Chapter 6: Hidden Documents

The morning light had long since faded into afternoon shadows by the time Enzo finally left the penthouse. Selene lay on the massive bed for a long time after he was gone, her body still aching from the fever and the relentless claiming in the shower. Every small movement sent a dull throb through her core, a constant reminder of how thoroughly he had taken her. She could still feel the ghost of his touch lingering on her skin, a mix of desire and revulsion. The silver chain on her ankle allowed limited movement. She tested it again, yanking hard until her skin bruised. No give. But it provided enough slack for her to navigate parts of the opulent room, each step a painful reminder of her captivity.

She needed information on his weakness, anything she could use against him.

Limping slightly, Selene explored the luxurious space, her eyes scanning for anything useful. The study door had been left slightly ajar, a rare mistake or perhaps a deliberate trap. Heart racing, she slipped inside, noting the heavy scent of cedar and leather that clung to the air.

A large mahogany desk dominated the room, its polished surface gleaming in the dim light. She rifled through the drawers with careful hands, her pulse quickening with each one she opened. Most were locked, but one wasn't.

Thick folders filled with old documents and photographs awaited her. As she flipped through them, her breath caught. Reports of attacks on both sides. Photos of her mother, beautiful, silver-haired, standing beside a younger version of Selene's father. A handwritten note scrawled in the margin: "The human mate. Weakness. Eliminate."

Rage and grief surged through her, the weight of betrayal heavy in her chest. They had killed her mother for "diluting the bloodline." The anger coursed through her veins like fire, igniting a determination she couldn't ignore.

Deeper in the folder, she found maps outlining Chicago's territory lines, lists of silver weapon suppliers, and cold, strategic plans for war against the wolves. Enzo's handwriting appeared on several pages, detailing techniques to exterminate the Silverfang leadership.

Selene's claws emerged without thinking, nearly shredding the papers in a fit of anger, but she stopped herself. Information was power, and she needed to be smart.

She quickly took photos with the small hidden device her pack had given her before the mission, her hands trembling with adrenaline. Then, meticulously, she returned everything exactly as she found it. The bond tugged at her the entire time, a constant, aching reminder of Enzo's presence. Even now, miles away, she could feel his cold calculation, his growing obsession.

She hated how much she craved the connection. It was a dark thread binding her to him, one she wanted to sever but couldn't ignore.

When she heard the elevator ding later that evening, Selene was back on the bed, pretending to sleep. Enzo entered the room, his presence filling the space like a gathering storm, a palpable tension crackling in the air.

He stopped at the foot of the bed, eyes narrowing as he studied her with predatory intent. "You've been busy, little wolf," he said softly, a hint of amusement lacing his voice.

Selene's heart slammed against her ribs. Had he noticed something?

Enzo crawled onto the bed, pulling the sheet off her naked body with deliberate slowness. His hand slid between her thighs, finding her still wet.

"Wet again," he murmured, pushing two fingers inside her slowly. "Were you thinking about me while I was gone?"

Selene bit her lip, fighting a moan, her body betraying her resolve. "I was thinking about how much I want to kill you."

Enzo chuckled darkly, curling his fingers against her G-spot. "Liar. Your body betrays you every time."

He finger-fucked her slowly, teasingly, while his thumb circled her clit. Selene's breathing turned ragged, the pleasure mingling with her anger, creating a chaotic storm within her.

"Tell me what you found," he whispered, lips brushing her ear, a taunting intimacy that sent shivers down her spine.

"Nothing," she gasped, as her body betrayed her yet again, a flush rising to her cheeks.

Enzo smiled against her skin, a slow, wicked grin that sent a thrill of fear and excitement through her. "We'll see about that.

"

He added a third finger, stretching her, pushing her closer to the edge, yet never allowing her to fall. The interrogation and the pleasure had only just begun, a twisted game of dominance that left her breathless.

Suddenly, he pulled his fingers out, leaving her aching and empty. He gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him. His eyes were cold, dangerous, and far too knowing.

"I know you went through my desk," he said quietly, a chilling certainty in his voice. "Every drawer. Every folder. I saw exactly what you photographed."

Selene's blood turned to ice. Her heart pounded so hard she could hear it in her ears, fear mingling with frustration.

Enzo leaned in, lips brushing hers in a mocking, almost-kiss. His voice dropped to a deadly whisper. "But here's the real question, little wolf…" He paused, letting the silence stretch painfully long, his breath hot against her lips. "Did you find the file I wanted you to find?

"

His smile was slow, dark, and utterly terrifying, a predator savoring the thrill of the hunt.

He stood up slowly, towering over her chained form. "Sleep well tonight, Selene. Tomorrow, we play a new game.

"The door clicked shut behind him, leaving her alone in the dark with the weight of his words and the growing dread that she had just walked into a trap far more dangerous than she realized.

Selene stared at the closed door for a long time, her heart pounding. The bond tugged at her, pulling her toward him even now, like a moth to a flame. She had come here to kill him. Instead, she was chained to his bed, leaking his cum, and wondering if every move she made, every photo she took, had been anticipated from the very beginning.

What file had he wanted her to find?

What game was he really playing?

And how deep did the manipulation go?

The walls of the penthouse suddenly felt like the walls of a cage, closing in on her. She could almost hear the whispers of her pack, urging her to escape, to resist.

And Selene was no longer sure who the hunter was…

…and who was the prey.

The weight of her situation pressed down on her, and the flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows that seemed to mock her. Each shadow held a piece of Enzo's cold gaze, reminding her of his power over her. She could feel the anger bubbling beneath her skin, a fierce determination rising within her. She would not be a pawn in his game. Tomorrow might bring new challenges, but she would prepare herself. She would outwit him.

As she lay there, the darkness wrapping around her like a shroud, she resolved to reclaim her life, her mother's legacy, and her own identity. No matter what it took.
