Chapter 24 Twenty Four
DANIKA
I am most definitely not dreaming, I think. But how is he standing here in my room looking as sexy as a forbidden fruit? He's half hidden by the shadows and slightly illuminated by the moon's glow, his muscles in full display. Those shimmering blue eyes of his are wide, his damp hair falling loosely over his face and hanging down to his shoulders. He seems to be just as shocked as I am. Did he teleport? Do werewolves even do that?
"I—" he sighs, rubbing the back of his neck. He's short of words. I almost smile. But for some reason, my gaze keeps lowering to the obvious bulge under his towel.
I swallow hard, my throat dry.
"Are we just going to gawk at each other?" I croak, forcing my gaze to meet his.
"I panicked. It's the only thing that explains why I'm here," he rasps, and my mind instantly goes haywire.
Was Eve telling the truth?
Did Kaziel really—
He sighs, pushing his fingers through his hair.
"What did she tell you?" He asks, and my gaze darts across the room. What if he doesn't like my response and decides to kill me to hide his secret?
No, stop!
Kaziel is not like that.
I'm...his mate.
"Danika?" I nearly jump out of my skin when he snaps his fingers in front of my face. He's suddenly by my bedside, crouching.
An expression of hurt flashes across his features as he pulls away from me, and my heart sinks.
He doesn't deserve such cold treatment. Communication is key, right?
“She said she knew your ex-girlfriend,” I say, my throat tight. “She told me… she told me you killed her.”
His eyes widen with shock.
"W-what?"
I blink at him, surprised by his stammer. He looks like he's just been stabbed in the heart.
"You didn't kill her, right?" I say, my voice trembling.
He lowers his gaze, his eyes downcast. My stomach twists.
"I might as well have killed her," he breathes, and I frown.
He straightens, scratching at his wrist. He has this strange, haunted look in his face. It's like he's no longer there with me. He's trapped in a painful memory.
Easing out of bed, I move over to him, placing a hand on his chest. His heart is beating so fast.
"Kaziel," I whisper, my chest aching at the sight of him.
“She died because I… failed her,” he croaks. His jaw tightens. “Just like my mother. And…”
His mother?
Why do I feel like he's blaming himself for something that might not be his fault?
"Look at me, hot stuff," I say, entwining my fingers with his.
The pain in his eyes lightens as his gaze finds mine. "Hot stuff?"
My cheeks heat up. I didn't even realize that I've just given him a nickname. It is perfect, isn't it, though?
"You didn't kill her with your own hands, right?"
A slight frown creases his brows. Then he nods. I let out the exhale I didn't know I was holding.
"That's all I wanted to hear," I breathe, and his frown deepens.
"But—"
I lean up on my tiptoes to kiss him, silencing him. His breath hitches, and slowly, he wraps his arms around me, pulling me close.
He easily melts into my touch.
Is it too early to say I want to marry him?
When we pull apart for air, he cups my face, the pad of his thumb stroking my cheek.
"I can't lose you, sweetheart. It will kill me. Not just because of the curse, but because I..." His voice cracks, and the ache in his voice pulls at emotions. "I won't be able to survive another loss. Especially not you."
"You won't lose me, okay?" I tell him, and he swallows hard.
"You cannot trust Eve, you hear me? You have to be careful around her," he says, and I nod.
"We're going to be okay."
I glance down at the towel hanging low on his hips and the dangerous V lines disappearing into the fabric. Focus, Dani!
"You said you panicked...does this mean you can teleport at will, too?" I ask.
"Unfortunately…no."
My eyes bulge in their sockets. "I don't have any clothes you can wear. You're too...big."
Heat creeps up at my neck. Kaziel chuckles.
"I'll call someone to bring me clothes by dawn. Hopefully, I'll be able to sneak out before your roommates wake up."
I bite my lower lip, peeking up at him through my lashes.
"So...what are we going to do before...you know?" I say and a smirk curls his lips.
Without warning, he crashes his lips against mine.
He scoops me off my feet, and I instinctively wrap my legs around his waist. He pins me to the wall and kisses along my neck. I chuckle, sliding my arms up his shoulders as my favourite scent floods my nostrils. Oh my, I'm in love with his scent.
"You were holding back, weren't you?" I giggle, and he kisses me on the lips.
"You have no idea."
Oh, I know. I'm a hundred percent aware of the growing bulge under his towel.
I moan as he buries his face against my neck, nipping and teasing me with his teeth. He's definitely going to leave more than just one love bite. And honestly, I don't mind.
He moves us to the bed, kissing along my collarbones. I moan, tangling my fingers in his hair.
"I fucking love your tits," he whispers, and I bite my lower lip to hold back a cry of pleasure as he squeezes them and pinches a nipple.
"Shh, dove. You’ll wake your roommates," he drawls, his eyes glinting with mischief.
A shudder runs through me as I tug him closer, my hands roaming over his chest. My fingertips find the glint of metal on his nipple, and on instinct, I flick my tongue across it.
He groans, fisting the sheets on either side of me.
"Fuck," he hisses as I run my teeth over the hard flesh, reaching down to squeeze him through his towel. "Don't do that if you're not prepared for the consequences, Dani."
His voice is a rough growl that vibrates straight to my throbbing core.
With my blood roaring in my ears, I attempt to flip us. He lets me, gasping when I end up on his straining cock, latching onto his neck.
"You like that?" I whisper against his ear, dragging my teeth across his earlobe as I rock myself on his cock.
A guttural moan slips from his lips, his hand resting on my waist.
"Where have you been hiding this part of you?" He growls, his fingers digging into my waist as I move faster, setting a frantic rhythm. My panties are soaked at this point, pleasure blinding me.
He captures one of my nipples through my t-shirt, tugging and stroking between his fingers. Our heavy breathing mingles in the air, the friction between us driving me crazy.
"Just like that, baby girl. Murder me with those thighs," Kaziel utters.
I whimper, gripping his shoulders for support as he lifts me higher with my shirt rolled up, adjusting us so that his mouth latches at a sensitive bud.
"I'm going to cum," I shiver, my stomach clenching tighter and tighter.
"Let go, sweet thing. Let me feel that pussy weep," he groans against my flesh.
My body trembles hard as my climax hits, a hoarse cry tearing from my lungs.
....
"You're glowing, Dani," Cora tells me as we head inside the main campus the next morning. She's grinning from ear to ear, nudging me in the ribs.
I'm a hundred percent sure that I've gone red in the face. Cora definitely heard me last night. And even though she's not saying it right now, I have a feeling she's not going to let me live this one down.
"Did you sleep well last night?" She proceeds to ask me, and I look away from her, embarrassed.
I had the best sleep of my life last night. Kaziel had cuddled me the whole time. Being wrapped up in a cocoon of warm dark chocolate. That's what it felt like. I want to do it often.
Before we fell asleep, I'd offered to give him a blowjob, and what did he say to me?
'You've got classes tomorrow.'
Obviously, he doubts my BJ skills. Well, I've never done it before, but I've always wanted to. Is he worried I'd choke to death?
Well, judging by the approximate size of what I'd seen through the towel, maybe he had a valid point.
"Isn't that your boyfriend?"
My head whips up before I even bother thinking. Walking in our direction is Tyler. A tall, model-like lady is perched on his arm, laughing about something. She looks like a goddess even with her dyed red hair in a pixie cut.
They both stop in front of us, and Cora shifts her weight awkwardly.
"You must be Cakes! The chubby and short one who's apparently such a sweet girl. Ty told me a lot about you. Nice to meet you. I'm Hera!" She chirps, holding out a hand for a handshake.
Chubby and short one? Really?
My gaze darts to Tyler. He looks uncomfortable. Good. He should be.
"Nice to meet you too," I drone, grabbing Cora's hand and walking away.
"Does he know?!" Hera yells, and I halt, annoyed.
Blowing out a breath, I turn to look at her. She beams at me.
"Does he know what you really are?" She asks, the smile on her face fading.
What I am?
What does that mean?
She turns away, and I see it on the back of her neck. A familiar tattoo. The same one I'd seen on one of the men who had attacked me that night. A skull and a serpent poking from one of the eye sockets. Chills instantly crawl down my spine. Who is she?
