Chapter 28 28

Chapter 28 28
Phoebe~~

I was set to escape from the room when he sneezed once, and then twice. I sat up, put up a smile, and stared at him until he opened his eyes and met my gaze. I stretched my hand towards his chest and began running my fingers on the hairs there. “Did you sleep well?”

He nodded and placed his palm on mine, “It was such a night that's unforgettable. I hadn't ever been satisfied like this for once. You're indeed a genius in this club.” he chuckled and blew a kiss for me.

Heaven knew how irritating it was, but I tried to comport myself until I was done with him.

“Our deal is about to end, so you have to pay up the extra money that I mentioned. That's what it means to stay with you all night.”

“It's worth it!” he complimented and sat up.

I climbed down from the bed and reached the sofa where I had kept my hair bound.

When he had dressed up, he handed me a bundle of cash, wearing a satisfied smile. “I hope it will be enough for you.”

“Maybe you should keep the remaining until next time when we meet. Isn't that okay?” I winked at him and took the cash he was giving. “I hope we get to meet next time.”

I didn't stay long after that moment, and then I left the room. As I bumped out of the room, I stumbled on a lady, covered in a veil, staring at me like we had a business to take care of. I glanced at the sides, and when I saw no one else except me, I couldn't stand it but approached her. “Hello, is there anything you wanna say?”

She shook her head.

I was expecting her to talk about the extra cash I had taken from the client, or maybe that I stayed with a client all through the night. But when she didn't say anything to me, I began leaving, and she didn't follow me.

Was she okay? Did she suspect me or something? There was no way she could be a spy, right?

As I left the club building, I saw the car that had brought me and knocked on the glass door to wake the sleeping Levi. He quickly unlocked the doors the moment he must have opened his eyes, then I stepped in.

I counted the money I had gotten from the client, smiling sheepishly that I didn't realise that Levi was staring at me through the rearview. I brought out the portion I would give Angeline to show how grateful I was to have the drug, and then the ones I would give both the slave mistress and the warriors in charge of my pack members.

It was such a huge amount of money, and I wished to get it at least three times a week. That way, I'd be able to save up a lot that would sustain me.

“Set to leave?” Levi drew my attention, and I shuddered. Hadn't he been driving?

I met his eyes through the rearview and exhaled, “Yeah, beta!”

We arrived in the next few minutes in the palace, and before I alighted, Levi handed me a sheet of paper.

“It contains everything about my alpha as you asked. I took my time listing them down when you entered the club,” he elaborated, and I nodded, flipping through the papers. "But, did you really sleep with a client?”

My eyes snapped open. Was that question for me? Didn't they say I would be a whore and make money for their alpha?

When he read my facial expression, he cleared his throat and added, “I didn't mean to piss you off, but I didn't expect you here willingly. Alpha didn't mention taking you to the club, so I was shocked when you told me about it. And you stayed there all night and didn't escape again, so….

“So what?” I cut him short and dropped the paper on the seat. “Is it also an offense to follow an order?”

“That's not what I meant.” he finally turned to look at my face. “Alpha Knox would get hurt if he shared you with another man. He is too jealous but can't admit it.”

I gestured, “And why should I care? If he thinks I shouldn't be here, then telling me not to would serve right. He made me a whore, and I think I love it now…especially the extra money that I'm getting to take care of myself. Do you need some cash?”

He scoffed and shook his head.

I really understand where he was heading, maybe trying to confuse me into believing that his alpha still has a soft spot for me. One thing was that I wouldn't beg to be loved, and I do not want that love from him. I would rather poison myself to death than give him a space in my heart.

My aim? To make him fall for me so he would face his end, and I would get the revenge I want. Make money with the drug Angeline had shared with me and take care of myself and my people. Aside from that, I need nothing else to bother me. Matebond or not, Knox was like a living dead to me.

I walked straight to my room first, and after freshening up, went down to the slave yard where I met with Angeline and the slave mistress who had successfully been healed. Even when they refused to take the money that I offered, I forced it into their hands.

The slave mistress led me to the warriors that had my people under their care, and I gave them what I had too.

“Next time, I would love to cook for my people as we planned. Will that still be possible?” I asked the slave mistress, and she nodded. Her smiles were everything. “You have my back, anytime,” she assured me with a pat on the shoulder.

I felt so light after having to share my wins with all these people, so I happily returned to the palace building, hoping to go take a deep sleep in my room while getting ready for tonight. I thought there was no need to meet Vivienne or whatever her name was, since I already told Levi to assign more servants to her so she wouldn't rely on me.

While I was climbing the stairs, looking down at the floor and contemplating everything that had happened so far, I didn't realise someone was coming before me. Before I could think, the person raised my face, and the next was a loud slap that made stars leave my eyes.

My face was drained of blood. I froze at that spot, staring back at the lady standing before me.

“You must think I am a fool for you to leave since last night and not check in. Do you even know what it means to be a servant?” she yelled in my face. My lips dropped open in shock.

For goddess' sake, how am I supposed to know what it meant to be a servant when I had never been one? And did my fellow woman, a beta for that matter, just raise her filthy hand on me?

What a motherfucker!

I stepped back a bit, staring back at her.

“Want to slap me back? Do that and see where you're gonna end up….” she snarled and scoffed.

I couldn't stand it, so I climbed the next step before me. Upon raising my hand, my heart racing in anger, I heard a masculine voice from behind…

“What is going on here?”

My hand hung in the air, and I slowly turned to meet Knox standing on the floor with his two hands in his pockets.
