Chapter291
Maureen gazed at Geoffrey’s achingly familiar face, her heart roiling with turbulent waves.
“Yeah, you looked so pitiful back then.”
Hearing this, Maureen’s pupils contracted slightly. She couldn’t help asking: “Then… do you remember Alex now?”
At the mention of Alex, Geoffrey’s expression darkened: “No.”
Maureen felt a pang of disappointment.
She still wanted to ask Geoffrey why Alex had pretended to be him when they were children.
Noticing her silence after mentioning Alex, Geoffrey’s entire aura turned icy.
“Are you that interested in Alex?”
Maureen, oblivious to his shift, shook her head: “No. I just thought since you’re twins, I was curious.”
When she looked up at Geoffrey again, the man’s thin lips were hovering mere inches before her face.
Geoffrey wanted to kiss her again when his phone suddenly rang.
Maureen quickly reached for the phone–it was Justin calling.
“Ms. Ramirez, I’ve got news.”
Justin hadn’t uncovered this quickly; someone had deliberately tipped him off.
“Go ahead.”
Maureen instantly turned serious.
“Noelle and Raymond knew each other before your father passed. My source claims that after his death, Noelle and Adrian transferred massive assets to Raymond.”
“Raymond was just a man who married into the Zheng family and took his wife’s surname. Now he’s worth billions–largely funded by the Ramirez Family’s entire fortune.”

Maureen listened silently, clenching her fist.
Was it Noelle’s cruelty or her brother’s stupidity, handing their wealth to an outsider?
No wonder the Ramirez Family collapsed so rapidly.

“My informant also hinted that Noelle and Raymond might’ve had an inappropriate relationship before your father died.”
Justin told Maureen everything he had investigated.
What puzzled him most was who that person who helped him investigate really was.
“If I find anything new, I’ll tell you.”
“Appreciate it.”
Maureen gripped her phone, her mood unusually heavy.
She had only guessed before, but hadn’t expected it all to be true.
Her brother Adrian was truly foolish, actually doing others‘ work for them.
Geoffrey saw that Maureen had finished talking, so he asked, “What’s wrong?”
Maureen told him what Justin had said.
She thought, anyway, for now she’d treat Geoffrey as a listener.
“So what are you going to do?”
Geoffrey had had an insight long ago, but hadn’t paid attention to it back then.
“I want to take back what belongs to the Ramirez family.”
If Adrian had squandered the family fortune, that would be one thing, but now it’s clearly been swindled away.
No wonder Father had left a will as a precaution back then; probably he had known Noelle’s intentions long ago.
She only blamed herself for being too foolish back then, focusing solely on Geoffrey, and not noticing the reason for the Ramirez family’s decline.
“Hmm, okay.”

Geoffrey had already made up his mind to help Maureen.
Maureen didn’t expect him to help her, but said, “Talk to your mother carly, and have her back the money she owed before.”

She hunched over, slipping out of Geoffrey’s embrace.
“I’m going to rest.”
Geoffrey’s arms felt empty; she was already gone when he tried to grab her.
After she left, Geoffrey picked up his phone. Wayne had sent a message.
It said they’d uncovered Noelle’s past and informed Justin.
Geoffrey typed a reply: “Got it. Keep close tabs on the Yin Group quietly.”
Wayne lay in bed, baffled by his boss’s new task. Why monitor Yin Group again?
“Yes.”

He replied instantly, then tossed his phone aside with a sigh. “Who knows when this charade of playing poor will end?”
Early the next morning,
Maureen contacted former lawyer Thomas, handing him her father’s will and explaining the situation.
“To reclaim the Ramirez Family assets, we need proof Adrian transferred them. But after seven or eight years, evidence has long vanished.”
Thomas sighed.
Maureen nodded. “Then we’ll find it slowly.”
Knowing the truth, she wouldn’t let others keep enjoying the Ramirez fortune.
“Okay.”
Maureen rehired Thomas to investigate the Yin Group discreetly.
She then privately hired others to dig into Yin Group too.
After arranging everything, it was already noon. Maureen ate her meal and felt drowsy, dozing off by the window.

Chapter 291
A breeze brushed her face as a looming figure suddenly blocked the light before her.
In her dream, Maureen returned to childhood. Alex placed a large hand on her head, murmuring tenderly, “Reenie, why are you napping?”
Maureen blinked open groggy eyes. Gazing at the silhouette resembling Alex, she whispered without thinking. “Alex…”
Geoffrey’s hand froze mid–air.
He hadn’t gone to work today. Noticing Maureen hadn’t come downstairs, he’d gone to check and found her asleep.
“What did you call me?”
Maureen’s vision cleared instantly. “Sorry,” she stammered, “I was still half–asleep.”
Geoffrey’s hand dropped onto her shoulder, tightening gradually.
“Call me that again!”
Maureen held her breath, intimidated by his intensity.
