Chapter 43 The real culprit

Chapter 43 The real culprit
Uriel's POV

"Look at you. Poor girl." Emma cooed, dragging a chair to my desk.

The scraping sound of metals, tingled my ears making me wince. My eyes turned to her, glaring daggers at her.

"Why are you here, Emma?"

"Can't I keep my sister company anymore?" She smiled, tapping her nails on the table.

"I don't need your company." I told her plainly.

"I see. You know, I really wanted to help you out." She started, folding her arms.

Rolling my eyes, I opened a fresh page on my note, sketching out something.

It was one of those useless art piece I did in my free time.

"Being a virgin is so old school! I wanted to you feel like a woman." Emma cooed, her voice both fake-sweet and sinister.

The pen suddenly felt too stiff in my hand. My ears perked up, waiting to hear more.

"It's unfortunate that Chase didn't do it how I wanted him to. You know, take it gently and all that. He was supposed to take you out, start with a kiss and you -"

My eyes widened. A loud gasp escaped my lips, expressing my shock.

"Emma!"

"What? You should be thanking me!" She frowned. "I figured you may be craving Ryder for that purpose and thought I'd help you take care of it."

With force, I stood up. My eyes narrowed at hers, my face scrunching up in disgust.

"You disgust me, Emma." My eyes fluttered uncontrollably, regulating the tears that threatened to pour. "How could you do this to me?"

She stood up, chuckling nervously, "you don't want people hearing your voice, Uriel."

"Let them hear how you engaged a guy to molest your so-called sister!" I yelled, not minding if anyone could truly hurt me.

For the past two weeks, I had soaked my pillow every night, wondering why someone could be so cruel to want to hurt me that way.

Wondering where I went wrong in life.

Wondering why my life was so different.

Each day I walked into the school building, my heart bled from the not-so-quiet mockery of how I still had my v-card.

Some even called me a pretender and liar and accused Ryder for trying to cover me.

Speaking of Ryder, he was no longer active in school activities. Since then, I hadn't seen him in school and that should make me happy because I don't think I'd be able to stand him...

But somehow, it worried me.

My heart sank whenever I turned back, not finding him.

Chase was hospitalized and I heard his parents were going to press charges. That scared me a lot.

I didn't have the luxury to engage in a suit.

And now, to find out that my sister...

I swallowed the nausea back into my stomach, my nose flaring. My eyes red.

With firm voice, I sneered, "You're really a devil. I hate you so fucking much."

"Makes us two!" She yelled, huffing.

There was no point in starting up a fight with her. She knew how to manipulate things and next minute, I'd be the bad egg for accusing my sister wrongly

Somehow, the principal favoured her...

Maybe because she was one of the brightest students.

As if.

Brightest student, my ass.

Every grade Emma had, I did it.

But of course, it was never enough for her.

She needed to see me miserable.

I wiped my tears as I walked through the door, running to the only place that I could call my safe space.

Silently, I'd anticipate Ryder's coming but he never came.

Chloe said he probably was feeling bad and it made me chuckle.

Ryder and feeling negative emotions... Nahhh.

They don't corelate.

My breath was suddenly knocked off my lungs as I held the door open, staring into those dark emerald green eyes.

Swiftly, he pulled his hood over his head, walking towards me with his face pinned to the ground.

"Move." He growled lowly at me.

I blinked blankly, my throat stitched from inside.

He raised his head up, his eyes dark and tired. "I said, move."

Frowning, I shut the door behind me. "No. You don't get to be mad, Ryder."

"Uriel, I'm not -"

"No, you listen to me." I pointed at him, walking closer. My chest heaved up and down, my insides shaking. The tears were brewing up. "You don't know how it feels to be laid open in front of your enemies. You don't know how it feels to be constantly bullied!"

His throat bobbed up and down but his eyes were bland and void of emotions, like that of a robots'.

"You don't know how it feels to be let down by people who are supposed to protect you!" I screamed, letting out my frustration.

He scoffed, throwing his face to the side as he tucked his hand into his pocket.

"This is funny to you?" I eyed him up and down. "You don't feel remorse, do you?"

"Why?! Was I wrong for trying to defend you? If so, then forgive me Uriel as that's the fucking last time I'd ever do that." His voice rose up, making me flinch.

"You -"

"You've said enough, Uriel. You've talked and I have listened." He raised his hands up. "You and I..." He pointed between us, "we can't."

"We can't?" I raised my eyebrow in confusion.

"We can't speak to each other any more. You cause trouble and I cause trouble. And also...don't you ever stand in your own bubble and assume shits you don't know." He pointed, covering up the space.

"You know nothing about me, Kennedy. Nothing at all." He sneered in my face, his voice as hard as steel.

"You're right." I said coldly. His eyes widened for a split second, a bit startled by my response. "You cause trouble for me. A lot."

He rolled his eyes, walking past me, his shoulder brushing off against mine - hard. The door creaked slowly but stopped shortly after. Our eyes moved until they locked against each other - his, icy cold.

His jaw tightened for a split second, then he growled lowly, "You know my secret, don't you Kennedy?"

My eyebrow perked up in confusion.

Where was he going with this?

"You can ...even it out." He shrugged nonchalantly.

I gasped.

Even it out. My mind repeated.

How did I not think of that?

"Yeahhh." I nodded slowly, my eyes void of emotion, "I should."

For that one moment, his guard slipped revealing the fear in his eyes.

"Good luck."
