Chapter 170 - My Rejected Wife Is A Billionaire

Erin couldn't help but recall the recent harrowing experience.

She and Elio were so close to their death.

"You asked me to find a woman, didn't you? I searched everywhere to no avail. Then, I figured I might as well just pick up any mentally disturbed woman from the shelter to fill in. Little did I expect to actually find her there," Elio replied.

"She's such a lunatic. I was worried that she might screw things up, so I didn't dare to let Justin know about her. Yet, ironically, she became our savior."

Julie was now their only ticket to redemption, a fact they were determined to exploit fully.

"Don't waste time pondering what-ifs. From now on, ensure Julie is well-cared for. She's Justin's prized possession now. Any slip-up and we're all doomed," Erin warned.

Elio had also witnessed Justin's ruthlessness. He readily agreed, "Don't worry. I'll make her a princess."

Erin, however, looked at Julie with little affection.

To her, Julie had always been the unremarkable sister, quietly existing without ambition.

But now, she actually found favor in Justin's eyes. This was a fact Erin found difficult to stomach despite its potential benefits.

"How did you lose your cornea?" Erin demanded coldly, her grip on Julie's chin tightening as she inspected her eye.

Julie whimpered in protest, struggling to free herself from Erin's grasp.

Erin became impatient and tightened her grip. "Speak up, or I'll kill you!"

"What are you doing?" Elio happened to come over and pushed Erin away, scolding her for her harsh treatment. "Are you insane? How dare you lay a finger on her? Have you forgotten Justin's warning already?"

Feeling upset, Erin could only simmer in silence, resentment brewing within her.

While chewing her food, Julie suddenly murmured, "C...Cecy... I'm Sissi, she's Cecy. Cecy's eyes... Cecy is brave."

Elio thought Julie was babbling nonsense and nodded causally, but Erin frowned in thought.

If her memory served her right, Elio had once lived with Cecilia's father, Edgar, and even apprenticed under him.

Elio had named himself Borian and given Julie the name "Sissi".

They had spent a considerable time with Edgar.

Cecy... Sissi...

Erin chewed over Julie's words and abruptly stood up, her sudden movement causing the table to jostle.

Elio looked at her bewilderedly. "What's wrong?"

Without uttering a word, Erin picked up her bag and hurriedly left the house.

Today wasn't particularly busy, so Cecilia finished work earlier than usual.

Edgar had been concerned about Sissi, fearing she might not be faring well at the shelter.

Since she had decided to send Sissi to the shelter, Cecilia felt she was supposed to check on her.

She drove Edgar to the shelter, and after completing some paperwork, they finally met with the shelter's manager.

"Sissi was claimed by her family a couple of days ago," the manager informed them upon learning of their visit.

"Claimed?" Surprise crossed Edgar's face, and Cecilia exchanged a look with him.

"Are you sure?" Cecilia pressed.

"Absolutely," the manager confirmed. "It was her father who claimed her. We've just completed paternity testing; the results are indisputable."

The manager knew such matters needed to be handled with care.

"If you're still uneasy, you could file a request to access the relative's contact information," he suggested, although as a manager, he lacked the authority to disclose it directly.

"No need." Edgar waved his hand and declined.

As they exited the manager's office, Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "Why don't we go to find Borian? He stole quite a bit of money from you back in the day."

Edgar walked ahead with his hands clasped behind him and waved off the idea. "There's no point. Too much time has passed to dwell on it. Besides, he did bring his daughter back, which shows he hasn't completely lost his moral compass. Let's just let it go."

Cecilia eventually agreed to drop the matter.

It was nearly time for school to let out, so she headed to pick up Nico.

Arriving a few minutes early, she decided to check her phone under a nearby tree.

Deep into viewing the news, she was suddenly yanked forward by a strong pull.

Staggering for balance, she looked up to find a familiar woman staring back at her.
