Chapter 5

Agnes brought out a bottle of whiskey and two glass cups. She had already changed into a much more simple dress.

A plain grey silky dress, which made her look trim and neat.

Ethan consciously became aware of her long beautiful legs, as she stepped towards him.

She placed the cups on a round table, then she poured out the whiskey into the two glass cups and handed one to him.

"So tell me about your family, you have never mentioned anything about them to me before," Ethan said, trying to start up a conversation, to ease the thoughts he was thinking in his head.

He needed something that could divert his attention from her almost exposed skin and slender beautiful legs.

On the other side, Agnes's face turned sad after hearing his question. Ethan looked at her face and noticed the sudden change.

"You do not have to tell me, if it brings back bad memories to you," he said to her in a soft tone, after he had noticed the sad look on her face.

Agnes smiled at him, then she slightly opened her mouth and said, "I was abandon at the orphanage when I was a baby," she answered. Ethan stood up and walked to where she was, he sat down beside her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm so sorry," he said to her, feeling a sudden kinship and patting her back.

"There is no need to say that to me, besides I am doing very well without them." She replied boldly to him.

"What about your own family?" She added.

Ethan wanted to leave her question unanswered but he knew it would be unfair, since she also shared her past experience with him.

"My mom is dead, you don't have to feel pity for me because I am very glad she died. The only family I have left is my dad," he said with an angry expression clearly written all over his face.

"Did you just say you are glad about your mom's death?" She asked in awe, shauning the angry look on his face.

"I do not want to talk about her any further," he replied to her, sipping his drink.

"What about your relatives, I mean your uncle, aunt, cousins, nephews.." she left her other words to trail away. "Don't you have any?"

"My mother was an only child of her parents, so I do not have any relatives from her side while my dad has a younger brother, whom I detest so much and he has a son who is almost the same age as I am," he explained.

"Wow, it would be a pleasure to meet your family one day," she said smiling to him.

What she said angered Ethan but he didn't make his anger obvious to her, "you will definitely meet my dad but as for the others, it is a no," Ethan stated to her in a clear tone, his voice Rose in anger.

"Why?" Agnes, the curious cat asked, staring at him with confused set of eyes.

"Because I hate them as much as I hate my mom. This discussion is making me feel sick, I guess it is time to take my leave," he said to her and stood up to leave in a fit of rage.

Agnes was mixed with different feelings at that point but one thing she knew was that she couldn't let him leave like that, she could not let him drive in such an angry condition.

"Please do not leave, I'm sorry if I angered you with my unnecessary and stupid questions." She pleaded with him, holding his hands in order to stop him from leaving.

When Ethan heard her plea, he realized he had over reacted. He turned to her and raised her chin up, so that they could look at each other face to face.

"Forgive me Agnes, I did not mean to pass out my anger and frustration on you." He apologetically said to her.

This little action he took triggered something between the both of them, a feeling of longing and desire. The both of them stared at each other with strong desire. At that moment they both wanted each other passionately.

"Agnes?" He called out her name, his voice hoarse and unsteady. He could not understand why he wanted her so badly, more bad than he had ever wanted a woman.

At the mention of her name, Whitney's blood hammered in her throat.

"Ethan I think it is time for you to go, it is getting late" she said but the look in her eyes told a different thing altogether. She looked at him with an urgent, naked, desire.

Those look in her eyes, Ethan could clearly see through them. Now he was very sure that he was not the only person that had this sexual feeling, she also felt the same way too and this made him feel victorious. His plans could easily have effect on her, if she already had this kinds of feelings for him.

"Are you sure you want me to go?" He asked her, making it sound more like a joke even though his words were serious. Agnes's face was as expressionless as ever. Inwardly she was battling the voice in her head that was telling her to stop him from going.

Ethan noticed the blank look on her face.

"Hey, I was just joking," he spoke to her in a flat tone. He held her close to him and whispered, "I value you so much and I would never take advantage of you, always remember this."

She looked up to his face and smiled, "I know. It is already late, you have to get going now." She told him, wanting to be released from his touch, which was setting her on fire.

"Alright I will leave but on one condition." He playfully said to her.

"What condition?" She asked him, attentively giving him all of her attention.

"The condition is that tomorrow you will have to come along with me for a very long drive, after which we will have a picnic," Ethan said to her in a heartened tone. "I want to spend more time with you, so be ready, I will come in time and if possible as early as 7 am," he said to her, not giving her a chance to decline, then he placed a light kiss on her fore head.

"Thanks a lot Ethan," she said with a huge smile on her face.

"Thanks for what? I did not do any thing special or did I?" Ethan asked, staring flirtatiously at her.

Agnes's expression suddenly changed into a mixture of both pain and guilt. "I can't help but feel as though I am taking advantage of you." She said to him in a childish manner.

"I have had so many rumors about me taking advantage of you in my workplace and I feel that those rumors are all true. The fact that you bought me a position in that bar made everyone think low of me. You should not have bought that position for me, not everything can be bought with money. I unfairly received the position of a CEO which I did not earn the right way." She explained to him.

"Shuu," Ethan said to her.

"They are all jealous of you and they all wish to be in your position believe me."

"Do not spoil the night, as long as I am with you, what Other people say should never matter to you. Even if they all hate you, at least you have me by your side, I will always stand by you. You are Precious to me, understood?"

She nodded to his gentle words. Her brown eyes stared at him with nothing but trust and fate. She nodded at him and raised her head to him, "what about your image? Would it not be tarnished, imagine a rich and Handsome billionaire like you mingling with a nobody like me." Ethan frowned at her words, "who said you were a nobody?" He asked raising her chin to him. "Agnes no matter what anyone says, it's my life and I get to make the rules, understand?."

Agnes nodded and smiled at him.

"Ethan it is getting late, you had better go home. I will see you tomorrow."

"I would have preferred sleeping at your doorstep, at least I would be sure you weren't too far from me but I will go home, just for you, only for your sake," Ethan said in a convincing tone.

"I would never even think of letting you sleep at my doorstep, so you had better stop with your sweet talks and go back home."

"Just go home, I do not want you to say any more silly things, goodbye," she said, then raised up her toes and gave him a friendly hug.

"Ok. Take care and remember to dream of me," he said and turned, leaving. He started walking towards the exit. She stared at him as he walked away. Ethan suddenly stopped there and turned to her, "are you sure you want me to go, I could stay back and you could stare long at me as much as you want, just say the word," he said walking back to her.

"Ethan please just go home and stop kidding around," she said smiling at him. "Just go, I have our memories with me, I will think of you all through the night," she added.

"Okay okay. Goodnight," he said and turned. This time around he didn't come up with any mischief, he walked out of the house at once. Agnes locked the door as quick as she could and leaned in it. Truth be told, she was fighting herself from telling him to spend the night in her place. Ethan did not just gain her trust, he also gained her heart and very soon she would accept the reality. She had never planned on falling in love or having any form of attraction towards him but here she was continuously thinking about him.

When he left her house, she realized how boring everywhere was. She felt lonely without him by her side. She went to her room, took her bath and went straight to bed. "Tomorrow will be much better than today I guess," she said to herself in a slight tone. Afterwards she drifted to sleep..

The next day...

There was a knock on Agnes's door. She rushed to the door and opened, she knew it was none other but Ethan.

"Ethan you came earlier than expected, have you eaten any thing this morning?"

"See who is making a lot of noise, I came much earlier but you are already dressed up. You look so beautiful by the way," he praised her looks frantically.

Agnes put on a short flair gown, her hair was packed into a bun shape. She also put on a long cowboy boots. As for Ethan, he wore a red polo and a jean pair of trousers, with a canvas and a face cap. "Thanks," she replied, smiling widely at him.

"Should I prepare something for us to eat, it will not take much time," she added, looking at him with those beautiful brown eyes of hers.

"Ok do as you wish, I do not mind at all," he said in a quiet tone.

"So should I come inside or stand outside here and wait for you to finish preparing the meal," his words sounded as though he were serious but the expression he had on his signified a different thing altogether.

"I am sorry, forgive my manners. Come in and take a seat. I will quickly prepare breakfast for the both of us," she said to him.

After some minutes, she came back to the sitting room with a tray. Inside the tray contained two cups of coffee, bacon, eggs and kebab.

She served Ethan his own share. He took a sip of coffee, then he cleared his throat, "wow Agnes, the taste of your coffee gets sweeter each day. I have never tasted any coffee as sweet as yours since I was born. I love it," he praised her. Agnes did not say anything to him, she only blushed out of shyness I guess. He took a handful of bacon and shoved them into his mouth. "Why are you staring at me in such a way, eat something," he forced out his words in a mouthful.

"I have eaten already, I have eaten enough, I do not want to ruin my weight, so do not worry about me. Besides you look more hungry than I had even expected."

Ethan coughed out. "Yuck!"

"What is the problem," Agnes asked, almost in a panic.

"It is nothing, just that you put a lot of something inside it and I do not think I deserve it. I don't..

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put a lot of spice in it. Please do not be angry," Agnes said, interrupting whatever words he had wanted to say.

Ethan started laughing.

"What is wrong with you and why are you laughing at me?" She asked him, folding her hands.

"You are so funny Agnes, I was not coughing because the food was spicy . The only thing I was trying to say was thank you. Thank you Whitney for taking your time in preparing the meal and secondly thank you for the fact that you put in a lot of love while making this breakfast like we were dating each other, so I needed to thank you.

Whitney tapped him in the head, "did you have to play such expensive prank on me? And besides I wonder why you are over thanking me, it is very unnecessary you know, so please you better stop it."

"You are more special to me than even a boyfriend," she added.

"I am so lucky to have met a man like you and I should be the person saying thank you and not the other way around." She continued to praise him.

"I am equally grateful that I met you in my life," he complimented back.

"You should be lucky this Ethan is in front of you, I have rejected other beautiful girls ever since you came into my life. And no girl has ever made feel the way you make me feel. I am sincerely more than lucky to have you in my life."

He knelt down in front of her and said to her, "be my girlfriend Agnes, accept me as your man.... I promise to always stand by you and you will never regret it." He pulled out a box that was wrapped.

Agnes could not say anything, all she did was stare blankly at him. She closed here eyes and opened them again. "Is this really happening?" She whispered but to the hearing of Ethan.
