Chapter 31 Chapter 31 The Beach
George has been acting weird since breakfast. He snuck into my room last night—through the damn window, mind you. I thought we had fun. I am still a little sore; he rushed me into it. He was drunk. He went out with his brother, and I decided to rest. They went to a club.
We had breakfast, and I went to the market with his mom and aunt. Athena told George that tomorrow he has to take me to the Cyclops Caves and that he shouldn’t stay out drinking. George has been moping around the house on his phone, texting.
We had lunch at an adorable restaurant right on the beach. Chairs and tables in the sand, white tablecloths—still very fancy. I had a salad because I do want to take a dip in the ocean. There is a weird feeling buzzing under my skin. Something is off. His phone rested on the table upside down—since when does he do that? I wasn’t born yesterday. Something happened.
"Here you go!" says Anna, handing me a drink. My fake ID is useless here; I turn eighteen in two weeks.
I push my glasses up and sit up on my beach lounger. The weather is heavenly. I love the way the sea smells. The sand is almost white, the water a turquoise blue. Anna looks at my dress and shakes her head. I nod at her—I know. As soon as I take it off, they are all going to ogle me. I set my drink down and pull the dress over my head. I can almost feel their eyes roll over my skin; it’s unsettling.
"I am going to go in the water! Want to come?" I ask him.
He lifts his glasses and shakes his head no. I dip down and give him a quick kiss, then walk my sweet ass to the water. Dipping my toes in, then going in to my knees. The water is warm. I dip all the way in and swim out. Then I level out and float over the gentle waves, just looking at the perfect blue sky. My body feels at peace. I am so relaxed.
After what felt like a lifetime, I swam back. As I walked out of the water, I noticed his parents are gone. Kostas, George, and Tommy are laying out on the loungers, and Anna is back at the bar.
Once I reach them, I crawl over his lounger and get between his legs. He is so warm. Kostas is staring at me. George shoots him a look and covers me with a towel. He kisses my forehead as he holds me; water from my hair drips over his chiseled chest. I can feel him get hard under me. Rolling off him, I sit up and grab my phone. I post a bunch of pictures of us and tag us here. Tommy turns and looks at us.
"So, are you going to see her again tonight?" says Tommy in Greek.
"Shut up!"
"What… she doesn’t speak Greek. Are you going to see the blonde from last night?" he asks again.
I can’t fucking breathe. I feel a lump form in my throat. Kostas shifts in his seat.
"If she wants to come to the club… I am going to have to go see her after. Last night, after Zoe gave me head, I went and fucked Elle." He laughs.
I am going to fucking puke. Trying to hold a straight face is proving difficult. The ground just opened up under me and is swallowing me whole. I reach for my drink while George gives explicit details to his brother about this blonde who sucked his dick—the bonus, her mouth is big enough to swallow him up.
I laugh at myself inside my head. That’s what I get for cheating on Matt. Karma. Just fucking great. Keep it together. What the fuck am I going to do? … I am blanking out. Why? Hello, Elena—you are Bulgarian. Your hometown is three fucking hours away from here. Call my cousins. I take a breath in and count—one… two… three… release. I am fine. I’ve got money. I will get my own ticket and fly home to the States. Fuck this motherfucker. Who cheats on this body? I know my head is big, but it’s because I can replace him in seconds. God damn it, I can fuck his cousin if I want to. Who the fuck does he think he is?
"Elle, are you ok? You look a little green?" asks Kostas.
"I am fine. Too much sun, probably," I lie as I take my phone and text my cousin right away.
George continues to talk about how good the head he got was. Fucker. My cousin calls me after getting my text for a ride.
"Pick you up? What are you talking about?" he asks.
"I am in Greece, in Makri!" I say in Bulgarian. "It’s my cousin!" I say to George in English because he is looking at me with questions.
"Send me the address! I will send someone right now!"
We hang up. My body will be on edge until I leave. My head feels fuzzy.
I sit back down and continue to listen to this guy I thought was sweet talk filthy about me. Picking up my dress, I put it back on to cover up. My skin is crawling with his words. He reaches for me, and I fight the urge to move. His hand burns my skin.
"Are you cold, baby?" He looks over at me. "We should go and get cleaned up before dinner. We can chill at the beach by the house."
"Yea, ok."
The walk to the house is quick. I look at the street and then the house number and text it to my cousin. He sends me back a thumbs-up. George pulls me in for a hug and whispers that he loves me. I give him the best smile I can muster. Inside, I am dead.
Kostas and I enter the house. I lean my back against the door and slide down to the floor. I can’t stop the tears. They keep falling as I watch Kostas get on his knees, trying to calm me down.
