Chapter 315 The Fate of the Pena Family
Finnegan already knew most of what happened last night.
Of course he also knew what kind of person Saul was.
Getting arrested—wasn't that exactly what he deserved?
And the Penas had the nerve to show up at their door?
What, did they expect Andrew to let that menace go free?
Finnegan was furious, and his tone couldn't have been more disdainful.
The butler explained, "I already tried to persuade them to leave, but they refused no matter what."
At this point, Andrew had already put away his phone and said calmly, "Then let them in. I'd like to hear what they have to say."
He was fine staying quiet, but once he spoke, Finnegan's anger turned on him. "What's there to listen to? Why won't you listen to what I'm saying?"
Andrew said calmly, "Grandpa, I heard what you said."
Finnegan glared at him fiercely and said, "What did you hear? You won't even let me finish talking!"
His anger was clearly substantial.
Seeing that Finnegan was about to really blow up, the butler, with impeccable timing, quickly went to bring the visitors in.
The butler had his own agenda.
Finnegan's anger shouldn't be directed at Andrew—let the Penas take it instead.
So when the Penas entered, they were met with Finnegan's sour face and fury.
"Mr. Pena, what brings you here so early in the morning? Need something?"
The Penas made this trip hoping to plead with Finnegan on their son's behalf.
But upon entering and seeing Finnegan's expression, both of them felt their hearts sink.
Their eyes glanced to the side, landing on Andrew, who sat composed and aloof like an untouchable flower on a high peak, and they felt even less confident.
Still, no matter how scared they were, they had to do what they came to do.
Violette nudged Noah with her elbow, urging him to speak up quickly.
Noah could only steel himself and step forward, placing gifts on the table. He said apologetically, "Mr. Finnegan Hamilton, we're truly sorry to disturb you and Mr. Andrew Hamilton so early in the morning. It's just that my youngest son offended Mr. Andrew Hamilton at the banquet last night without thinking. I can't just ignore it. So we came here specifically to apologize to you both today."
Finnegan had just been holding in his anger with nowhere to vent it, so hearing that Noah had indeed come about this matter, his tone was far from polite.
He said, "What? You want to plead for your son? Want Andrew to let him off and drop the charges? The Pena family may have risen to wealth later than others, but now you're considered a respectable family in Harmony City. As the head of the family, not only did you fail to properly educate your son, you also let him run wild, doing those heartless and unconscionable things in private. Bullying men and women, even involving minors. Now that his evil deeds have been exposed, whatever happens to him is what he deserves. Instead of reflecting on yourselves at this time, you want to clear him of his crimes? It seems Saul isn't the only crooked one—does the Pena family not want a future anymore?"
Finnegan's words carried obvious disgust.
Noah heard it too, and his heart jumped in alarm.
They had come today with two objectives.
One was, of course, to plead for Saul.
The other was that the Pena family's stock had been turbulent this morning, with their market value dropping by an alarming amount.
He hoped to clear things up for the Pena family and get Andrew to stop targeting them.
The reason he came to the Hamilton Mansion was because he'd done his research.
The engagement between Andrew and the Kingsley family had been arranged by Finnegan himself.
After Andrew rejected the marriage, word was that Finnegan was very angry about it.
Last night, Andrew had made a big fuss over a divorced woman with a bad reputation.
Noah figured that when Finnegan found out, he definitely wouldn't let it go easily.
That was exactly why Noah thought coming here would give him better room to maneuver.
But now, with Finnegan's words, Noah's heart went cold.
He realized his first objective was probably impossible to achieve.
Noah broke out in a cold sweat, wiping his forehead. "You're right, I failed to educate my son properly. Whatever punishment that boy receives, he deserves it—it's his own fault. We came here today mainly to apologize for his reckless behavior last night. After all, he offended Mr. Andrew Hamilton's girlfriend and said so many awful things publicly. He really deserves to be taught a lesson. We hope Mr. Andrew Hamilton, seeing that he's already been punished, can let it go."
Andrew narrowed his eyes, his cold gaze sweeping over Noah.
Noah's attitude seemed very humble, looking genuinely apologetic and remorseful.
If he hadn't mentioned "girlfriend," Andrew might have actually believed him.
His expression immediately grew colder.
By now, everyone in Harmony City's upper circles should know that his grandfather didn't like Olivia.
For Noah to bring it up at this moment—in Andrew's view, this apology wasn't sincere at all.
Finnegan had lived long enough to have seen every trick in the book. How could he not understand Noah's meaning?
Did Noah really think he would use this to make things difficult for Andrew?
Simply put, Andrew's romantic affairs and what his son had done were completely different matters.
Saul's actions showed moral depravity, corrupt character—he'd broken the law, violated principles and basic human decency. He didn't deserve to be called human!
Finnegan snorted disdainfully, looked at Andrew, and asked, "How do you plan to handle this?"
Andrew casually picked up his teacup, took a sip of tea, and didn't bother responding directly. He simply called out behind him, "David."
David immediately understood and stepped forward to speak for Andrew. "Mr. Pena, your apology doesn't seem very sincere. Mr. Hamilton doesn't accept it. Leave now with your gifts, and the Pena family might have it a bit easier. Otherwise, we can't predict what will happen to the Pena family next. Please leave!"
Hearing this, Noah's face immediately changed.
Behind him, Violette also turned pale.
The Hamilton grandfather and grandson were rejecting their request.
Noah never expected this trip would end with him being completely rebuffed. He was so angry his mouth twisted.
Normally, wherever he went, people showed him respect. When had he ever been treated like this?
But these two people before him had real power and status.
They were forces the Pena family couldn't compete with.
So he could only be angry without daring to show it. "Alright, alright, in that case, we won't disturb you any longer."
After saying this, Noah and his wife picked up their things from the table and left the Hamilton Mansion in disgrace.
After they left, the living room became quiet again.
Finnegan stopped pretending and said disdainfully, "That Pena family really are nouveau riche who came up halfway. They're so tacky. If you ask me, the Pena family is bound to fail sooner or later!"
Andrew completely agreed with Finnegan's assessment.
Just from how they spoiled Saul and let him break the law, you could tell these two people were probably arrogant and overbearing in their daily lives.
In Harmony City, plenty of people probably couldn't stand them already.
Finnegan continued, "We don't even need to wait for later. With this incident, everyone outside is criticizing the Pena Group. Those who were already at odds with the Pena family will definitely kick them while they're down."
After listening to Finnegan, Andrew didn't forget to agree and praise him. "Grandpa, you're absolutely right. Since the matter is resolved, I should head to the office. I have several urgent meetings this morning, and if I don't leave now, I'll be late."
Seeing how obedient he was, Finnegan waved his hand and said, "Go on then."
Andrew stood up, casually adjusted his suit cuffs, then left the Hamilton Mansion with David at a leisurely pace.
Finnegan also got up, preparing to go to the courtyard to play with his birds.
Just as he stood up, he realized something was wrong.
When was the matter resolved?
His issue still hadn't been resolved!
This brat had tricked him!
"Andrew, get back here!" A roar suddenly echoed through the mansion.
However, the sound of a car engine could already be heard outside.
David floored the gas pedal, driving away at full speed, afraid Finnegan would chase them out.
The butler suppressed a smile and calmly reminded Finnegan, "Mr. Andrew Hamilton has already left."
Finnegan was so angry his chest hurt, and he banged his cane on the floor. "That little brat, pulling this trick again!"
Watching this scene, the butler's expression showed a hint of nostalgia.
Back when Andrew wanted to join the special forces, Finnegan had refused no matter what, afraid his only precious grandson would lose his life.
Andrew had fooled him the same way back then, and just ran off.
Who would have thought that many years later, they'd see this scene again.
Finnegan obviously thought of this too, feeling both angry and amused. He picked up his phone and messaged Andrew: [You come home tonight. I need to have a proper talk with you!]
Andrew saw it and sent him his schedule.
Andrew was very busy, with work scheduled until late.
After reading it, Finnegan's words of complaint got stuck in his throat.
Andrew was working so hard. He couldn't bear to trouble him anymore.
Andrew wasn't just making him angry—old people are like children and need to be coaxed.
He patiently coaxed him with a few words, saying once he finished this busy period, he'd come back to have dinner with him.
Finnegan didn't reply, so Andrew knew he'd gotten past this hurdle.
He put away his phone and instructed David, who was driving, "Later, help me prepare some gifts to send to my grandfather and his old friends. Remember, send the special medicine and health products from Olivia's research institute."
He needed to let Finnegan know as soon as possible how good and excellent Olivia was.
David understood Andrew's meaning and immediately replied, "Okay, I got it."
