Chapter 193
Meanwhile, Geoffrey stayed at a luxury hotel nearby, gazing coldly down at the streets below.
Gareth always thought Karaville was Geoffrey’s turf, but hadn’t realized Geoffrey showed restraint there.
Now abroad, he held nothing back.
After Gareth’s accident, his family whisked him away overnight and hushed it up.
Maureen knew nothing of his car crash. Waking next morning, she had the door repaired.
She planned to stay here awhile, keep composing music.
Once Geoffrey stopped pestering her, she’d go find Zoe and the others.
That morning, Maureen got ready to buy groceries.
Pushing the door open, she spotted Geoffrey smoking beside a Maybach.
Seeing her emerge, he immediately stubbed out the cigarette and tossed it into a trash bin.
Maureen pretended not to see him, walking the opposite way.
Geoffrey waited for the smoke smell to fade slightly before striding after her.
“Maureen!”
Maureen stopped in her tracks and looked back at him: “If what I said yesterday wasn’t clear enough, let me say it again today. I don’t want to be with you anymore. Please let me go. Let’s end this cleanly.”
A flicker of darkness flashed through Geoffrey’s eyes.
“Do you know I haven’t slept a single peaceful night since you ran away?”
Maureen couldn’t help but sneer: “Can’t sleep? Shouldn’t you see a doctor?”
During their three years of marriage, she’d endured far more sleepless nights.

Geoffrey’s throat tightened as he pulled Maureen into his embrace, ignoring her struggles and holding her tight.
“What exactly do I need to do to make you come back?”
Maureen caught the lingering cigarette scent on him and felt nauseous.
She forced herself to ask: “You must’ve read my letter to you?”
Geoffrey froze.
“I might’ve mistaken you for someone else from the start. The person I love isn’t you.”
Geoffrey felt all blood freeze in his veins.
“I’m sorry. All these
years, I’ve held you
back because of me.”
“Now it’s better. I’m setting you free, so you should set me free too, right?”
The person I love isn’t you.
I’m setting you free…
Geoffrey’s eyes reddened slightly, his throat burning with pain.
“Impossible!”
He bit out each word.
Maureen couldn’t understand. He was the one who never liked her. He was the one who always wanted to leave. Why wouldn’t he let go now?
Geoffrey tried restraining himself, careful not to hurt her, his voice lowered: “I’ll return the Ramirez Family to you. Exactly as it was. Okay?”
Maureen didn’t respond.
He continued: “I bought back the Ramirez ancestral home too. If you come back, we can live there together.”
“If you don’t want the Ramirez estate, we’ll return to your childhood town. Small Town. Okay?”
“Whatever you want to do, whatever you desire, I’ll give it to you.

Maureen had never seen Geoffrey like this. She pried his hand away, stepping back with unyielding resolve in her eyes.
“I want nothing.”
All she desired now was peaceful days with her two children and Zoe, undisturbed.
As for love and marriage–she’d long given up on those.
Maureen thought Geoffrey would leave on his own soon, but in the following days, he actually opened a branch at Metro Center.
Right near where she lived.
You had to admit, Geoffrey was a business genius who could make it anywhere.
Some of the city’s wealthy folks got to know him one by one.
Every morning, Maureen would get a bouquet and a pricey gift.
But each time, she tossed them straight into the trash.
That day, Geoffrey even bought the whole neighborhood she lived in and moved in right next door.
Just standing on the balcony, they could see each other.
Maureen spotted him while composing on her open–air balcony.
“If you like it here, we’ll settle down for good.”
Geoffrey said.
Maureen ignored him, grabbed her sheet music, and went back inside.
Meanwhile, Wayne brought workers to renovate the place and saw Geoffrey alone on the balcony, staring at the next unit, knowing he wanted to see Maureen.
“Boss, we’ve bought the place next door. If you want to see Madam, just head over anytime.
After gauging Geoffrey’s feelings, Wayne had switched how he referred to Maureen.
Maureen was renting someone else’s property
Wayne handed over the keys he’d just received to Geoffrey today.

Geoffrey took the keys, glanced at them, then asked, “What’s the situation back home?”
“The senior executives are under control. Only Edward and his wife Kathleen are still scheming behind the scenes.”
Geoffrey dismissed them with a scoff. “Ignore them.”
Those two weren’t worth worrying about.
Wayne nodded.
“What about Alex?”
Geoffrey pressed.
Wayne hesitated before replying, “Unknown. He left the family estate after you departed Karaville. His current whereabouts are unclear.”
A shadow flickered in Geoffrey’s eyes.
He wasn’t concerned about Edward and Kathleen, but his own younger brother was another
matter.
