Chapter 16: Chapter Sixteen - Can We Get This Over With

Everly

Nothing is official, but I know agreeing to his stupid deal is going to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life, but I can’t deny it will help. I don’t plan on making it easy for him. I am going to make his life a living hell in the same way he has mine since I started working with him. Karama is a bitch.

I slip into my heels and head through to Orson, who is waiting for me. “Can we get this over with?” I groan and stand before him as he sits on the sofa.

He lifts his head, and I expect a smartass remark, but it doesn’t come. He is too busy checking me out. His eyes roam my body from head to toe. His tongue darts along his lips, and a throaty groan escapes from his lips. I smirk, an idea coming to mind. I move closer to him, push his legs apart with my knee and take my place between them. He watches me, his eyes filling with curiosity. I lean down, resting my hands on each side of him on the sofa. Orson swallows hard at the proximity.

“Are you enjoying the view, Orson? Wishing you could have some of this? You don’t like not getting what you want, do you?” I purr, inching my face closer to his.

He shifts on the sofa. “I-I-I don’t want you.”

He doesn’t sound convincing.

“If you didn’t want me, you wouldn’t be as nervous right now.”

Where is the confident, cocky Orson gone?

“If I wanted you, I would have had you by now, many times over. Haven’t you learned in the time you have worked for me that I always get what I want?”

Oh, and there is the confidence coming back through.

“No, you wouldn’t because I wouldn’t allow you to. I have more respect for myself than to jump into bed with you.”

He brings himself to his feet, and we are face to face. I am the same height as him, thanks to my heels, but he is usually a few inches taller than me. I see one of his arms move out of the corner of his eyes. It lands on my hip, and he pulls me tightly against him.

“Sweetness, I would give you the best night of your life. Any other thoughts in your head would vanish because you would be too consumed with how good it feels, with the intense pleasure soaring through your body.” He rasps, his lips closer to mine than I would like.

I fight hard to stop his words from getting to me. I can’t show any weakness in front of him. I honestly don’t doubt his skills in such a department, but he could be the best guy in the world at sex, and I still wouldn’t go there. Even I have my limits. I have been with assholes, and I don’t plan on jumping into bed with another one.

I pat his chest. “You are never going to find out,” I smirk and walk away from him.

I ignore the heat between my thighs. I hear him mutter behind me. I can’t make out what he is saying, and I don’t care. He catches up with me, and we head out to dinner.

“I hope you know you are paying for the dinner and drinks. I didn’t want to come. You forced me, so I am not paying a damn cent.” I state firmly as we go to the elevator.

“I planned on it.” He replies, pressing the button.

I want to get the dinner over with as soon as possible. I will need a drink to help me get through it. No, a bottle is more appropriate. If I dread one dinner with him, how am I going to get through the next few months? I can’t drink all the time to deal with it.

We step into the elevator, and the ride down is silent. When we step out on the ground floor, Orson places his hand on the small of my back, guiding me out and towards the restaurant. The second he says his name, we are quickly shown to our table. Does everyone know Orson and his family?

Orson pulls my chair out for me. I look at him, confused. It doesn’t seem like a very Orson thing to do. I thank him and take my seat, him taking the one across from me.

“Can I get you both a drink?”

“Yes, can I have a bottle of the finest rose wine you have, please?” I say sweetly.

I mean the most expensive one, something I hope she can pick up on. I sit back and smirk across the table at him. I am going to order the most expensive items on the menu just because I can and to be a bitch.

“I will have a glass of your finest scotch straight up,” Orson answers.

She nods and disappears to prepare our drinks.

“What is with the smirk? Do you honestly think it will bother me if you order the most expensive things? I am a billionaire, sweetness. It won’t affect me. You can try getting under my skin, but it won’t work.”

I roll my eyes and huff. I will find a way to get under his skin if it is the last thing I do.

“Whatever.”

I couldn’t come up with a better word than whatever. What age am I? Fourteen.

Orson chuckles. “I can’t be broken easily.”

I ignore him and lift the menu to check it out. If I have to look at him for a second longer, I may end up slapping his smug face. I sigh, shaking my head. I am a grown ass woman, but he makes me act like an angry teenager sometimes. I am more mature than that.

The staff returns with our drinks. I thank her, pour a large glass and take a big gulp. She looks at me with judgment, but I don’t allow it to bother me. If she knew the situation I was in, she would understand. I smile sweetly and take another drink.

“Someone will be over soon to take your order.” She says, disappearing from the table.

“Do you know what you want?” he asks.

I shake my head. “No, not yet. I need a minute.”

“Okay, take your time.”

I nod and pick up the menu again. A lot of the food is a little too fancy for me, but I will find something. The longer I take to order, the longer I will be stuck with him.
