Chapter 15: Accusations
He was sitting on the sofa and Rafay stood in front of him, with his hands crossed and eyes looking down. His face was pale and his body slightly shivering.
Shehryaar had carried Sheharzaad in his arms to his office and laid her on one of the sofas as she was unconscious.
"Should I believe it already that you're at fault?" Shehryaar's dark voice tore through the thick atmosphere, making Rafay vigilant as he looked up at him.
"No sir,"
"Then start speaking," he ordered while crossing his foot on the knee of his other leg and sprawling one of his arms on the sofa head.
"Sir, I apologize for my error. But trust me, she called me to her office saying there was an urgent piece of work. I came rushing, and she began to seduce me. When I said no to her, she began to scream and run in the opposite direction. Feels like the denial didn't sit well with her," Rafay tried to manipulate him.
Shehryaar only gave a nod to him when his eyes moved toward her.
"Sir, please trust me. I'm not at fault,"
"I let you speak only because I thought I might be missing something. You may go,"
"Sir, please believe me," Rafay begged. He knew what kind of sharp and quick-witted person Shehryaar Haider Syed was, and at the moment, more than his job, he was feeling threatened about his life. Because if this incident had gotten the attention of the media, then his company might have suffered a backlash. Rafay knew how much he was obsessed with his work and reputation. He had built this company with a lot of sweat. He had worked hard to bring the company to this level. He had given years to make a name for his company as one of the best not only in Pakistan but the world. He had unknowingly made an attempt to tarnish his company's reputation, which Shehryaar wouldn't bear at any cost.
"Sir, she texted me and called me to the office. In that office, she was acting all seductive, but suddenly she began to run out of the office when I said that we should stop now. She called me. She is a whore. Please believe me,"
"Rafay Alvi," his voice came out steely. He wasn't liking what Rafay was saying.
"Yes sir,"
"Get out of my office, or I will become more than certain that it was you who is playing the victim,"
"Yes, yes sir," he said breathlessly and turned around to reach the office door when suddenly a bullet was shot at his leg and he fell down. He screamed in agony when Shehryaar made a call, and within seconds some bulky men came into his office and took Rafay away.
Now it was just him and her alone in the office. His eyes once again landed on her, and he again looked away. He walked to his desk and began to do his work for which he came.
Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would be encountering such a situation. His intuition was saying Rafay was the one who was after her, yet his mind, his twisted mind, forced him to not believe a woman. But if Rafay was the one at fault, then that meant he tried to corrode the company's position in the market, a grave sin that he wouldn't sustain.
On and on, his attention would be diverted towards her. He didn't know why. Though he was very busy with his work, still her unconscious form was grasping his attention as if he wanted to have a clear look at her. There was something about her that was calling him again and again.
At last, not being able to resist that unusual feeling, he stood up and moved towards her to have a closer look at her. Her jet-black hair was covering half of her face, so he tucked them behind her ear to have a clear view of her face that had caught his attention.
She was bewitching.
So pretty, so beautiful. Enchanting.
Her lashes were thick, and her cheekbones accentuated, her lips more like a rose. She had him spellbound for a moment. And out of all the things, his devilish mind, for the very first time, could see innocence on someone's face. He, for the first time, found innocence on a woman’s face.
That innocence apparent on her face made his heart skip a beat.
His fingers moved on their own and began to caress her cheek. His actions oblivious to him even.
At that very moment, he knew and was sure he wanted her. He wanted his lips on hers. He wanted those eyes to look at him while he would pound into her in his bed. He wanted her body under his command.
He retrieved his fingers back, but his grey eyes analysed the beauty. The innocence. He was bewitched.
He was enthralled by her when she opened her eyes and hers connected with his.
Grey against grey.
One couldn't tell who had a more mesmerizing pair of grey eyes, her or him?
It was the second time in a decade when his heart once again skipped a beat.
Her mere eyes had that captivity that one would want to look into them forever.
She instantly sat up and pulled back against the sofa upon finding herself alone with someone.
"My scarf," she began to hurriedly look around for her scarf when Shehryaar straightened his position.
She covered her chest with her hands and looked left and right, trying to find her scarf. Her heart was running a mile a minute. She had come to the conclusion who he was.
She was alone with the CEO of the company, and that too at this time of the night. She had gauged by now that Rafay was gone. She didn’t want to be called a gold digger who would spend the night with her boss to get a pay hike or promotion, which she was not.
"Get up," he ordered, and she looked up at him.
