Andrea’s eyes were full of disappointment.
Brenda thought the same, since Geoffrey’s kindness to Andrea was unique.
As for why he wouldn’t marry her, it might really be due to their different statuses.
“Seriously, Andie, you shouldn’t think like that. To us trust fund kids, you’re genuinely impressive. We all ride on our parents‘ coattails, but you? You made it on your own.”
“Plenty would marry you even if Geoff doesn’t. What’s the big deal without him?”
Brenda comforted.
Andrea nodded.
Just then, a stretch limo pulled up before them. The window lowered, revealing a man’s refined features.
“Gotta go, my boyfriend’s here. Bye!”
Brenda happily headed toward the luxury car.
Andrea silently watched her get in, then asked her assistant: “Who’s Brenda’s boyfriend? Do you know him?”
“That’s Adam. His father runs a chain clothing business.”
The assistant replied.
Andrea only looked away after a while.
Sutton Family ancestral home.
When Geoff returned, Maureen didn’t ask about Andrea.
“Geoff, didn’t you promise to take me to see Ethan today?”

go.”
“Let’s go.
Geoff hadn’t forgotten–he’d come straight to her after the awards ceremony.
“Can I go alone?”
Geoff studied her intently. She’d been off since yesterday.
It felt exactly like five years ago, right before she’d asked for divorce.
“No.”
Geoff refused outright.
Alex didn’t feel comfortable letting Maureen

He knew her staying now mostly depended on Ethan.
“After we go together, can I be alone with him?
I don’t want constant surveillance.”
Maureen gazed at him.
Geoffrey remained noncommittal.
They left together.
At the Private Country Estate, Ethan was on the phone with his brother Jacob.
“Bro, you really got over seven billion from him?”
“Yeah, just figuring out how to transfer it overseas.”
Jacob would get caught immediately if he moved the money.
Their jerk of a dad still had tricks up his sleeve–no police report, no investigation, just waiting to catch him red–handed.
Ethan suddenly had an idea: “You could use my address here.”
Surprise flickered in Jacob’s dark eyes, quickly turning to delight.

“Why didn’t I think of making that jerk investigate himself?”
“Tonight it is.”
Private Country Estate.
Maureen and Ethan took a walk alone. On the way, she noticed the cameras, exactly as Ethan had sketched.
They reached a quiet, deserted spot. Maureen crouched down: “Ethan, Mom needs to talk to you.”
“Mm–hmm.”
“Mom will take you home in a few days. Get ready, okay?”
Ethan nodded: “Okay.”
Maureen smiled faintly and ruffled her son’s hair.
“But this is our secret. Don’t tell anyone–not the nanny or Uncle Alex.
Pinky promise?”
Maureen held out her hand.
Ethan followed naturally: “Pinky swear, a hundred years, no changing.”
Maureen felt uneasy. The child was young, but not warning him risked complications later.
Ethan saw her worry, his wide eyes innocent as they met hers.
He leaned close, whispering: “Mom, I know Uncle Alex kidnapped me for money. I’m not dumb.”
Maureen froze, torn between laughter and tears.
No point correcting him now.
“Mm–hmm. So Ethan, protect yourself when you’re alone here.”
“Don’t worry, Mommy.”
Ethan patted his little chest.

Maureen then attached a miniature communication device inside his clothing.
“Sweetie, I’ll contact you through this before you leave. Can you keep it hidden?”
“Yes! I promise to get it done.”
Ethan’s eyes curved into crescents.
Before parting, Maureen held him tightly, reluctant to let go.
Geoffrey watched the two figures–one tall, one small–from the second floor, his deep eyes swirling with complex emotions.
Wayne knocked and entered: “Mr. Sutton, the legal team has finalized the transfer agreements for all former Ramirez enterprises as you instructed.”
Geoffrey glanced at him: “Understood.”
“Shall we inform Ms. Ramirez now?”
Wayne inquired.
Geoffrey turned back toward Maureen and Ethan, only to find they’d vanished from sight.
Without answering Wayne, he bolted downstairs and out the door.
At the entrance, he found Maureen standing before him with Ethan.
They hadn’t run away…
The tension in his chest eased slightly.
Ethan chirped obediently: “Uncle Sutton.”
“Hmm.”
Maureen nudged him toward the nanny.
Ethan hugged her fiercely: “Mommy, I’ll miss you. See you next time.”
Maureen and Geoffrey got into the car with Wayne following behind.
Maureen noticed they weren’t heading to the old estate. “Where are we going?”

An hour or so later.
Sutton Group, CEO’s Office.
Wayne handed Maureen the documents Geoffrey requested.
Puzzled, she took them and immediately spotted the bold print on the cover: Transfer Agreement.
Inside detailed former subsidiaries of the Ramirez Family and ongoing contract projects…
Only after reading did she realize Geoffrey intended to transfer everything to her.
“Sign it if you find no issues,” Geoffrey stated.
Back when Geoffrey agreed to marry Maureen, everyone claimed he sought power and wealth–a power alliance to secure his CEO position against other Suttons.
