Chapter 65
Jonathan realized he’d let something slip, and Annabel, sharp as ever, caught on
immediately.
He stopped trying to cover it up and
cold laugh. “Those whip marks on your back weren’t they his doing?”
Annabel snatched the script, her fists clenched tight, her voice trembling with anger. “When did you find out? Was it you who told my grandfather?”
It was a calculated guess, but Jonathan nodded.
His voice was icy, devoid of any warmth. “Mr. White is your grandfather. It’s his responsibility to protect you. But if he can’t-”
Jonathan’s gaze was steady, his tone deadly serious. “Then I’ll protect you myself.”
Annabel bit her lip tightly, suppressing her anger. It took her a long time before she gave a cold snort. “Jonathan, save your sympathy for someone who actually wants it. I’m not some object you can just trade around.”
“That’s not what I meant, not even close,” Realizing she had misunderstood, Jonathan said, his voice tinged with frustration.
Annabel bit her lip even harder, her defiance clear. “But that’s exactly what you did.”
Jonathan hesitated, his gaze softening as he reached out. His fingers brushed her chin, gently freeing her lip from her teeth. “Don’t bite. If you hurt yourself, it’ll make me feel worse.”
Annabel turned her head away, deliberately avoiding his gaze. “Mr. Turner, stay out of my family’s business. I don’t need your interference.” With that, she grabbed her script and walked off.
Her chest heaved, but deep down, she knew it wasn’t just anger. That unsettling feeling left her vulnerable and uneasy.
Jonathan’s eyes darkened as he watched her walk away, his displeasure simmering beneath the surface.
Just as he was about to turn away, an actress approached him timidly. “Mr. Turner, don’t be upset. I mean, isn’t it obvious Miss White likes Mr. Cole?”
Before she could finish her sentence, Jonathan’s icy glare froze her in place, sharp as a knife and twice as deadly.
It was as if he were staring at a corpse. Terrified, the actress turned pale and fled in panic.
Carlos had been quietly observing everything from the corner. Only when Jonathan was far enough away did he dare to call Celia. “Miss Sherman, Mr. Turner is available now.”
Celia hung up immediately and dialed–Jonathan directly. “Miss Sherman, Mr. Turner is available now.” Her voice was sweet and alluring, dripping with
charm.
To Jonathan, it was nothing but irritating noise.
“I’m not free. Leonard will handle things with your brother.” Without giving her a chance to respond, he hung up.
The cold, repetitive beeping from the phone made Celia’s chest tighten with anger. She nearly threw her phone across the room. Damn it.
Annabel had no idea Jonathan had unknowingly stirred up more resentment against her. After finishing her makeup, the filming began promptly.
Playing the role of Madeline Tate, Annabel exuded a mix of allure and icy detachment. She looked at the man who had been relentlessly pursuing her and deliberately delivered her cutting lines, “Cedric Gordon, stop chasing me. I don’t love you at all.”
“Say that again.” Jonathan seemed born to act, his presence commanding and magnetic, drawing all eyes to him. His regal demeanor was tinged with a wicked smile. “Don’t forget, I saved your life.”
Before the words fully settled, he reached out and wrapped Jonathan’s arm around Annabel’s slender waist, his grip firm and unyielding

The two were so close that Annabel could catch the faint, crisp scent of his cologne.
The large hand resting on her waist sent a wave of discomfort through her.
Annabel frowned slightly, preparing to discreetly push Jonathan away where the camera wouldn’t catch it.
But before she could act, his deep, magnetic voice resonated in her ear, “Madeline, you’re r
Before Annabel could process his words, he gripped her chin, forcing her to tilt her face upward. With a possessive intensity, he claimed her lips in a heavy, domineering kiss.
It all happened so quickly that Annabel froze, her mind blank as the unexpected kiss overwhelmed her senses.
Noticing her lack of resistance, Jonathan’s grip tightened as he deepened the kiss, his dominance leaving no room for escape.
The electrifying scene left the crew buzzing with excitement. “So sweet.” someone exclaimed, while others nodded in agreement, their faces lit with delight.
Mason stepped into the room, and the moment his eyes landed on the two locked in a kiss, his gaze turned stormy, brimming with suppressed rage even though he knew it was just acting.
His fists clenched so tight it looked like he was

to endure it any longer, pinched Jonathan’s waist with all her might.
Jonathan let her go with visible reluctance, as if savoring every fleeting moment.
Annabel reminded herself it was all for the scene, but her cheeks flushed a deep red. Without hesitation, her hand shot out, aiming a sharp slap at his annoyingly perfect face, a mix of real anger and staged drama.
Jonathan, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips, caught her wrist mid–air. His long, narrow eyes gleamed with a mischievous light.
His gaze was so serious it didn’t feel like acting at all. He enunciated, “After a month, I will come to marry you with the entire Gordon family by my side.”
Annabel snapped back, her voice icy, “Over my dead body.” Her gritted teeth and bristling demeanor made her look like a Little Wildcat ready to pounce.
Jonathan, clearly amused by her feisty reaction, couldn’t help himself. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek.
The sweetness of the moment was so overwhelming that Carl
s quickly called out, “Cut.”
Annabel’s expression immediately turned cold. In the next second, Jonathan staggered back as Mason forcefully stepped in, shielding Annabel with his back to Annabel.
“Annabel, did he hurt you?” Mason asked, his voice filled with urgency.
Mason pulled out a disinfectant wipe, intending to clean her lips himself.
But Annabel took it from him and began scrubbing her lips vigorously. Her eyes were filled with pure disgust. Mason chuckled softly, his gaze softening as he watched her.
Meanwhile, Jonathan’s previously cheerful expression darkened. His sharp eyes locked onto Mason with a murderous intensity, as if he him apart.

The air grew heavy with unspoken hostility, the kind that made everyone hold their breath, except for Carlos, who remained blissfully oblivious and dared to shout, “Next group, get ready–”
As Annabel and Mason walked away, Mason kept muttering, “Annabel, didn’t you say all the intimate scenes were cut?”
“Yeah,” Annabel replied curtly. The scene earlier had been an impromptu addition, which was why she was completely caught off guard.

Still fuming, Annabel turned around and shot Jonathan a fierce glare, her eyes blazing with anger.
They were almost at the resting area when Annabel suddenly quickened her pace and stormed straight toward Jonathan.
without hesitation, she snatched his script and flipped through a few pages, her movements sharp and aggressive.
When she saw that the intimate scenes between the leads were still intact, her jaw tightened as she glared at him. “Care to explain this?”
“I made some last–minute adjustments based on market demand,” Jonathan replied, his tone cold and his raised eyebrow betraying his sour mood.
Annabel let out a sharp, mocking laugh, her lips curling in disdain. “Really?”
She grabbed a wet wipe and scrubbed her lips furiously, as if trying to erase the lingering filth. “Still dirty,” she thought, her stomach churning with
revulsion.
Jonathan’s expression darkened at her actions. He grabbed her wrist, his rough fingers tightening around her skin, and his calloused thumb grazed her lips with deliberate pressure. “Don’t push me, Little Wildcat. My patience is running out.”
Annabel struggled to push him away, but his grip was unyielding, his strength overpowering hers.
Just as Mason rushed over, his fists clenched and ready to strike, Jonathan released her with a smirk.
Mason immediately stepped in front of Annabel, shielding her with a protective stance, his eyes blazing with defiance.
His voice was cold and sharp as he warned, “Jonathan, others might fear you, but I don’t. Annabel isn’t someone you can mess with.”
