Chapter 114 Grandpa fainted

Chapter 114 Grandpa fainted
Maverick left hurriedly.

She wondered if everything was okay, but he had promised to call her.

It didn’t take her long to freshen up. Thankfully, she had learned to drive Fabian had made sure of that, calling it a life hack.

Speaking of Fabian, she wondered if he was still angry.

She stood outside Liam’s school, waiting for dismissal so she could pick him up. He was going to be surprised; he didn’t know she was coming.

Liam was waiting for the final bell to ring so he could go home to his mama.

The moment the bell rang, he rushed to the waiting room.

“Liam Johnson.”

His name was called meaning his guardian was here.

He stepped out.

And there she was.

His mama, leaning against a car.

“Mama!!”

He ran to her. She steadied herself before lifting him.

“Mama, I missed you,” he said.

“I missed you too, munchkin.”

Heaven realized it was the first time she hadn’t put him to sleep. It made sense he felt a little detached. It wasn’t a feeling he showed since he acted all matured for his age but he was still her baby.

She kissed his face repeatedly, smoothing his hair.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you to get anything you want today.”

She turned toward the car.

Liam stopped short, eyes widening.

“Mama… whose car is this?”

Heaven scratched her head. How would she explain this?

“It’s a gift. I plan to return it. I just needed it for today…”

Liam frowned.

“Mama, I don’t think we are giving it back once I enter it. We need it. You can’t keep rejecting gifts. I don’t like the smell of taxis.”

She sighed.

Eva had a lot of free time that day, so she decided to go with the chauffeur to pick Havilah up.

“Mummy, now that you are here, we should go see my friend Liam,” Avi’s small voice chimed.

“Oh?” Eva smiled. “I would love to meet the person who got your attention away from your phone.”

She truly loved the changes she had seen in Avi all thanks to her new friend.

Avi had since spotted Liam standing with a woman through the waiting doors.

And recognized instantly.

That must be his mama the one he always talked about.

They had the same eyes.

“Mummy, they are over there,” she said, pointing.

Eva followed her gaze, smiling. She waved at the teachers as they greeted her. Her blonde hair was loose, styled in soft waves, her appearance polished effortlessly, nothing like the beast she was inside.

Heaven had her back turned while speaking to her son.

Liam noticed Havilah approaching with a woman who looked like her.

He knew this was the introduction moment.

Heaven noticed Liam wasn’t looking at her. She turned, following his gaze—

Just as Eva’s phone pinged.

She glanced at the screen.

Her eyes widened.

She immediately turned her daughter around.

“Avi, we’ll see your friend later. We have to go home. Grandpa is sick. He fainted.”

Heaven only caught the retreating backs of the little girl and the blonde woman.

She opened the car door for Liam.

“Is she your friend?” she asked gently.

He shrugged.

But deep down, he wondered why she turned away.

“Where do you want to go, baby?” Heaven asked Liam as she drove out of the school.

He tilted his head to the side and thought for a long moment.

“Let’s go have a meal, Mama.”

“Okay.” She paused. “I forgot to call Rayan so he doesn’t have to bother picking you up.” She reached for her phone.

“Uncle Fabian dropped me off,” Liam said distractedly, staring at his phone as he contemplated whether to send a message to Avi.

“He did?” Heaven asked, surprised.

Liam nodded.

Heaven took him to Ramona Restaurant. Liam ordered jollof pasta and roasted turkey, while Heaven chose a cup of latte. She had eaten quite a lot on the island Maverick had made sure of that.

She wanted to tell Liam about Maverick and their relationship. She watched him quietly, wiping his mouth now and then. Liam didn’t mind the attention.

“Liam,” she called softly.

“Yes?”

“I don’t plan on searching for your birth father anymore,” she said, pausing as she waited for his reaction.

He looked up from his food.

“Mama, I never asked you to look for him. I don’t mind, as long as I’m with you,” he replied, then continued eating.

Heaven’s heart felt full.

She had always wanted to give Liam a complete family or at least roots. Every child deserved that.

She cleared her throat before continuing.

“Liam, I have… um… a boyfriend.”

“The man opposite?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Mama, are you happy?” Liam studied her face. The seven-year-old wanted only one thing, his mother’s peace.

Heaven smiled and nodded, suddenly shy. She didn't want her past anymore she would make memories her body would never want to forget.

“You can date him. I like him,” Liam said simply.

Heaven let out a slow breath. It hadn’t taken much after all. She had been so afraid and now she wondered why.

She watched her son finish his meal and helped cut the chicken into smaller pieces. When he was done, it was time to leave.

⸻

Summer sat in a restaurant on the ground floor. Most customers preferred going upstairs, and no one would expect a celebrity to be in a modest place like this.

She wore a black hoodie and dark glasses in disguise, desperate for peace anywhere far from her abusive husband and the public that demanded constant smiles and perfection. She was dying slowly and needed either a break… or help.

She took a sip from her cup when she saw her through the transparent wall, her sister and a little boy walking toward a white car.

Shock hit her hard as she removed her glasses to be sure. She stood abruptly and went after her.
