POV: Adalind
I'm in Black River now. I'm staying in the Packhouse with Cameron. I do have a little more freedom here but I still have to report to dad where I am at all times. I'm to do this with Cam and Aiden now as well.
Before Aiden left he made sure to give me his number so that we could talk. Caleb is back at university. He came back the day before I left. I filled him in on everything that happened with Aiden. He doesn't think I should forgive him right away and I haven't. That pain that I would feel when he was with another woman still haunts me.
I haven't felt that pain so far since Aiden gave in. I don't fully trust him either. Jasper arrived at the pack yesterday. He is very patient and quiet. He only speaks when he deems it nessasary.
Jasper is who I'm with now. He's teaching me how to compell someone. He thought we should start with something easier and move up to the hard stuff instead of what Aiden was doing. Aiden said that I could trust him. How am I supposed to trust him when I don't even fully trust Aiden.
Vampires can't compell each other. The older ones can compell other vampires. With vampires the older you are the stronger you are. For example Aiden can compell anyone even a vampire he wants. Jasper says that Aiden is the oldest Vampire in the world now.
I wonder how Aiden came to be a vampire. I guess I will have to ask him some time. Were using pack members to practice on. Cameron says it is to be only voluntarily so we can't just pick a person and compell them against their will.
Cam also offered to use the rogues in the cells if we want. Thats what we mainly do. There aren't a whole lot of people volunteering to be willingly compelled.
That's where we are now is down in the cells. Jasper always makes me feed first. He says it is Aiden's orders. Of course Aiden would. I drink the entire bag so we can get started.
So far I have found compulsion to be easy. A guard opens a cell up and we enter. The rogue is sitting on the ground. He looks up. "A little girl and a vampire. My. My this is a new one. Whats the little girl going to do?" The rogue taunts.
"Begin. Remember to make eye contact. That is key." Jasper says ignoring the rogues words. "Im not a little girl. Look here and I'll show just who I am." I tell the rogue. "Oh really? Well let's see just what you got." He says challengingly. We make eye contact and I hold it. "Good now spin around until I tell you to stop." I say.
The rogue begins to spin round and round. "Enough." Jasper says after a minute of him spinning. "Stop." I command. He does. "You did good. Now make him tell you something." Jasper instructs.
I hold my eye contact with the rogue. He hasn't gained his sense yet from the dizziness. "Tell me why are you rogue?" I ask. "Thats not your.... I killed my former Alpha's daughter." The rogue glares at me. "A bit of a delay. Forcing someone to say something requires a bit more force so try pushing it deeper." Jasper says.
"Do I try again?" I ask. "Yes. Again." Jasper says. I do like i did before only this time I push more to his mind. "Why did you kill the Alpha's daughter?" I ask.
"Because she rejected my advances so if I couldn't have her no one could." He answers with no delay. "Better." Jasper says. "What now?" I ask.
"You need to practice on a more guarded mind. Some are easier to get through than others." He answers. "Who would that be?" I ask. "People like your father or even your brother. Basically Alphas. Anyone thats very dominant."
"Maybe I could convince Cam but that is a hard maybe." I say. No way would Cameron ever allow himself to be compelled. "Thats it for today. We will pick this up tomorrow." Jasper leaves.
I leave the cell and go back inside the packhouse. Grandma and grandpa live here in Black River. They used to live in the palace to be closer to mom but they decided to move back here. I've been helping grandma with her bakery.
My grandparents have been helping Cam out a lot here in the pack. He did only be come Alpha last year. Ben was over seeing the pack until he could take over. Cam does have his own beta. His beta is his best friend, Logan.
Ben went back to the palace and is now retired. He's an elder now. Uncle Liam also comes and visits a lot. He mostly does it to check in on Cameron and help him out. He stayed in Black River until Cam and I got here.
"Hey Adalind want to play a game with us?" Cameron asks me. Him and Logan are in the game room playing Super Mario oddessy. "Sure. Prepare to lose." I challenge. Mom made sure that we were well versed in playing games. Dad always beat her so she wanted someone to beat him. Mom uses us to gang up on dad. This is why the three of us are very competitive.
"Game on little sister." Cameron challenges. I grab a controller. The three of us play. Cam won two rounds and I won three. Poor Logan didn't win any. "I won. I won." I do a little victory dance. "You look like a chicken running around with no head." Cam teases.
"Yeah well this chicken just beat you." I say. We settle down and sit on the couch. "So how are your lessons going?" Cam asks. He also has to report to dad about me so he always asks me things every day. "Fine but I do need to practice on a stronger mind. I was hoping you would volunteer."
"Hell no!" He stands up placing his hand on his hips. "Come on Cameron. It won't be anything bad. Do you want that Darach guy to get me? What if this is the one ability that saves me?" I say trying to convince him.
"What would you do exactly? Walk me through it?" Cam sits down. I walk him through it step by step. I tell him what we did with the Rogue. Then I would just have him do something like the chicken dance or something harmless like that. It took a lot of coaxing but he eventually gave in with conditions of course. He gave me a list of questions I can ask him and activities I can make him do. It was all very harmless things.
"I swear Adalind if you tell dad anything I answer to these questions I'll tell dad all your secrets." Cameron threatens. I agree to his terms.
After my conversation with Cameron I go to my room to video call with Aiden. We agreed to Video call at least once a day. He said he just wants to see my face and see that I'm ok.
I grab my tablet and set the call up putting my tablet on it's stand. I wait for him to join the call. After thirty minutes of him not answering I send him a text to tell him I'm waiting. Five minutes later he responds and another five minutes he answers the call.
"Hello." He say coming in veiw of the camera. "Hi. How has your day been?" I ask. "Fine. I still haven't found him." He answers. Aiden always has this same look. Its a brooding no smile look. I swear he never smiles. "Oh. Are you at least getting close some what?" I ask.
"No. He's cloaked. He could be standing right behind me and I wouldn't know it. I will eventually get past it though. How was your day. How are your lessons going?" He answers.
"My day was ok. My lessons went ok too. I had one delay this time but after he corrected it I tried again and got it. Now he wants me to try on a stronger mind." I tell him. "Thats good. Who are you going to practice on?" He asks. "Cameron. He only agreed with lots of conditions."
"Alpha minds do tend to be pretty strong. The more dominant a person the more guarded the mind. However thats not always the case. Sometimes with people who have e been hurt a lot and abused their minds tend to be more guarded. Another hard one is a moon blessed but it is forbidden that anyone compell a moon blessed." Aiden says.
"Wow you went right to teacher mode professor. Why is it forbidden for vampires to compell a moon blessed. I would think because of the relationship with our two kinds it wouldn't be like that?" I ask.
"Vampires serve the moon goddess too. We worship her the same as werewolves and lycans do. Your mother wouldn't tell your father this. The moon blessed serves vampires too. It was a moon blessed that told me this prophecy centuries ago." He answers.
I didn't know that. I guess it makes sense though. Vampires are most comfortable and stronger at night. Wolves and lycans are bond by the moon. I'm bond by the moon the most. It was a moon that made me what I am.
"I guess the moon goddess sent the prophecy to reunite her two species back as one. She doesn't like that they are enemies." I say. "I guess not. Anymore questions before class is dismissed?" Was that a joke?
"Actually it's more of a personal one. I was wondering how you came to be a vampire?" I ask. "That is very personal and should be answered in person. That is a very long story." He says.
"Oh. Will you tell me when you get here?" I ask. "Yes. Anyway I should go. I have something that needs my attention. I will see you tomorrow." He says. I tell him bye and end the call. I miss him. I know he was mean and horrible to me but I miss him.
