Chapter318
“I’m sorry. Mom doesn’t know how to say the right things. Don’t be angry. Everything will be fine.”
Only in front of Elizabeth did Noelle act like a mother.
Elizabeth turned her face away: “Stop pretending to be a loving mother. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to.”
“Is it because I didn’t let you speak at the Engagement Party? You hold a grudge, so you let your own daughter Maureen take my place?
To seduce Alex?”
Elizabeth’s words left Noelle stunned for a moment before she came back to her senses.
“Elizabeth, are you misunderstanding something?
Why would I let Maureen seduce Alex?”
Noelle couldn’t stand Maureen enough as it was.
But Elizabeth thought she was just acting, and added that Alex and Maureen had known each other long ago, and that Maureen had secretly hooked up with Alex.
Hearing this, Noelle’s face flushed with anger. She clenched her fists: “I really underestimated her. I never thought such a useless person would know how to seduce men!”
“Elizabeth, don’t worry. I’ll definitely take care of this for you.
The position of the Sutton Family’s second young mistress can only be yours.”
Elizabeth listened to Noelle’s assurances with skepticism.
“You’d offend your own daughter for me?”
At this point, Noelle didn’t want to keep hiding it from Elizabeth anymore,
“Elizabeth, actually, I am your real mother.”

years. Noelle couldn’t wait any longer to make Elizabeth acknowledge her.
Elizabeth hears this, her pupils instantly constricting: “What did you say?”
“I said I’m your biological mother. Barbara isn’t–she can’t have children.”
Elizabeth can’t believe it: “You’re lying.”
Noelle anticipated her disbelief, handing over the prepared DNA test results.
“See for yourself.”
Elizabeth takes the report, confirming their biological relationship.
!
So Maureen is her biological sister?
Elizabeth crushes the paper in her fist, forcing calm:
“Then my father…”
“Johnson, of course.”
Noelle answers immediately.
Elizabeth realizes Noelle betrayed Maureen’s father–they’re half–sisters.
“Elizabeth, I know this is overwhelming. Let me explain everything slowly.”
Noelle continues.
Elizabeth cuts her off: “Don’t. Leave. I need to be alone. Don’t tell Dad about this.”
Noelle hastily agrees and exits.

The moment the door closes, Elizabeth tears the DNA report to shreds and tosses it in the trash.
Elizabeth now finally understood why her father had married Noelle–this stepmother cared for her more than her own mother ever did.
At first she thought Noelle was just buttering her up, but now it all made sense.
She also understood why Barbara, over fifty, had only her as a daughter.
Elizabeth stared at the shredded paper in the trash, then suddenly stood up and frantically

dumped the scraps into the bathroom toilet to flush them away.
“I’m the daughter of businesswoman Barbara, not some useless court jester’s kid.”

To her, dancing was just a hobby–even becoming a world–famous ballerina couldn’t compare to being a real business boss.
Besides, with Barbara’s connections, couldn’t she just buy anyone a spot as a top dancer?
Compared to Noelle’s housewife life, only Barbara deserved to be her mother.
Having settled this in her mind, Elizabeth called Noelle back in, plastering on her usual fake smile: “Mom, I’ve thought it through–I’ll be a good daughter to you from now on.”
Noelle immediately hugged her: “Hearing that is all I need, sweetheart.”
“But,” Elizabeth’s tone shifted, “this stays between us. Promise you won’t tell a soul?”
Noelle asked in confusion: “Why?”
“Barbara has no children. I’m her only daughter. She said after she dies, she’d hand over the entire company to me. If she finds out the truth now, she won’t give it to me.”
Elizabeth spoke convincingly.
Noelle thought it made sense. After all, when Elizabeth was born and given to Raymond,
Raymond told Barbara the child was found abandoned with unknown parents. That’s why Barbara agreed to keep her.
“Okay.”
The next day, Maureen went for a prenatal checkup, and Geoffrey insisted on coming along.
“Don’t you have work?”
“I took leave.”
Geoffrey said.
“You take days off constantly. Doesn’t your boss mind?”
Maureen grew increasingly doubtful about his job’s legitimacy,
“It’s charity work. The boss pays low anyway. Plus, someone blind like me with top–notch skills is

rare.”
Geoffrey answered deadpan.
Maureen had seen Geoffrey work before–far more focused than others.
Basically, he finished the same tasks in less than a third of the time others took.

Just like now, though he couldn’t see, his memory was far better than most. He’d remember the layout of any place he’d been to.
At home, he functioned just like anyone else.
“Fine.”
Maureen had nothing left to say.
After arriving at the hospital, they visited Ethan first before Maureen went for her check–up.
