QUEEN CHRISELDA
For years I thought the spirit wolf was dead, after that epic battle ages ago. But Thelma stood on the opposite side, believing she was alive.
And when that Dark blood Rogue was spotted here in Wolf Fall, it was a sign.
But the biggest sign is that Omega called Evolet. She did something that only the Spirit wolf could do. It's one of her gifts, and it shall be mine.
The following morning, I heard my servants and the damsels gossiping about Evolet and how she surprised the pack last night.
That's the only topic I've been hearing from every direction.
Evolet, Evolet! EVOLET!!
I got fed up of hearing her name and decided to dive into action without any delay. I called in two guards and sent them to bring in the Omega. "Let her know that the Queen would love to speak with her."
"As you wish my Queen." They bowed, leaving the mansion.
"Now the waiting game begins," I chuckled, returning to my chamber to wait for Evolet.
I would have followed the guards to pay her a visit, but how will I carry out my plan without being spotted? She needs to be here if I want to get what I want.
Forty minutes later, Thelma came to see me in my chamber, asking about Evolet. "Have you done it, my Queen?"
"Of course I have. She'll be here soon."
"That's good, my Queen. I'll get things ready for her arrival. We need to make it special for our guest," she said, chortling while exiting the chamber.
That's when Allen stepped in after Thelma left, looking bothered. "You sent for me?" he asked, drawing closer.
"Yes dear, I did. Please, sit down," I offered, patting the couch I was sitting on for my son to join me.
Allen sat next to me, dropping his gaze on the floor. "What's the problem, mother?" he asked, still looking down.
I know I haven't gotten over what Thelma told me, but it's best I act like one who didn't hear a thing. I don't want my boy feeling like a weakling. I hate seeing him like this.
"It's not really a problem, Allen. But it's relating to this hunt," I said.
That statement successfully got Allen to face me. Seems the hunt is an interesting topic to my son after all. I guess it's because of Fiona.
He sat properly and asked, "What about it? Do you want me to do anything for the next game?"
"No son. I don't want you to make any plans for that. I've… Well I've been thinking about our last discussion concerning this hunt, and… and I want to know if you've seen the woman you wish to be with."
"What?" Allen uttered, looking stunned.
It's clear he wasn't expecting this from me, but I'm his mother and I want what is best for my son. He has his eyes set on the girl of my choice. Why delay any further?
"But mother, I am still searching."
"Still searching? Are you joking now, Allen?" I smiled, finding his shyness sweet. He's a grown man, yet he's acting like a child.
"It's not a joke, Mom. Just… just give me some time. I promise to let you know when I'm sure of myself."
"Son," I called, cupping his face. "I'm sure the choice you make will be the right one. I trust you."
"Thank you, mother," Allen appreciated, caressing my hand.
He soon left me alone in my chamber, while I waited for that Omega's arrival.
.
"My Queen, she's here," a guard came to inform me of Evolet's arrival.
This news pleased my heart to the core, as I shared a lock with my sorceress, who was sitting right next to me.
"That's fine. I'll be there shortly."
"Alright, my Queen," The guard said from outside the room before walking away.
Still looking at Thelma, I asked, "Are you sure it's the right time to do this?"
"It's now or never, Queen Chriselda. Let's go," she said, taking the lead.
I followed her out of the chamber, until we were walking down the stairs, staring at Evolet who was standing at the corner with the other damsels talking to her.
Well, more like attacking her. Just one person.
"Taking down an Alpha on your own? Fake! I know you more than anyone here, Eve. You are nothing but a weakling. You're just looking for a way to get back into the game. You must have bribed that stupid cat to help you!" Fiona accused, expressing deep hatred for the Omega.
"Oh be quiet! Just say you're jealous that she did something you couldn't do. Even Evolet knows that talking to you is pointless, that's why she's quiet," Evolet's friend said, backing her up.
Just like she said, Evolet wasn't talking. She just leaned against the wall with that dog of hers standing next to her.
"I am not jealous of her! She should be the jealous one here because she lost to me!" Fiona sparked, trying to assert dominance.
But the argument went cold when the girls saw Thelma and I at the bottom of the staircase, looking at them.
They immediately bowed at me and greeted, "Greetings, Queen Chriselda."
"Greetings, Queen Chriselda." Evolet did the same with her pet.
My eyes were immediately fixed on her when she bowed.
Is it me or is she looking different today? She looks nothing like the Evolet from yesterday. Something is different about her today.
"Welcome Omega. We were expecting you," Thelma said, stepping forward to receive Evolet.
She cupped her face with a big smile and said, "I told the Queen all that happened last night and she has been curious to meet Wolf Fall's heroine and thank her specially. Isn't that right, my Queen?" Thelma turned over to face me, giving me the eye.
I played along, nodding my head. "Exactly, Evolet. Your heroism is worth praising. That's why I sent for you."
"Wait, you… you called her here?" Fiona asked, looking stunned.
"Yes, I did. Is there a problem with that?" I asked, lifting my right brow at her.
She wanted to speak, but couldn't. All she could do was glance at us, puffing in and out.
So what if she has a score to settle with Evolet? I don't bloody care. I have my own goal to achieve here.
"Come my dear. Why don't you join me at the dining table?" I offered, taking hold of Evolet's hand.
"Um… Thank you my Queen, but I…"
"I insist," I said, pulling her along before she could reject my invite.
I could tell from her body language that she wasn't fine with this. But I'm not going to allow her to leave this place until I've gotten what rightfully belongs to me.
As Thelma and I led both Omega and her wolf to the dining room, someone suddenly pulled my hand from behind, in a rough manner.
In anger, I turned around and found Fiona glaring at me with rage in her eyes, panting out.
"Are you insane? How dare you grab me like that?!" I groaned, pulling my hand out of her grip.
"My Queen, don't be deceived by that loser's face. She's no hero. Remember I defeated her yesterday. She must have made a deal with that Werecat to pretend before the people!"
"And what prove do you have?" I questioned, dimming my eyelids midway to show my anger. "You disrespected me just to say that my son and sorceress are lying about what they witnessed last night?!"
"My Queen, it's nothing like that. I can never disrespect you or your son. But Evolet… She's a fake!"
"Where's your prove?!"
"I… I don't… The fight…"
"Now let me tell you what is fake, girl." I drew closer to Fiona, who now looked scared of me, gulping down her saliva.
"Your so-called win… It's nothing but a lie."
"My… my Queen what are you…"
"You didn't win that battle last night, you fool!" I grabbed her by the neck, almost lifting her off the ground. She struggled for air in my hold, trying to break free.
"Your love for my son blinded your eyes that you failed to see your win was nothing but a fallacy! Evolet just allowed you to win the fight so you won't bother her any more. She took pity on you, Fiona."
I dropped her to the ground, watching her breath heavily for air.
"You poor thing. I know how much you love my son. You really want to be his Luna, don't you?" I smirked at Fiona, who looked at me while catching her breathe.
"Your eyes… You remind me of myself when I was your age. So desperate." I caressed her face, seeing myself in her eyes.
"I do like you, Fiona. But if you get on my nerves, I'm going to make you regret ever joining this hunt. Now, be a good girl and go meet your friends, okay?" I giggled, watching Fiona rise from the floor before walking away, looking back at me in fear.
"Desperate idiot. I won't allow your madness to interfere with my plans." I glared, turning around to go and meet Thelma and Evolet.
They had gone ahead before the foolish damsel showed up. Good thing Evolet didn't see what I did to Fiona. She would have picked that as a sign and made a run for it.
Stepping into the dining room, I met Thelma serving Evolet some meal while engaging her in a conversation.
Evolet's back was at the entrance, as well as her pet, while Thelma sat the other way, talking.
When she saw me, she said with a smile, "My Queen, we were just wondering where you went. Come and have a seat."
Evolet and her wolf turned over to face me. All I could do was smile at them and ask Eve, "I hope you're enjoying yourself?"
"Maybe." She followed me with her eyes, until I sat on my seat.
"Maybe? Come on, give me something better than that girl," I giggled, tapping the table.
To Evolet it was a normal tap, but to Thelma, it was a signal. She carefully drew away from us and left the room, leaving Eve and I alone with that dog.
"So… Sorceress Thelma said you really like my personality but just don't know how to show it," Evolet said, looking uneasy.
Seems she's feeling awkward being with me. The only thing I can do is make her feel comfortable. And that's by acting like I care.
Chuckling, I responded, "You won't blame me for being like this, Eve. You know I'm a Queen, and the load is just too heavy for…"
Before I could complete my words, I saw her pet wolf rising to his feet from where he laid, looking at Evolet.
His sudden behaviour interrupted my discussion with her, leaving me wondering why this pest had gotten to his feet.
"What's wrong, Wolfy?" Evolet asked, cupping the animal's face. But he kept on looking at her.
"Why is he acting like that? Is he hungry?" I asked, even if I didn't care.
But that's when the unexpected happened.
As Evolet was talking to her wolf, the beast suddenly growled out, pushing Evolet aside. All of a sudden, he jumped right at the back of Eve's seat and we heard a loud scream!
"Who was that?!" Evolet panicked, stepping back.
When the wolf repeated his action, he was hanging in the air biting something invisible, with a voice yelling, "GET OFF ME, YOU ANIMAL!"
"Is that Sorceress Thelma?" Evolet identified the voice, still watching her pet hanging in the air, refusing to let go of what he had caught.
"What are you saying? That can't be her," I denied, not knowing how to act.
But Thelma's cover was blown. She appeared before us, revealing her presence in the dining room, with that beast biting her cloth from the back.
"Damn it! That dog!" I groaned at this, thinking of a way to help my sorceress from this situation.
"What's going on here?!" Evolet questioned, feeling uncomfortable with what was going on.
That's when Thelma called out to me and threw a bottle my way. I immediately caught the bottle, opened and poured it right on Evolet's face.
She screamed out loudly, covering her face.
"YES!" I rejoiced, smashing the bottle to the ground while Thelma successfully got that animal off her back.
He came running to Evolet to check on her, while my sorceress and I patiently waited for the potion to suck out that spirit from her body.
But to our surprise… "What is wrong with you two?! Is this why you called me here?!" Evolet sparked, wiping her face in anger.
She glared at us and demanded for an explanation to our action. "Did you call me here to humiliate me? What did you even pour on me?!"
"What's going on, Thelma? Why is she still standing?"
"I don't know, my Queen. She's not supposed to be awake by now."
This was beginning to bother me. If she had the spirit wolf in her, then why is nothing happening?
