Chapter 27
ANGEL SINCLAIR.
On Sunday morning, I wake up at 6 o'clock and prepare my breakfast. As I eat, I smile like a fool as I remember yesterday's moments. From the motorcycle ride to the part where Bryan and I had sex in my bed. Right after that, he left for his room. It would be too bold to sleep together, so I preferred that we each stayed in our own corner.
Speaking of him, Bryan must surely still be asleep. He usually sleeps late when he can do that. I finish eating and leave the house soon after. I'm already in proper running clothes and put on my headset, because since I'm going to run here through my gated neighborhood area, there's no danger at all. I have always run in the mornings. I prefer running outdoors to running on the treadmill in my home gym. It seems to work better outdoors.
I start running and my digital watch counts down the time. I stop when I am completely sweaty and tired, after an hour and five minutes of non-stop running. I rest my palms on my knees and breathe heavily.
"Yesterday's fried chicken earned me a lot," I think out loud, taking off my headset.
"Talking to yourself, Angel?" I hear a familiar male voice behind me.
I look back and see Liam McKay. He's the son of one of the well-known residents here, but he hasn't been around in a while. I notice that the months away from Seattle have done Liam good. He's looking more mature. In appearance, he's still white in the same way and his red hair is more moisturized than before.
"Liam, what a surprise," I say, smiling, "I've never seen you around here before," I say.
"Yeah, it's been a few months since I moved. I came this weekend to visit my parents and got out of the house for a bit to run", he says.
"Cool!" I say.
"Are you okay? I heard your dad got married," he comments and my glare fades.
"I'm fine. Actually, he and Madison are living together here at home, but they haven't officially gotten married yet", he nods, "And you? All good with business?".
"Fine. I guess you must have heard that I went to better manage my family's company," Liam says.
"Yes, I heard," I reply, "Success to you," I wish.
"Thank you", he smiles, "Are you still in high school?", Liam asks.
"Yes, senior year".
"Well, that means it's getting close to your long-awaited 18th birthday," he laughs.
"I thought you'd forgotten," I say.
"We ran every morning, at that time, and that's all you talked about. There was no way I could forget," we both laugh.
"It will be the day after my graduation, so I plan to celebrate together".
"Interesting! Good idea", he says.
"I'll go to your dad's house soon to deliver the invitation. I hope you'll come."
"If I'm available, you can be sure I will. In fact, I was going to invite you to dinner tonight, but look what a coincidence, I found you here", I laugh.
"That's great! I accept".
"Perfect. At the house at 8pm", he says.
"Okay, I'll be there. See you, Liam," I say, saying goodbye.
"See you, Angel," he replies.
I walk back to my house and am startled to see Bryan in the living room wearing a pair of sleep shorts. Doesn't he sleep late on Sundays? I didn't understand why he was awake now, being that it's no later than eight in the morning.
"Did you fall out of bed?" I ask as I close the door.
"I think I did. Maybe it was even a sign for me to see you chatting with the neighbor", he answers with a face of few friends.
"Can you see it from here?" he nods, his gaze fixed on me.
"From up there, yes. I've seen that fire hair around here before, I just didn't know he was close to you".
"He was, until Matthew distanced me from him," I sigh, "Liam doesn't even live here anymore, he's just visiting his parents."
"Liam? A deer's name," he laughs.
I roll my eyes and ignore Bryan's stupid comment. Liam really is a deer, but Bryan doesn't need to know that, because after all, it has nothing to do with his name, and Liam doesn't even look gay.
"The movie starts at 3pm. If you really want to go, be ready at 2pm," I say as I walk up the stairs, but Bryan doesn't respond at all.
I know he was jealous of me with Liam, because just the way he spoke to me gave it all away. I like to always have a card up my sleeve with people. Just knowing that Bryan gets bitten with jealousy when another man comes near me is a good start. He can eat out of my hand, all it takes is for me to get cute with someone else. I'll always take that into consideration when I want to tease him, since he likes to get into mischief sometimes.
I take a cold shower and then stop to pick out my clothes for today. I'll wear a pink outfit to the movies and a white dress for dinner at Liam's parents' house. They are good neighbors and I accepted the invitation because I like them. Not to mention that Bryan will probably go to the movies with me and we can't be together 24 hours a day. You have to give it some time. You have to take a break, especially now that Dad can come home at any time.
