Chapter 8 008
Chapter 8
Thalia's POV
I got home and he was still giving me the cold shoulder. He wouldn't so much as look at me.
My regrets continue to pile up, l was questioning why I had even said anything at all that would upset him when I could have just kept it all to myself and thought about it a little longer before jumping into conclusions.
Throughout the day I tried to see him but he kept missing me saying that he was busy, there was a harshness list in his tone like poison and I could not get over it as much as I tried to then I was pacing back and forth wondering what I was going to do.
This was when an Omega maid approached me, she told me that she and the other maids had finished prepping the meal for tonight.
My heart sank remembering that tonight was actually supposed to be our weekly supper with his parents and mine, Shelly was also invited as well I had been so worried because he was ignoring me that I did not even think about it I took the maid back into the kitchen with me then I told her to resume prepping the ingredients again because we were clearly going to need more for the crowd that would arrive at the evening I was working without rest and it was good for me because I didn't have to worry about my relationship for the meantime.
My mom was the first to arrive, she came to join me in the kitchen and offered to help but I told her that she didn't have to with an easy smile.
"Are you sure I can't help with anything?" My mom offered again seeing how tired I looked. I'm sure it must have been written all over my face as the cocaine was finishing up more thoughts were rolling back into my mind.
Since I knew that my in-laws were going to be arriving a little bit late as they always did I kept my eyes on the meals that were still cooking and then looked around to see if there was anybody before dismissing the two Omega needs that were still assisting me that was when I spoke to my mom.
"Actually I saw a text on Varian's phone"
She looked a bit pale after I was done explaining everything.
"But you were able to confirm with him that there weren't any issues right?" She asked me and I nodded. She smiled understandingly, "then if you have already confirmed that he is innocent don't worry about it I'll talk to him if.."
I shook my head at that suggestion immediately. I wanted to be the one to resolve our problems together without him finding out that I had told anybody he always became extra livid whenever he found out that I shared our problems outside our marriage.
"Mom you've already done more than enough just listening to me and I appreciate it a lot but I want us to handle this ourselves getting other people involved with just complicated things at least that's the way I see it."
She looked a bit worried but she was ready to respect my choice in this and I appreciated her for that. The next person to arrive was Shelly. She came with a fine bottle of wine and I thanked her for it.
"Oh it's no problem at old, hello aunt Becca..."she greeted my mom. Mom responded a little coldly, making a sound that just seemed to be there for politeness and nothing more.
I would have asked my mom about this if this was not a conversation that had already come up several times but every single time should have responded and said that there was nothing wrong between her and Shirley yet before she used to treat Shelly like her second daughter and now things look so strange between the two of them.
Soon enough my in-laws arrived as well, they made their usual half-hearted apology about replying late and then the promise of making it up next time which everyone at the table including themselves already knew that they wouldn't keep.
When Varian finally came down to join us I had hoped that he would have gotten over some of his spite and anger against me but as we were having our dinner he kept showing it in small passive aggressive ways.
I politely asked him if he could help me cut my steak then he looked straight at me as if I had just asked for one of his vital organs to be served on the table and responded without missing a beat; "what's wrong with your hands? Can't you cut it yourself?"
Every time he made a comment like that I would have to laugh pretending it was a joke and it was my weak attempt to clear the air. I'm not sure if it's worked every time or if I was just deluding myself to believe that it was working.
Nobody really said anything about the way he was acting but I could see that Shelly was shooting him a few nasty glares. She was just trying to be protective of me but I didn't want to give him another reason to be angry. I just wanted to put this behind us so that we could move ahead with our lives.
Just as we were halfway through with dinner Shelly clinged her fork against her, She wore a beaming smile that covered half of her face and said loud enough to make everyone pause if they had not already set their food aside.
"First of all I want to thank my lovely friend for inviting me to dinner tonight, the truth is that I see everyone here like my family which is why I want to share the wonderful news.." she brushed her palm over her belly, looking quite pleased with herself before she opened her mouth to speak again.
"Everyone I would like to announce that I am currently in my first trimester.”
