Chapter 37: I Want You Now
"Really?" he raised his brows and she gave him a small nod.
“But I have a surprise for you,” he said, his lips curving into a smile that twisted her
stomach. Danger bells rang in her mind.
“What?” she managed to whisper
“Nawaz!” he called out, and within moments, a man rushed into the room.
“Yes, sir?” Nawaz responded, with his hands crossed respectfully.
Give me that file,” Shehryaar ordered, extending a hand. Nawaz stepped forward and
handed over a file to him.
“Leave,” Shehryaar added, not even sparing a glance at him as he flipped open the file.
Nawaz vanished from the room.
“Take a look,” he said, extending the file toward her. She hesitated, her fingers trembling as
she reached out to get the file. The fear in her rising by leaps and bounds. Her heart beating
like a drum in her ears.
Something wasn’t right. She could feel it.
As she read the contents of the file, her heart felt as if it would pounce out of her chest.
“What?” Her voice wavered, her chin wobbled as she snapped her head up at him and the
first tear rolled off her cheek.
“Surprise,” he murmured, a cold amusement glinting in his eyes.
“What does this mean?” she asked, her voice cracking, and the tears spilled out of her eyes,
uncontrollably and freely.
“You want to know?” he asked, his voice dropping to a mocking murmur as he took the file
from her and then threw it carelessly as he rose from his position.
She watched his slow, deliberate movements in horror. As he moved closer, trying to fill in
the gaps between them she, instinctively, took, quick, panicked steps backward in an
attempt to somehow maintain that distance between them.
He moved toward the door and closed it, the soft click sending a shiver down her spine. He
knew the effect that he was creating on her, and a dark smirk curled on his lips.
“Please, keep the door open,” she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper, but his smirk
simply depended, straightening himself as he began moving toward her, each deliberate and
calculated step.
She couldn’t take it anymore. She screeched, rushing towards the bed so she could be on the
other side of the room.
But he was faster. He reached out, his hand closing around her wrist and pulling her down
with him onto the mattress. She landed with a gasp, and he positioned himself over her, his
arms on either side of her head, trapping her beneath him.
They were close. Far too close, they were inhaling the same air. She had tried to run away
and create distance between them but instead, she had pulled him even closer.
The air between them was thick and charged. She felt her chest tighten, panic coiling tighter
inside her.
“Mercy,” he whispered under his breath, the word a mockery as if it held any meaning to
him or it was completely foreign to him.
He could feel the tiny tingles on his lips wanting to capture hers.
He looked into her eyes and she looked terrified. Terrified to the core. Her body was
shivering badly now.
The night began to run in her mind like a tape. She wanted to escape. Run as far away as it
was humanly possible but her shivering lips grabbed his attention even further.
"Don't fear," he muttered, caressing her cheek and that made her breath stuck in her throat.
Her body got locked. Her mind got locked. As if every activity in her system stopped and all
she could imagine and think of was that night. They were closer than they are now. This
proximity was nothing compared to what they shared that night.
Her lips moved to plead with him to let her go but she couldn't utter a word. She had
forgotten to breathe. And she couldn't move her lips to deny him. Only her lips continued to
shiver.
He traced her lower lips with his thumb and she cried out slowly in a fretful way. He slowly
moved his thumb to her lower lips and then tracked down her lip line. Instinctively, she
held her lower lip between her teeth which got his attention. His eyes moved from her
fearful teary eyes to her red nose and then landed on her nibbled lips. He felt a sudden
overflow of emotions in him. He wanted to do more than just caressing her lips. He moved
his thumb and released her lips from her teeth and she let him. Her dry lips were moistened
now. Moving his head closer, he stroked her soft and cracked lips with his before placing a
small kiss on the same area which she nibbled between her teeth. He sucked her lips as his
tongue slowly moved and caressed her there. Taking his time, he pulled his head back to
look at her. He was surprised at himself, that was the most chaste kiss of his whole life yet,
on the other hand, he wanted to kiss her more than what he just did. He wanted to take her
on this bed right there and right now.
As his eyes landed on her face she looked struck. The terror has increased tenfold now and
it was evident on her face.
He got off of her and sat beside her on the bed. Quickly sitting up, she was about to move
forward when he encircled his arm around her waist pulling her closer.
She just looked down on the floor. Still in the trauma of what just happened, she had tightly
wrapped her arms around herself. She still wasn't breathing properly and could feel the
tingles under her feet as if life was rushing away from her feet. She knew she would trip if
she stood up now.
He placed his lips on her temple, closing his eyes.
"I want to take you here, Sheharzaad," he whispered. "I want you right under me, now,"
And as his arm tightened around her, she knew there was no escape from him. At least not
tonight.
