Chapter 56 56

Chapter 56 56
Phoebe~~

I stayed at a corner until the ship came to a stop in the next two days. While we all came down, I saw how people moved about in different ways, while some looked stranded and kept glancing about.

When I sniffed, I only realised one thing, that we weren't in the human land. I had to approach someone whom I inhaled her wolf scent and asked her, “What pack is this?” She didn't look lost like the others and must have been here all by herself.

“This is the lycan territory,” she answered and walked away from me.

Lycan territory? How come we were sold off and brought here instead of the Human Land? I noticed that there were several confused people like me, so my wolf suggested that we begin leaving the arena instantly. ‘I think they will all be captured and taken to where they belong soon, so we must leave and pretend to know where we are,’ she said, and I grabbed my bag, crossed it to the side.

Most of them were humans, so I didn't need to stay with them. I took my right, just following some group of people without having a destination. I came to understand that not everyone on the ship was sold off, which made it easier to deal with.

When the people I trailed behind entered cabs and left, I was left alone in the street, but continued walking, as though I knew where I was headed. Soon, I began seeing lots of people, kiosks, huge shops, offices, and residential buildings.

It was my first time coming into the lycan territory, so their energy was stronger than mine, who was a werewolf.

While I walked slowly, I darted my eyes around, hoping to see a signpost that had to do with realtors, so I could first get a house to stay in, then I would begin searching for a job. But after several hours of walking consistently without taking a break, I found none, and my legs were already hurting.

I reached out to the nearest eatery that I saw and purchased a cheap meal, which I gobbled there just to regain my strength to continue the journey. I intended to sleep on the street if I did not see a house or lodge that I would pay for the night.

But seriously, lodging would cost a lot, so I hoped to find a house agent before the day ended.

I was about to empty the bottle of water that I was sipping while on my journey, when someone approached me, looking unkept. She pointed at the bottle I held and began pleading to have a taste as she was losing energy.

Out of pity, I stretched my arm, expecting her to grab the bottle, but she snatched my bag from me and took to her heels.

At first, it was like a dramatic scene. How was she so cunning even in her situation?

The bottle dropped on the floor, as my breath caught in my throat. In that bag, I had lots of money, so I couldn't lose it that way. To even say that people were around and didn't care what was happening made it more difficult to process, so I had to make a very hard decision.

I transformed into my wolf form instantly and went after the lady, although she was out of my view. She was a lycan omega, so I could find her with her scent.

That moment was the worst for me, because I had to spend almost thirty minutes searching for someone, whereas I had a target by the end of the day. I knew she was stronger than I was, but if I could find her and take at least the money, then it would be okay.

Soon, I entered the balcony of an abandoned building, hoping to take a break there, only to see her pouring out everything in my bag. My wolf snarled, drawing her attention, and with how scared she looked, I doubted she could even transform.

I lunged towards her in my wolf form, tearing her flesh and pushing her away from where my properties were.

She slammed her butt on the floor and sprained her ankle, but I didn't care. I dashed towards her again and dug my claw into her flesh, leaving a deep cut and bleeding, before I was able to transform back to my human form.

There, she tried to stop the bleeding, and I had no atom of pity for her. I reached into my bag and packed up my belongings. Luckily, everything, including my money, was still complete.

“If you needed money, what happened to asking for some? You wanted to take everything out of greed, and I don't stand that shit.” I growled at her before crossing my bag between my chest. “Have a nice day if it's possible.”

I scoffed and was leaving when I heard her voice from behind, “Please don't report me.” I paused midway. I shouldn't report her? Could robbery be a huge crime here? If that's it, then it could be why people pretended not to see her, because they expected me to report her.

Slowly, I turned back to the lady and nodded. She must have sensed that I was a werewolf and underestimated me to come for her. Unfortunately, I wasn't too weak to do that.

But for goddess sake, I didn't need to miss that opportunity, so I walked back to her and squatted. I looked her in the eyes and asked, “What will you give me not to report you?”

She dragged her butt backwards, and I came closer again.

“Find me a job, or I'm going straight to the palace.”

She shook her head; her lips trembled. Who would believe that a werewolf threatened a lycan? I loved that expression she wore.

“I don't know any job, but there are several vacancies on the street,” she stated, her voice low and teary. “If you meet with certain clubs, hotels, supermarts, malls, boutiques, resorts, they would employ you without certifications. But for the rest, you would need to achieve a certain level in education.”

Smiles stretched my lips apart, and I nodded, then stood up. “So, which street exactly? I can't recall seeing any job vacancy posts around here.”

“Take a cab into the main town. This isn't one.”

I nodded, finally understanding why those people entered cabs. If I had known, I would have just done the same or asked questions. That could be the reason I hadn't seen any agency offices around, so I wondered how they found residences around here to stay in.

“Then, have a nice day and stay away from being attacked,” I said to her and gave her a thumbs up. Still, I couldn't stand it, but I gave her some money to feed her, then I left.

When I reached the major road, I waited for a cab, and when I saw one, I explained where I was heading and even my aim, to know if I would get some help.

“Well, if you have a sense of fashion, I know a place where you could be learning and working at the same time. They pay you, but not as a staff, yet manageable. And when you become good in the craft and choose to be employed, you are still given the opportunity if you pass the test,” the driver explained, and I thought it was indeed a good idea.

Although I hadn't ever thought of going into fashion, as it stood, I needed something to offer, so the job description would do me so much better than just working as a sales attendant or cleaner.

The man dropped me and pointed at the second floor of the building where we parked before. “If I'm not mistaken, they also offer accommodation and feeding, so it's a good choice for someone without a helper.”

That last word from him made me knit my brow. How did he know I didn't have a helper? Maybe I looked so tattered and like a wanderer, which was why that idiotic human sold me off as a slave.

By that time, those people should be taken away from the border, and I just pity them and what they would be used for.

When they say humans were cruel, this was what they meant.

I sighed and bowed to the driver, “Thanks so much. I will take my leave from here.”

He wished me well, and then I made my way to the second floor, where the fashion empire was. I was given a form which I filled out, then had to wait before my attention was needed.

According to the lady who attended to me, “If you're called in, then you're accepted. Otherwise, your application was rejected.”

I nodded, while deep down, I prayed to the moon goddess to grant this only wish of mine.

They offered accommodation and feeding based on the form I filled out, so I would be able to save my salary and live a comfortable life after training.
