Chapter 17 XADEN
Chapter 17
XADEN
I am completely out of my mind.
“You must be out of your mind!” Sloane hissed, running towards me, and she opened the window to her room, helping me in. She smacked my back so hard, I almost fell. Jasper had punched me, pushed me with enough force to knock down a car and I didn't budge and this woman simply smacked my back and I could feel the pain flowing through my bones.
“Ouch!”
She slammed her eyes, teeth gritted. As soon as I was in her room, she ran towards the door, opened it gently, peeking through. She slammed the door back and locked it over and over until there was nothing more to twist.
She surged towards me, “What are you doing here?” she whisperyelled, her hands on my arm. She grabbed me, a twenty-nine-year-old man, and tossed me on her bed and sat next to me. “Are you out of your mind?” she repeated, her eyes tracing every part of my face. Her brows arched and coated with worry. Her chest rising and falling and even though I could see her cleavage, I was solely focused on how fast she was beating.
“Yes, I am out of my mind.” I cut her off, eyes boring into hers. My hands clasped together, keeping them to myself.
Her eyes flickered, her lips parted in awe, “Xaden…”
“I was worried about you… I know he would never hit you but… He yelled at you, do you let him speak to you that way?” I blurted, leaning forward. It took every ounce of self-control not to hit him when he raised his voice at her and pushed her when she tried to stop him from hitting me. I was livid. I hated it… I hated it so much.
“No!” Sloane defended immediately, “He has never done that before.” Her voice was filled with more worry than anger.
Right, how did I forget that she has a soft spot for my brother? No matter what he does, she would always find a way to side with him, even if it goes against her beliefs.
“But he did.” I fired back, my gaze intense as I stayed on her.
Her eyes flickered, she bit her lower lip and bowed her head, “He did.” she repeated.
Her palm clasped over her face as she sighed, grumbling, “What the hell even happened between you two!” She frowned, glaring at me.
My eyes flickered. Why is she mad at me? What did I do?
“You two were never like this, did you do something?” she rasped.
My jaw dropped, speechless, “Peach? Really?” My tone was slightly deeper than normal. Why did she just assume that I was the bad guy?
She shrugged, “Well did you?” She didn't back down. How did I forget how stubborn she is whenever she is with me?
I sighed, “No… I didn't do anything.”
And it wasn’t a lie. I didn't do anything to Jasper to warrant his hate and anger. Jasper and my mum are two of the people I turn the world upside down for. I did it once five years ago and I would do it again and again even if Jasper doesn't show appreciation for it.
“I didn't do anything to him, Sloane. He just woke up one morning and began this hostility towards me. I called him and asked if I had wronged him but he never told me what I did. I love my brother, I’d never hurt him like that.” I muffled.
She sighed. “Wait here.” she muffled, lifting herself off the bed.
“Where are you going?” I asked, watching as she walked towards the corner of her room. She pulled out a first aid box and made her way towards me.
“Your lips are bruised.” she muffled, unlocking the box her hands searched through for ointment. She reached for it, opened the cap, and used her pinky to scoop the quantity she needed.
I should tell her not to bother. I should tell her, I am not a kid and I can handle a small bruise, that it doesn't hurt enough for an ointment but instead, I sat there, watching her as she leaned forward, making me take in her scent, flowery, calm, and sweet. It had vanilla and maybe lily. It was so nice that I almost leaned into her neck to take a whiff.
My fist clenched against my joggers, fighting self-control.
Hold back, Xaden. Hold back.
She leaned closer, her pinky found my lips and slowly she rubbed the ointment. “You should try not to get hit, Xaden. I know you didn't want to hit him back but do not get hit too.” Her voice was low, her gaze on my lips, giving it her sole attention.
My throat bobbed as I looked down at her, watching her lashes move, tracing my lips. Watching the way her beautiful eyes stayed on my lips. The way she bit her lower lip, as she focused on my lips.
“If getting hit is the key to having you touch my lips like this after five years, then I guess I should keep getting hit.” The words rolled down my lips shamelessly.
She smacked me, “Don’t even think about it!”
My lips curled into a smile.
She continued, her pinky touching my lips. Sending shivers down my spine. I could feel the hair rising on my skin. It’s hot… It’s so hot. Cool breeze kept flowing through the window but all I could feel was this fire burning inside of me and the breeze was doing a terrible job cooling me down.
“Sloane?” I called Softky.
“Hmm.”
“If you keep touching me like that, I might give Jasper a reason to murder me..” I whispered. Still learning close to me, she simply lifted her head to look at me. My eyes flickered as I watched her, so cute, so beautiful. So…. Tempting.
“Hm?” She tilted her head to the side, confusion plastered over her face. She didn't hear me. She didn't hear what I said. I bit my lower lip, just a little space away from my bruise, “What did you say?” she asked.
My eyes flickered, my lips parted, and I leaned forward a little, just a little. I could feel her breath over my face.
I want to kiss her.
I want to taste of her lips again.
