promise"
