Chapter 51: Accident

"You don't have all the claw sizes and fang lengths of every wolf here, do you?"

Mira paused and then turned to look at one of Mr O'Malley's people. "Entourage Number 1 of the Ashcoats. Claw Size 20cm, Fang type: Curved, with a total length of 10cm. Eyes: Sheepish Yellow. Correct?" A built man of average height and Middle Eastern features in Mr O'Malley's entourage moved his head in confusion. He tapped on his teeth trying to confirm, but I had a sneaking suspicion Mira was correct.

"Entourage Number 2 of the Ashcoats. Claw 18.5cm, Fangs 10 cm, Eyes Grey. Entourage Number 3. Claw 19cm, Fangs 11cm Eyes, Straight Black. Entourage Number 4. Claws 24cm, Fangs 10cm, Eyes: Hazel Brown. Entourage Number 1. The GrummJaws. " Mira started, looking at Alpha Romero. So that was the name of that boy's pack.

"Entourage Number 1. Height 178cm. Eyes: Jet Black, Claws: 21cm, Fangs: 12cm. Entourage Number 2. Height 173cm. Eyes: Black Claws 23cm, Fangs. Entourage Number 3-"

Each entourage lit up their bewildered eyes as their descriptions perfectly matched up, like listing names on a role called

"Enough" boomed Winter. "I think you've made your point, Gamma Mira of the Moonlights."

"I'm glad, Ms Winter" smirked Mira again "May I proceed?"

Ms Winter nodded as she went poking about the corpses. It had been very hard to keep a composed manner up to this point. It was after the first five identifications that a cold panic began to swell in the bottom of my spine. If I was right, if there werewolves were our own people, it would take no less than a minute for Mira to ID them.

What happens next? Could I feign plausible deniability? That would be a joke. The perfect opportunity would have come for the new Alpha to decimate the Piccadilly pack. It was doubtful I would even be left alive. But yet, I remained still. Between the panic and the watchful eyes of Vincent's entourage, I remained still. And then I moved.

If I was going to die anyway, a leap of faith here would be the best course of action. I would slit the throat of Mira swiftly, and answer questions later while she bled out. While hoping that she was the sole keeper of the information required to ID all the entourages.

What would I say after the fact? There were a million things.

"I saw her silently transform her right claw to attack Burns", maybe a secret nod from Ms Winter to her that never happened, maybe she had told me something incriminating on her way in like: 'If you move an inch, I will kill so and so.

All of which were baseless and unfounded of course, and it was still easy to make the case that I killed her to cover up my own actions, but by that point, it would've become a heated internal debate between the Piccadilly and Moonlights, instead of a straight execution. An ultimately preferable option.

I was roughly 20 feet away from Mira, so the only recourse was to leap, and not sprint. Everything else simmered into nothingness as I focused all my senses on Mira's pulsating neck. I transformed my malignantly long claws and spun with a long swipe. I felt them lunge into bone and flesh and toppled with the body to the ground.

I could filter the voices of Ms Winter, Mr Burns, Jarvus and Silasn, high and alarmed, but not quite audible as I rose to verify if my victim had surrendered her life force. Hopefully, the moonlight wouldn't behead me on the spot. But unfortunately, she was still very much alive and well. In fact, she was still standing, 5 feet from me!

The person on the ground, whose neck I had used my knee to subdue, looked like one of the entourages of Mr Romero!

"What the fuck?" I spat. I ripped out my claws from his stomach area, which seemed to inflict more injury than when it went in. The entourage still had a steady breathing, but it was obvious he was not long for this world.

"Alpha Romero! Sit back down" instructed a voice that sounded like Winter's. I looked up front to witness the young Alpha standing and staring defiantly into Vincent's eyes.

"What - exactly are you doing?" asked Vincent slowly.

Romero laughed. "I don't suppose I can exactly walk through the door after that?"

"What have you done?!" interrogated Winter.

"Come on Madam Winter, who could pass up such a prime opportunity to take out the Moonlight Alpha when presented with one?" sighed Romero. "It would've been so glorious" The boy stepped away from the table and scanned through everyone's faces, and n seeing mine, widened the curve of the smile. "If it wasn't for you," he said.

My heart skipped a beat when I thought of me, but soon it was obvious he was talking to Mira.

"You're under arrest, Mr Romero. For treason" Mira smirked back.
