Chapter 34 My girl
Uriel's POV
"You should follow real men." Chase advised. "Men who would treat you nice, not the ones who would treat you like trash."
"And who could you be talking about?" My voice came out offended. I couldn't help it.
"Ryder, of course." Chase scoffed. "I don't know why you keep following him, like a puppet."
I paused, frowning at him.
"Sorry. I didn't mean it that way. I just ... I just don't like the way he treats you. Look, if you let me be close to you, you'd not need Ryder." Chase spoke, closing the door behind us.
I didn't need any of them.
I believed I'd see my ideal man in college, date, get married and have beautiful kids.
Oh and he was going to be an athlete.
Why does that sound like a certain someone?
Excuse you, brain? You too?
"I'm just with Ryder because your Principal feels like it's the right thing to do. My grades are tied to Ryder." I sighed weakly, shaking my head. "You wouldn't get it."
Chase frowned slightly, looking at me for a while before walking away.
I followed despite having my mind tell me to run.
"Hey. What can I offer you?" A girl said, smiling brightly at Chase. The neckline of her dress dropped down, revealing a good amount of flesh.
Chase eyes lit up. "Heyyyyy."
I looked between them, rolling my eyes. He placed our order and walked me back to our seat.
"So, like I was saying. I don't mean to brag but I am the best fit for you." He stated like he was applying for a job.
Oh yeah, a job to my heart?
No doubt, Chase was good looking.
He just wasn't my type.
Oh you have a type that ain't nerds? My inner voice mocked.
Shut up.
"You see..."
"I'll be back." Chase quickly stood up, walking up to that same girl.
Right.
Best fit indeed.
My face crunched up in disgust as I watched him bring out his phone, sliding it to her. She bit her lips seductively, punching the screen.
Hurriedly, I brought out my phone texting "Help me!" Alongside a location to my friend. My eyes stayed glued to Chase, so I could know when he's coming back.
I hid my phone back as he approached me, smiling innocently.
"Sorry, I had to add an order."
A human order.
"That's cool." I smiled brightly.
"You know, I think you're very cool and would want to spend much time getting to know the real you. In and Out."
A cold shiver slithered down my back. One of pure disgust.
You better come save me, Chloe.
Or Kathie.
"So, would - "
"Mind if we join this wonderful date?" Ryder spoke, his hand wrapped around a girl's shoulder.
My eyebrow knotted in confusion.
"What are you doing here?" Chase and I asked in unison. Chase stood up, glaring at him.
Ryder gave me some look but it didn't last long. Instead, he sat down, acting indifferent.
"So... What are we eating? Bills on Chase, Achiever's high team captain." Ryder taunted. "Top boy."
I held Chase's hand, silently begging him not to react.
He looked at me, then at the girl Ryder brought and then sat down.
"Hi, I'm Chase." He introduced himself, holding her hand for a while. She giggled, introducing herself
My eyes were boring deep into Ryder's soul, I could barely hear the girl.
For what it was worth though, I was grateful he came to my rescue.
Few minutes into eating and I saw the girls arm move back and forth under the table. My eyes moved to Ryder, scrutinizing him.
His dark eyes were on me, not moving away.
I shifted uncomfortably, unable to ignore the girls hand movement. Wasn't it disgusting to do these things outside?
So I dropped my fork to the ground, quickly bending under the table to peep.
Chase and the girl adjusted their legs immediately. Then, her hands were on Ryder's knee. She just rubbed his thighs.
Sighing in relief, I sat up.
"Uhh... I need to go pee." The girl said, standing up. Ryder nodded, smirking cockily.
"I think I'm pressed too." Chase stood up as well, placing a kiss on my temple.
When he left, I cleaned that spot.
"What? Couple fight?" Ryder mocked.
"We... I thought you're with my sister?" I folded my arms, leaning backwards. My appetite was gone for the second time that day.
"So, are you going to tell on me?" He leaned forward, his eyes locked onto mine. "Would you also tell on yourself?"
"You..." I pointed at him
"Let's leave." Ryder stood up, his voice hard.
"Huh? What about Chase and your girl?" I pointed towards the direction they both entered.
He raised his eyebrow at me, "are you dumb?"
I opened my mouth to counter him but then finally got it.
Oh shit.
They... No.
Scoffing, I stood up.
"How are people so shameless?" I asked myself.
"Man has to satisfy his needs." Ryder said, leading us out after telling the girl from the desk to hold Chase for the bills.
We walked down for a while when Ryder pulled my hand, leading us towards another direction.
"What's this place?" I asked him, my circling around the colorful building.
"That." He pointed at a van.
Then he walked up to a wall, reading something. I followed suit.
"Free ice-cream for couples." I read out.
"Cool." He smirked, leading us to the van.
"What are you -"
He draped his hand around my shoulder, smiling at the man who made the ice cream, "Hey man, today's our anniversary and I was thinking if my girl and I could get that free ice-cream?"
The man looked between us skeptically.
"Right, babe?"
My mouth was dry. So I settled for a slow nod.
"You don't believe us? I could kiss her right now." Ryder suggested. Then he turned to me, holding my face in his arms.
My eyes widened, looking into his eyes. My heart was racing fast.
He gave me a look that said 'play along', so I forced a smile.
"Have it. Happy anniversary." The man said. It didn't look like he believed us but just gave us anyway. "This is our free movie ticket for our theater opening."
"Thanks." Ryder held everything. "Let's go babe."
My stomach fluttered. I bit my lips shyly.
A soft laughter broke out from my lips when we moved farther from the van.
"That was so funny. I thought you were going to kiss me." I shook my head.
He stared at me, not smiling or laughing. His eyes fell to my lips, his eyes growing dark.
"Hold these." He handed the two cones to me. Then searched for his keys.
As we entered the car, I gave him one but he shook his head. "I got them for you. Only because I don't like missing freebies. Also, it's always fun to act."
Act.
I nodded slowly, "Thank you though for saving me from that eat out thingy with Chase."
"Right." He scoffed. "I just tried to piss Chase off for something he did. It wasn't about you."
It was my fault for being polite.
"Okay." I said, licking the two ice-creams silently.
I physically shivered when my teeth got frozen from biting it. Then I took corrections from my experience and began to lick it, letting it melt on my tongue
"Mhmmm!" I moaned uncontrollably.
Ryder cleared his throat, adjusting in his seat. "At least, eat quietly." He growled, his pupil dilated.
I rolled my eyes, sticking my tongue at him.
Once I was done, I brought out a lollipop from my bag, unwrapped it slowly and stuffed it in my mouth, to kill off the cold.
Then it dawned on me.
I turned to him, holding out the lollipop. "Sorry, I should've asked you first before - oh."
My mouth fell open as I watched his hand wrap around my wrist, pulling it closer to his face. His eyes locked onto mine dark and dilated as the tip of his tongue swirled around the sweet.
I couldn't breathe properly.
The way his tongue flickered up and down the sweet, made me feel hot. A dull ache pulsated in-between my legs, one that had nothing to do with the way the cold ice cream but everything to do with this one boy.
Save my soul, Lord.
"Salty. That's what I thought." His tone was low and husky.
Then he popped the sweet in his mouth, licking his lips as he relaxed back on his chair.
My lips parted open, releasing out soft shaky breaths.
My eye fluttered as I looked between him and the sweet. Slowly, my eyes not leaving his, I pushed it into my mouth.
"I... I'll just - bye, thank you." I opened the car door, jumping out.
He drove away immediately, leaving me there - struggling to wrap my head around everything.
God, his tongue was so flexible.
Best for...
No.
Burying the rest of my rotten thought, I opened my phone to check how far this place was from my house, only to catch onto something.
I froze, covering my mouth with my palm.
Ryder was such a freaking liar.
