Chapter 125 My Angel | 018
NOELLE
Sabrina stumbles back clutching her cheek, a sob bursting out of her. I stare at her in utter disbelief. She's...crying? What? She spins on her heel and hurries out of the room, the door banging shut behind her.
Azren stands frozen in the middle of the room, confusion written all over his face. His chest rises and falls slowly, like he's trying to process what just happened.
I glare at him, my chest heaving.
He frowns. "Are you mad at me?"
"Yes!" The word explodes out of me without restraint.
His lips twitch. It's not quite a smile, but it's close enough that heat floods my face. He smirks and my stomach flip.
"You're really something, Angel," he murmurs, his voice husky.
I turn away quickly, hot tears pricking my eyes. He doesn't get it. He can't see it. Sabrina's spell is still wrapped around his mind like barbed wire, and every time I try to scream the truth, it twists tighter. He thinks this is just jealousy. He thinks I'm overreacting.
I hear him move closer. Then his hand catches mine firm enough that I can't pull away. He whirls me back around to face him.
The blanket slips in that exact moment, crumpling at my feet in a soft heap.
I gasp, my arms flying up to cover myself instinctively, but it's too late. I'm completely bare in front of him, blood already staining the insides of my thighs, sticky and warm.
His pupils blow wide, black swallowing blue until there's almost nothing left but hunger.
"You're on your period," he says, his voice going deeper.
I nod, my cheeks burning so hot I'm surprised they don't catch fire.
He smiles wickedly. Then he jerks his chin towards the bathroom.
"Undress," he says softly. "I'll join you soon."
My mouth falls open. "What?"
"You heard me, Angel."
I stare at him, my heart slamming against my ribs. He's looking at me like I'm something precious and filthy at the same time, like he wants to devour me and worship me in the same breath.
I should argue. I should tell him no, that this is insane, that I'm bleeding and gross and—
But my feet are already moving.
I walk into the bathroom on shaky legs.
The space is jaw-dropping. The marble floors gleam under soft golden light, there's a rainfall shower the size of a small bedroom, and glass walls fogging instantly from the heat still lingering in the air. There's a jacuzzi too.
Everything smells like him in here. Gosh.
I reach for the taps, my fingers trembling. There are too many shiny chrome levers and dials I don't understand. I twist one at random.
Ice-cold water blasts out like a fire hose. I scream and stumble backwards, my arms flailing.
A warm hand closes over mine, steadying the tap.
Azren.
He's behind me now, his chest brushing my back, his skin fever-hot against my chilled skin. He twists the correct dial with ease.
I gulp.
"I'm on my period," I blurt, my voice cracking. "It's... it's gross. We shouldn't—"
He chuckles against my ear, the sound vibrating straight down my spine.
"It's even better," he murmurs.
W-what?
I glance at him over my shoulder and find his eyes glowing a bright red. My legs shake, threatening to give out.
I take an instinctive step back.
He follows, crowding me against the cool tile wall.
"Come on now, don't be shy. You asked me to have the whole meal, didn't you, wife?" He drawls, and I gulp.
"T-that was different!"
"Hmm? It was? I'm starving, Noelle. Can you not see that?" He asks with a slight frown.
My eyes go wide as my gaze dips to his cock. I nearly pass out when I take in the sheer size. I can't remember him being this huge. How is this possible?
My mouth goes dry as I eye the glistening tip and the veins along his powerful rod. I'm going to die, won't I?
There's no way I can survive that.
He's too close now, his scent wrapping around me like a glorious cocoon. He plants one hand on the wall beside my head, his eyes lingering on my lips.
For one terrified, thrilling second I think he's going to fuck me right here.
Instead, he presses a kiss to my forehead.
"Azalea brought some stuff for you earlier when you were unconscious. Take whatever you need," he says.
Then he leaves. Holy...shit.
Only then do I see the transparent box of tampons and underwear on the counter. Immense relief sinks into me, and I close my eyes, making a mental note to thank his sister as soon as possible.
...
By the time I was refreshed and clean, dressed in Azren's big T-shirt, I went ahead to do the laundry. The cramps seem to have lessened, but I'm sleepy now. I don't head back to my room. Instead, I head straight for Azren's room. To my disappointment, he isn't back yet. I can't help but wonder if he went after Sabrina. Anger boils inside of me at the thought.
Gritting my teeth, I stare at his inviting bed. My eyelids grow even heavier as I stand there.
"To hell with it," I mumble, sinking into the bed, the soft sheets welcoming me.
A sigh slips out of me, my eyes sliding closed. This is bliss. I curl on my side, basking in Azren's scent.
I must've dozed off. I'm awoken by the feel of soft lips peppering kisses along my neck. Azren.
A sleepy smile tugs at my mouth as he snakes a hand under the hem of the shirt and rests it on my lower belly right where the cramps are starting to rip me apart.
"What are you doing in my bed, Noelle?" He whispers, and I melt against his body, keeping my eyes closed.
"Accepting your invitation," I whisper breathlessly.
He rubs gentle circles over my soft belly, soothing me in a way I didn't think was possible.
"Does it hurt?" He whispers, and I rest my head against his chest.
"Yes. But your touch makes it better," I reply.
He stiffens and suddenly starts to pull away, but I hold him there.
"What happened earlier wasn't your fault, Azren. Your touch didn't make me lose my mind. Actually, I..."
I squeeze my eyes shut, my chest burning. I have to twist the narrative.
"I'm very clumsy, you see?" I croak, and he sighs.
"Noelle..."
He resumes rubbing my belly again.
"Actually, I... I was very emotional after hearing Sabrina tell you to stay away from me because I'm fragile. It hurt a lot," I tell him, and his breath hitches.
"I don't want to hurt you, you know that. You saw how dangerous—"
"You may not know this now. I might sound like a desperate person, but the truth is, you are all I have left now."
Azren sits up, and I do the same, turning to face him. He's shirtless now, the smell of soap lingering on him. He must've showered while I was asleep.
"Then promise me something," he says hoarsely.
I search his beautiful eyes intently, and he entwines our fingers together.
"Promise me you'll run if things get too tough," he tells me, and I gape at him.
"Azren..."
He cups the back of my head with his free hand and rests his forehead against mine.
"Please, baby. Promise me," he pleads, his voice cracking slightly.
I swallow hard. "Only on one condition."
"Tell me," Azren urges.
"You can't let Sabrina come between us. You have to trust me. No matter what."
He stares at me for a long moment like he's thinking about it.
Then he exhales. "Deal."
He leans in to kiss me on the lips with a heart-racing intensity. I can barely catch my breath as his lips ravage mine like a wild beast. I moan feverishly, my hands resting on his chest.
When the kiss ends, he looks into my eyes again.
"You're so ethereal, you know that, right?" He whispers, and tears well up in my eyes.
He pulls me into his arms, holding me to himself and stroking my hair.
"Mum wants you to come over for dinner tomorrow. Is that okay?" He asks, and I nod.
A frantic knock sounds at the door, and Azren glances at it, his expression blank.
"Come in," he says, and a handsome young man with brown eyes and blonde hair rushes in. He's got a round tattoo on the side of his neck. It looks like a snake eating its tail.
"Alpha, we’ve got a big problem,” the visitor says, and Azren blinks.
“What is it?”
“It’s Haden. He’s spreading word, saying you have a golden wolf in your house.”
Azren stiffens. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
The stranger’s eyes dart over to me, and I shrink back, bewildered. Me? What the hell is a golden wolf? And why is Azren staring at me like I just grew two horns on my forehead?
