"And you know what? You're pretty much useless. Just for a bit of bar profit, you don't even care if your own woman is getting harassed. It's pathetic that Ms. Larson has to stick around someone like you," I said, dripping with contempt.
I glanced at Matthew's sour face. I was already grossed out by him when he asked me to join the erotic transaction. Now, after this, my disgust for him had skyrocketed.
"You know nothing about this! You idiot!" Matthew's face turned dark. He cursed at me, not giving a damn about his image as a general manager.
"Must've hit a nerve, huh?" I sneered.
Matthew opened his mouth to say something, but his phone rang. He pulled out his phone, glanced at the screen, and answered with a fake smile.
"Mrs. Cole, what can I do for you?" Matthew walked towards the door with the phone, shooting me a glare as he passed.
He didn't close the office door all the way, so I could still hear his conversation.
"Are your guys okay? You want to meet the kid who just got into a fight? Mrs. Cole, he's just an employee here. Maybe cut him some slack. If someone dies here, it won't just be me explaining it to his family. Things will get a lot worse for you, too, if this blows up."
After Mrs. Cole said something, Matthew caved. He hung up, walked back into the office, and sat across from me. "Mrs. Cole is coming to see you. Tone down the attitude, don't provoke her."
With that, he stood up and left the office.
"Got it," I replied, still puzzled.
Was Matthew just pleading for me? Why? I was the one causing him trouble. Shouldn't he want me punished?
Soon, the office door swung open, and I looked over.
The woman who had called walked in.
I barely noticed her in the private room earlier, and I didn't expect her to be such a knockout.
She wore a tight short-sleeved top that highlighted her full chest, and I could even see the outline of her bra.
Her chest moved with each step, looking incredibly sexy.
She had on tight jeans that perfectly outlined her round butt.
She walked straight to Matthew's desk and sat down with a lazy, almost arrogant posture. She crossed her legs on the table, showing off her long, slender legs.
"You must be David?" she said casually.
I nodded. "That's me."
"Take off your clothes. Let me see your wounds," she said lazily, pointing at me.
I was a bit confused. Wasn't she here to cause trouble for me?
But I did as she said. I unbuttoned my shirt and jacket, letting them fall behind me.
My upper body was mostly fine, just a few bruises here and there.
When she saw my body, she took a deep breath.
She walked slowly towards me, stopping just in front of me. Leaning back against the edge of the table, she rested her hands on either side of her. "You've got quite a physique. You must work out regularly, don't you?"
"Not really, just say what you want to say." I spread my knees a bit to avoid touching her legs.
But that move made my situation pretty obvious.
Even though I still had my pants on, my erection was clear as day, straining against the fabric.
Yeah, the moment I saw her, I got hard.
She was a military officer's wife. I definitely couldn't mess around with her. If anyone found out, I'd probably get shot.
Seeing my reaction, she smiled slightly. "Looks like your injuries aren't that bad after all."
"Yeah, your guys are just average," I replied, wiping the blood still oozing from the corner of my mouth.
"I can see you've got some fight in you," she said, her eyes glinting with interest. "I'm Nancy Cole. I have another reason for finding you. How about becoming my bodyguard?"
Was she messing with me?
I said straight up, "Mrs. Cole, you've got thousands of special forces at your disposal. Why would you want me as your bodyguard? You must be overestimating me."
"What's the use of having so many special forces? Didn't you still beat them?" Nancy said, casually playing with her nails, her tone light and airy. "Just tell me if you're in or not."
"If you agree to be my bodyguard, the salary is twenty grand a month, and the hours are flexible. Considering you still have a job, I only need you to be my bodyguard when I'm in your city," she added.
I raised an eyebrow slightly, not saying anything.
Was this too good to be true? Was she trying to trick me?
"Are you trying to use this to find another chance to take me out?" I asked.
Nancy chuckled, took two steps towards me, and knelt on the remaining chair space between my legs.
She leaned forward slightly, reached out a slender finger under my chin, and lifted my face a bit. "If I wanted you dead, I wouldn't be here talking nicely."
"I'd just shoot you." Nancy lowered her head slowly towards me, pulling my hand to her waist as she did.
Her waist was slim, and my palm could almost wrap around it.
My fingers roamed around her lower back, and suddenly, I felt a bulge on her waist.
I carefully felt it and traced the outline.
It felt like a pistol.
Nancy saw my guess and laughed lightly, pulling the thing from her waist.
Her slender finger went into the holster, turned it, and the pistol spun in her hand.
"Yeah, it's a pistol," Nancy's voice was cold, like a ghost whispering. It was eerie, sending chills down my spine.
"If I wanted you dead, I could just pull the trigger and kill you, and no one would expose me. They might even help me bury the body." With that, she aimed the pistol at my heart and pressed it forward.
I leaned back in the chair, gazing at her calmly.
Her words were intimidating, but her face was delicate, with a faint smile.
She didn't really want to kill me, just trying to scare me.
I held her wrist, the one gripping the pistol, my thumb gently caressing her skin.
Nancy's gaze stayed calm, but her heavy breathing and quickening heartbeat gave her away.
