Chapter332
Geoffrey effortlessly scooped her up and placed her on the bed.
“Don’t-”
Before Maureen could finish, Steven’s frantic cries echoed from the doorway: “Mommy! Mommy!”
Geoffrey knitted his brows slightly.
Maureen tried to rise, but Geoffrey remained immovable like a mountain.
“Geoffrey, move!” she hissed under her breath.
Ignoring her, he called toward the door:
“Reenie’s asleep. Come back tomorrow.”
Steven stood frozen at the threshold, pounding harder on the door.
“Bad guy! Give Mommy back! Waaah… Mommy! Mommy!”
He couldn’t let that jerk hurt Mommy right before his eyes.
Hearing Steven’s sobs–real or fake–Maureen panicked and bit down hard on Geoffrey’s solid shoulder.
Geoffrey drew a sharp breath but didn’t budge, tightening his grip instead.
“Be good, listen to me. Stay with me tonight, and I’ll do whatever you say from now on.”
Maureen refused and increased her force.
Geoffrey grunted.
Outside the door, Ethan kept shouting: “Bad guy, hand over Mommy or I’ll call the police!”
Maureen tasted blood in her mouth, loosened her grip slightly, and said again:
“Geoffrey, if you keep this up, I’ll ignore you forever.”
In the past, Geoffrey wouldn’t have been threatened by her.

But now, thinking how Maureen vanished for four or five years, he got scared and let go
Maureen scrambled out of his embrace and rushed through the door.
Ethan finally saw Mommy, his eyes instantly reddening.
“Mommy, are you okay?”
“Of course! I was just helping Uncle Geoffrey get dressed. It was awkward earlier.”
Maureen’s face remained flushed.
Ethan sighed in relief–that scumbag dad tricked Mommy into sleeping? Thank goodness he persisted.
“Mommy, see the outfit you bought me? Cute, right?”
Ethan grinned, spinning in his adorable little dinosaur pajamas.
“Adorable! My Ethan’s the cutest. Let me take your picture.”
“Okay.”
Ethan was a bit narcissistic. Though he looked exactly like his older brother Jacob, he thought he was more handsome and more popular with girls. It was just a pity his illness kept him from going to school like other kids.
While Maureen was taking pictures of Ethan, Geoffrey changed into new clothes and came out neatly dressed, just in time to be caught in the photo.
The moment froze. In the picture, the big one and the small one looked almost identical.
The clothes Maureen bought were also similar in color, somewhat like parent–child outfits, making them look like real father and son.
But Maureen didn’t notice and saved the photo.
When Ethan saw that scumbag dad come out, his eyes were full of disgust. He changed positions so Maureen could take pictures.
After taking a bunch of handsome photos, Ethan was satisfied and went to sleep with Maureen.
Early the next morning.
After Maureen woke up, she got a call from Justin.

“We found out who hurt you yesterday. It was Elizabeth.”
Elizabeth, Maureen’s half–sister sharing the same mother.
Learning this truth left Maureen momentarily stunned.
Justin continued stillly, “When I handled it yesterday, those men admitted they planned to humiliate you after taking you away.”
He struggled to utter those last two words.
Maureen clenched her fists.
“I understand.‘

After hanging up, Maureen couldn’t fathom why Elizabeth harbored such hatred toward her.
Her only offense against Elizabeth involved Alex–yet now, she and Alex shared no connection whatsoever.
Maureen instructed her assistant Betty to send Elizabeth’s contact number, recalling their prior collaboration.
Betty promptly forwarded the digits, asking, “BOSS, are you considering working with her again?
She reached out days ago about purchasing your music–I hadn’t gotten your thoughts yet.”
Maureen typed back: “No. Personal matter.”
“Ohhh.”
Betty paused, then recalled something else. “Actually, BOSS, I’ve noticed someone discreetly investigating our shell studio registered publicly.”
The studio served as Maureen’s cover story since returning.
Hearing this, Maureen instantly knew investigators from Karaville were behind it.
“Don’t mind them, just focus on your

work.”
Betty thought if those people dared cause trouble, she’d teach them a lesson.
Despite Betty’s sweet and gentle appearance, she was an international women’s kickboxing champion–most men stood no chance against her.

Maureen didn’t care about them investigating a shell company. She’d registered that studio long ago just to hide her work from Geoffrey. Now that Geoffrey had amnesia, there was nothing to
fear.
After ending the call with Betty, Maureen dialed Elizabeth, wanting to talk things out.
Elizabeth had just finished a performance. Backstage while removing her makeup, she casually picked up the ringing phone.
“It’s me, Maureen.”
Elizabeth’s breath hitched.
The methods she’d used to send people after Maureen weren’t sophisticated. A little digging would expose everything.
“What do you want?”
Elizabeth’s voice sounded guilt–ridden.
“Let’s meet halfway. We need to talk.”
Maureen sent Elizabeth a neutral location and time.
Elizabeth’s lips twitched with anger seeing the message: “Damn girl. Who does she think she is?”
