Chapter 34
“We should book a holiday,” Lee suggested out of the blue and I felt my heart skip a beat with excitement.
“Where would we go?” I asked.
“Anywhere we wanted.” Lee shrugged. “France, Spain, Italy. You name it.”
“I could definitely do with one, and I imagine you could too, Ree,” Dale pointed out. “After everything we’ve put your body through the last couple of years.”
“It really wasn’t that bad.” I shook my head and tried not to think of all the injections and tests, not to mention the raging hormones those things had caused.
“That’s it.” Lee grabbed his phone from his pocket. “I’m booking us a holiday.”
“I can’t just up and go!” I exclaimed. “I have work.”
“You let me worry about that.” Lee gave me a quick squeeze with the arm that was still wrapped around me. “You deserve some time off and a little de-stressing.”
“Make sure to book somewhere with a spa then,” Dale suggested. I had to admit I liked the sound of that. I wasn’t usually a fan of overly girly treatments but a deep tissue massage would have been great right now.
“There’s great deals in Bora Bora and Mexico,” Lee suggested scrolling through his phone.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Bora Bora.” Dale’s face filled with hope.
“Isn’t that majorly expensive though?” I pointed out.
“Don’t worry about that.” Dale responded with a handsome, easy going smile. “We’ve got it covered.”
“I couldn’t ask you to do that.” I shook my head so quickly that it made me dizzy. A slight nausea had begun in the pit of my stomach. I wasn’t sure whether it was talk of money, lack of food, or too much alcohol. I reached for another cracker.
“You didn’t,” Lee reminded me. “We offered.”
“I could never accept that,” I insisted. “You know I like to pay my own way.”
“Those rules don’t apply in a relationship.” Dale came to sit down on the other side of me. “What’s ours is yours and besides, we couldn’t very well take a trip without you.”
“Dale is right.” Lee nodded in agreement with his husband. “It just wouldn’t be the same without you.”
“What about Kate? I can’t leave her on her own just like that,” I protested, trying to think of any way to stop them from spending so much money on me. I instantly regretted mentioning her when I realized it had backfired.
“If it means that much to you, she can come, too.” Lee smirked and Dale nodded his own agreement. “The more the merrier.”
“What about Marilyn Monroe?” I protested. I could imagine that the old, lazy tabby was still curled up on my bed totally oblivious to the fact we were home.
“I don’t think she’d like Bora Bora.” Lee chuckled.
“My mum will have her,” Dale interjected. “She adores cats and she lost hers a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure she’d be glad of the company.”
My boys had an answer for absolutely everything.
“It’s settled then.” Lee squeezed me again. “Bora Bora it is.”
“You guys make my head hurt.” I rubbed at my temples. “I think I need to go to bed.”
“Want some company?” Dale wiggled an eyebrow at me. The same heat that had shot between my thighs in the club suddenly returned. I could never say no to him. Especially when he had that look on his face.
“I wouldn’t say no,” I responded even as I slipped out from under Lee’s arm and placed my now empty wine glass on the coffee table. 18
“What’s this?” Dale asked when we entered the bedroom. He picked the bag up off the bed and I suddenly remembered that I’d forgotten to put away the rest of my things from my shopping trip with Kate.
“I’m not even sure how to answer that.” I placed my hand over my mouth to hide my amusement.
Dale peeled open the bag and looked inside. When his face appeared from it again his expression was a picture of mixed excitement and surprise.
“What is it?” Lee asked when he saw the face his husband was pulling.
“It’s a strap-on!” Dale exclaimed excitedly. “Looks like Ree-Ree listens to us after all.”
“I always listen to you!” I responded defensively.
“Now I get the outfit!” Lee seemed to have had a Eureka moment. “It’s all sexy strap-on goddess!”
“You still haven’t seen what’s underneath.” I wiggled my hips. Suddenly all the stress of the evening was gone. My attention was turned to much more exciting prospects.
