Chapter 75: Step Inside

When her eyes fluttered open, she found herself cocooned in the soft comforter. The room

was chilly due to the air conditioner. Her eyes flickered to the glass wall, the color of the sky

clearly telling her that it was evening.

She immediately sat up, her senses sharpening as she absorbed her surroundings. Slowly,

the memories began to settle back in her mind as she recalled everything. Her gaze darted

cautiously around the room, searching for him. A sigh of relief left her lips when she

confirmed he wasn’t there.

Still, a faint unease lingered, like a shadow she couldn’t shake. Nevertheless, she got off the

bed, her feet sinking into the plush carpet. She poured herself a glass of water to relieve her

parched throat.

Half an hour passed, yet there was no sign of him coming back. How long has it been since he

left?she wondered. The stillness made it impossible to tell.

The room felt claustrophobic to her at this stage, the four walls closing in on her like a

gilded cage. The room was stifling.

She thought of stepping outside, just for a moment, to breathe in fresh air. But the thought

of his reaction held her in her tracks. She dozed off roaming about in the hotel and just sat

down on the couch again.

Minutes turned into what felt like hours, and she couldn't contain herself now within the

four walls of this luxurious box. So she just got up and went straight to the door, shutting

every fearful and negative thought in the back of her mind.

Her hand trembled as she turned the knob, but determination overrode her hesitation.

As the door opened, she was greeted by the imposing sight of three tall, bulky guards

dressed in black uniforms. Their presence was like an immovable wall between her and her

freedom.

"Ma'am, you are not allowed to go out until the boss returns," one of them said firmly, his

tone polite but uncompromising. "Please go back inside."

Her lips parted in disbelief. "But he... permitted me," she lied, trying to keep her voice

steady.

"Sorry, ma'am," the guard replied, shaking his head slightly. "Sir passed us strict orders."

Her brows knitted together in frustration. Why weren’t they listening to me?

"Please let me go out," she said, her tone hardening. The suffocation inside the room had

begun to fray her nerves.

"Please go inside," the guard repeated, his voice laced with a hint of desperation, as if he,

too, didn’t want to displease him.

"I will not," she snapped, folding her arms across her chest. Her stubborn streak flared.

Daro? Tw daro, ab bodyguards se bhi daro?she thought scornfully.

"Please cooperate, ma'am," the guard said, almost beseeching her now.

"No!" She turned her head away with a huff. "I won't! And as I said, I've been given

permission, so why are you stopping me?" Her voice rose slightly, and she added, "I'll be

back before he comes. Just let me go."

They weren't even looking at her, as their boss had particularly instructed them not to look

at his woman or he would have their eyes followed by their balls.

Her frustration boiled over. "Let me go, or I'll run," she threatened, her hands clenching at

her sides. Her life was getting controlled—a lot more than she liked.

Before the guards could respond, a voice cut through the tense air like a knife.

"Who will run and where?" The striking voice carried a quiet menace, halting her breath.

All four of them snapped their heads in unison toward him as he walked with his powerful

entourage, his commanding presence filling the corridor. Power radiated from him with

each stride, and his piercing gaze zeroed in on her, making her feel like prey caught in a

hunter's sights.

The guards bowed their heads even lower as if trying to make themselves invisible.

Sheharzaad, however, became the center of his attention, her defiance unmistakable.

"Sir, ma’am wanted to go out," one of the guards informed him.

Her head snapped toward the guard, her eyes shooting daggers at him.

She was already in trouble.

"Sheharzaad, go inside," his swift command came, his tone brooking no argument.

Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, a drumbeat of panic. Without thinking, her feet

obeyed, carrying her back into the room.

What have I gotten myself into?she thought as the dread sunk into her.

Moments later, she heard the sound of his footsteps. Her pulse quickened when she heard

the faint click of the door behind him. Her heart stopped. Had he locked it?

She bowed her head, unwilling to meet his gaze. Her legs moved involuntarily, carrying her

backward as he approached like a predator closing in on his prey.

The atmosphere thickened with tension, dragging her back to that awful night when he had

claimed her body and her soul and left her shattered.

She bitterly thought about how she had turned into this scared soul.

She used to be headstrong and fiercely independent. These were the qualities she took so

much pride in.

Now she stood here trembling, her confidence stripped away.

Each and every quality that she thought built her character had faded away.

Her delusion of being strong and independent was broken. Now she was just a weak woman

whose own body was controlled by a single command of the man in front of her. She didn't

even have autonomy over her own body, let alone her life.

The simple act of stepping out of a room when she felt suffocated now felt like a noose tied

to her neck. She was living solely on the mercy and desire of the beast in front of her, who

would not waste a single minute putting her in her place if she even dared to think about

disobeying him. She cannot entertain that thought in her mind.

"I was... I was not g-going out," she stammered, her voice barely audible. Her words

sounded weak even to her own ears.
