Chapter 20: Trapped

“Isn't he fucking hot?” The girls giggled, ogling at him while sipping from their glasses.

I was ogling just as much. Right from when he made his entrance. His all-black attire was sexy as fuck. And those dark shades and the few locks he braided his hair into. He looked every bit the stud tonight.

Him. Vince Walker. The man of the night.

It was finally his birthday and I've been feeling as crappy as I knew I'd feel if I came here. Been feeling that way since I walked right through the door.

But at the same time, I was glad I came. Seeing him again this close soothed a part of me that had been so cocooned in depression in the last few weeks.

“I know I shouldn't say this, but…the thought of how big he'd be down there always gets me dangerously excited.”

“Keisha!” The other girls giggled alongside her. It was typical girls' gossip. I should join in the fun. But I was so sensitive to their jokes that I couldn't even bring myself to smile.

Especially since I've seen it, had it thrusted inside me, and it was indeed big and fucking perfect.

I can't help feeling a little bit possessive and jealous over it.

“But I feel you, girl. A man that hot definitely has it all. Luna Vanessa has to be the luckiest woman in the Pack…”

She is. No doubt.

“And Elena, the second luckiest.” They added, getting my attention. “You who managed to snag up his sexy son. You're so lucky.”

I smiled, but it was hard. What was I doing with these girls? I mean, they were the daughters of the higher elders of the Pack.

But their showoff lifestyle and gossiping always made me avoid them. Tracy was more their type than I was. So how the heck did I find myself standing closer to them?

Maybe because I didn't wanna be alone. There's a massive attendance of the press and the paparazzi. It's scaring the shit out of me.

After my scandal, I've been indoors because Father and Trent advised it was the best thing to do, just until the scandal fades.

Seeing them here is frightening. What if they haven't forgotten and they come at me? That's why I don't wanna be alone right now.

Trent was standing with Vince. My father was with him too. Mother was with Aunt Vanessa. And Tracy, I'd be damned if I got any closer to her.

She's somewhere here though. Not sure where, but I'm not curious.

“Tell us, Elena. How does it feel like being mated to the second hottest man in the pack?”

Their question poked on my nerves but somehow, I still managed to keep a smile on my face.

“It feels nice. Please excuse me.” I left their circle, returning to our empty table. A table specially reserved for Trent and me.

I sat down, feeling every bit abandoned and lonely and heavily scared. Staring at Vince wasn't gonna help me feel any better but I couldn't help it.

His trimmed beads accentuated his sharp jawline. His thug aura has always been the best thing about him. And his gentle mix of calmness.

Why did he have to be so fine? And so twisted?!!

He wasn't even staring my way. Not even a glance. To him, I was definitely invisible. Again, that shouldn't bother me at all. But why's there an unexplainable knot in my heart?

The MC took the podium and ushered Vince up. He didn't go up alone. Instead, he grabbed Aunt Vanessa’s hand and she went up with him. She looked exceptionally radiant. No one man in his right senses would leave her for another.

Vince might be obsessed with me but it was temporary. If I give him what he wants, he'd definitely get over me. But he's never leaving her for me. I shouldn't be foolish enough to think there's a possibility for that.

But wait, why would I even imagine something like that? Elena, what's wrong with you?!

“Good evening, everyone.” He began, voice deep and velvety, giving me chills. “Thank you all for coming.”

Everyone clapped. He waited till they quieted before he continued.

“It feels good to be older. But feels better getting older with my loved ones around me. The pack members. My friends. Family. And my exceptionally beautiful mate, Vanessa.”

He smiled at her and she giggled. Everyone cheered again. But goddess, I was melting in my seat.

“She's been my rock and my center of existence. I love you, baby.” He pulled her in and kissed her on the lips.

Another mad cheering filled the hall. Vince held her hand as they got down.

I stood, pushing back my seat. If I stayed any longer, my tears would be obvious. I should race to the restroom.

Dabbing it with a handkerchief, I bumped right into a waitress. She had a tray of drinks and they spilled on me.

“Geez, I'm so sorry, Ma'am.” She frantically rubbed at my dress. It was a huge mistake; it worsened.

“Are you out of your mind?” I seethed, staring at the mess she made out of me.

“What?” She gawked at me. Like she hadn't expected me to sound so cold.

But how else should I sound with a shattering heart, confused mind, and ripped ego?

“Are you blind?” My wolf and my subconscious were all yelling at me not to create a scene. I shouldn't.

Walk away, just walk away, Elena. And that's what I did.

But at the door, I got blocked by a few of the press.

“Luna Elena. Are you really not guilty of the embezzlement? If so, then why didn't you let the authorities interrogate you?”

The first question popped and my legs were already trembling.

“Please, excuse me,” I mumbled, trying to walk past them. They blocked me. Eager to get an answer.

“If you keep avoiding interrogation, the people would think you're guilty and you could lose the love they got for you.”

Someone, please help me. I can't say anything. And they won't let me get past them either. Soon, everyone would have eyes on us. And I'll be part of another ugly scene.

Please.

“Did you embezzle the funds? What did you need it for?” Another one of them asked, fixing the microphone right to my mouth.

“I didn't…” Tears dropped, and my voice faltered. It was the worst situation. “Please, leave me alone.” I was literally begging them now. I can't afford to start a scene here. I can't bear the aftermath.

Trent. Father. Please help me.

The murmurings from behind had me reddened in shame. It seemed everyone's attention was on me. And the murmurings were my nightmare.

“Tell us, Luna Elena. Did you really embezzle the money, or was it someone else?”

I fought to breathe. Someone else? Was it safe to tell them Trent did?

Feeling totally terrified, I slowly glanced at Trent's direction. He was standing next to Vince and gawking at us. But not doing shit to come save me from them.

Tears trickled down my cheek as I realized there wasn't any possibility of getting saved by him. He looked just as terrified. More because he was the real culprit. Not me.

I didn't wanna do this, but I found my gaze going over to Vince, and more tears dropped from my eyes.

Please help me.
