Chapter215
“Geoffrey, I’m here.”
The familiar voice above made Geoffrey’s heart tremble.
He stood up, deliberately avoiding Maureen’s direction as he called out, “Wayne.”
Wayne stepped forward quickly.
“I’m here, Mr. Sutton.”
“Let’s go. To the divorce counter.”
Geoffrey’s voice was cold.
Like this, he seemed unchanged from before the amnesia.
The two men walked ahead, Maureen following behind them.
Processing the divorce registration.
Wayne stood to the side as the registrar noticed Geoffrey was blind.
He checked the records and told them, “You filed for divorce five years ago, then sued again recently but got rejected by the court.”
“Yes.”
Maureen nodded. “Now he’s willing to divorce.”
Hearing this, the staff member kept checking and spotted Geoffrey’s name.
With the recent scandal blowing up, seeing that name on the form instantly clicked who stood before him.
He never imagined Corporate Headquarters‘ boss would be right here.
“Are you Mr. Sutton?
Your eyes are really…” He bit back the word “blind“.

Geoffrey hated pity and cut in. “Process it.
But the staffer said, “Sorry, Ms. Maureen–your carlier divorce suit got rejected. You must wait six months to reapply.”
Maureen froze, then blurted, “I told you–we both want this divorce now!”
Beside her, Geoffrey’s throat tightened at her eagerness.
“Right. We’re divorcing voluntarily.”
Geoffrey’s voice rasped.
The staff member gave him a sympathetic glance before shooting Maureen an icy look.
“Ms. Ramirez, according to our Marriage Law, if either party lacks full civil capacity, the courthouse may reject divorce applications.”
“People always say ‘Don’t forget the woman who stood by you when you had nothing‘–well, the same goes for husbands!
Your husband Mr. Sutton was once successful and promising. You didn’t divorce him then, but now that he’s like this, you want out? Isn’t that too heartless?”
Maureen’s eyes reddened with anger at the clerk’s words.
“What do you mean ‘lacks civil capacity‘? He’s blind, not stupid!”
Her raised voice drew stares from around the room.
Maureen had never felt so wronged.
“I filed for divorce when he was successful! Are you blind?
Didn’t you see that?”
“Besides, his success never brought me care or support. Why shouldn’t I divorce him now?”
“Why should I sacrifice myself staying with him just because he’s blind now, after how he treated me before?”
The entire room stared at Maureen, stunned by her words.
Someone recognized Geoffrey beside her, and cameras began flashing one after another.

The divorce didn’t go through in the end.
Honestly, not just Geoffrey, even Wayne was stunned.
Maureen, usually so gentle, had turned into a real shrew today.
Geoffrey’s bodyguards shielded them into the car, and even as they drove off, someone tailed them discreetly.
God knows what headlines would blow up online today.
Maureen sat in the car, her eyes reddening.
Geoffrey sat beside her, hands resting awkwardly on his knees.
“I’d wronged you before.”
He spoke after a long silence.
Maureen pressed her lips tight, not uttering a word.
Unable to see her or hear her voice, Geoffrey felt like a knife was twisting in his heart.
“In my memories, you loved me deeply, and I…” He swallowed the last three words. Because at the courthouse today, he’d heard nothing but resentment in Maureen’s voice.
So he’d treated her poorly after all…
Maureen remained silent, burying her face in her knees, fighting back tears.
All these years, she’d endured so much injustice, yet the world thought she’d benefited from Geoffrey’s status.
Now that he was blind, divorcing him would make her seem ungrateful.
Perhaps his blindness heightened his hearing–Geoffrey faintly caught Maureen’s stifled sniffles.
He raised his hand, his large palm settling on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry.”
Maureen stiffened.

All these years, Geoffrey had never apologized to her, never said he was sorry.
She looked up in surprise to see the man before her awkwardly resting his hand on her own shoulder.
“Geoffrey, why did you have to lose your memory?”
Geoffrey’s throat tightened again.
Maureen brushed his hand away. “Don’t touch me.”
Geoffrey’s hand froze mid–air, lingering before finally withdrawing.
“Alright.”
That single “alright” convinced Maureen this man truly had amnesia.
Not just amnesia–his personality seemed altered too.
Truthfully, his nature hadn’t changed. Knowing Maureen wanted to cry, Geoffrey coldly ordered Wayne and the driver: “Pull over. Wayne, both of you get out.”
“Yes.”
The driver and Wayne exited.
Only Geoffrey and Maureen remained inside the car, so quiet they could hear each other breathing.
“Cry if you want to.”
Geoffrey said.
Maureen didn’t respond.
Afraid she might leave, Geoffrey lightly touched her shoulder–reassured by her presence, his tense heart eased slightly.
“Don’t worry. Even without divorce papers, starting now I won’t disturb you anymore. Won’t be your burden either.”
Maureen still stayed silent.
Geoffrey softened his voice:
