Chapter 76: a friend like Tricia
The sun rays penetrated my room and fell on my face. I became uncomfortable and grabbed the pillow to cover my face and protect it from the sun.
I dropped the pillow and sat up immediately, had a slight headache.
"Where am I? Ah! Tricia's apartment. I had the most terrible day yesterday." I sighed heavily and pulled myself out of the bed and made my way into the bathroom.
I stood still and stared at the mirror for minutes, my mind was blank. I felt lost. That moment, I needed a magic wand to fix the mess Godfrey got me into.
The moment I recalled I was in bed with Godfrey, I quickly undressed and ran into the shower cubicle and switched on the shower. I began to scrub my body, to rid it of all his smell.
I fell on my knees in tears and cried to my heart content.
I got out of the shower cubicle and dried up my body and returned back t the bedroom.
I sat on the couch staring at my bag for minutes. Where do I start from to unpack? How was Jayden able to pack up my things? Did he actually pack everything?
I quickly placed one of the boxes and unzipped it and sighed heavily.
"of course, he did pack everything. I'm doomed."
I fell back on the bed and stared into the thin air, with a lot of thoughts running through my mind, making me exhausted.
Rolling over, I spotted the time and sprang up, breakfast cravings kicking in. Grabbing a gown from the box, I quickly changed and left for the kitchen.
"Are you awake already? Good morning. Have a seat, I already made breakfast. Do you want some? Sure you do" Tricia tittered.
"Good morning Tricia and yes, I want breakfast. I'm really starved and need some food in this stomach and thank you for making breakfast" I smiled at her.
"Okay. I'll serve you"
"Thank you. Wow! It feels good and weird to be here" I sighed heavily.
"Breakfast" Tricia said placing the food before me. "Enjoy"
Tricia served hers and pulled out the chair and sat down.
Tricia and I ate in silence. A few times did our eyes meet and her eyes bore so many questions for me to provide answers and I would casually avert my gaze and continue eating,
We were done with breakfast and Tricia cleared the table and I watched her do so, finishing the glass of juice in my hand.
I washed the glass, placed it on the rack and left for the living room.
Tricia joined me at the living room with a plate of dessert which she placed on the table.
"Have some dessert" Tricia said taking a bite of the cheese cake she made.
"yes thank you"
"Do you want to talk about?
"Talk about what?
"Talk about you being here with all your luggage, in a bad and sad mood. I couldn't sleep properly last night cause I was worried sick about you. The state I saw you in last night broke my heart. I kept checking upon you in your bedroom and for hours before you finally slept off. You were weeping and my heart shattered at each tear drop from your eyes. I was so scared and worried and I needed to know what the hell was going on"
"Tricia, you are such a good friend. I know I frightened you last night. I apologize"
"No, please don't. you can talk to me. Unpack your worries, all your troubles. I'll help you the much I can"
"Yes"
"So, what's going on? What happened?
"Jayden asked me to leave his house"
"What!!
"Jayden wants to get a divorce. He asked me to leave his house and his life"
"What the fuck! Jayden is definitely crazy! How dare Jayden insult and humiliate my best friend! And he asked you to leave at night! WOW! Why! What led to this?
"Jayden caught me in bed with another man in a hotel"
"Whaaaaaattt? Her jaw dropped
"Yes and he asked me to leave"
"Wow! This is crazy. Now tell me, who framed you up?
"What? What are you saying?
"Hey! We have been living together for the past seven to eight years and I know you so well Monalisa, even more than you know yourself. I know you are a virgin and you are not a disloyal person. For you to have found yourself in such messy situation...someone definitely framed you. So I ask again, who framed you and who was the bastard in bed with you?
"Godfrey"
"Who the fuck is Godfrey?
"My ex fiancé"
"Ex fiancé...you mean the fiancé you abandoned at the altar and ran away from your wedding?
I nodded. "Yes, that's him"
Tricia gasped and quickly covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes grew bigger and her eye brows were up.
"How in the world did that son of a gun find you here in LA?
"Same question I asked myself when I saw him the first time"
"Hold on. Your ex was in town and you didn't bother to inform me? Are you nuts? And you met up with him right? You!
"Guess who brought him all the way from California to LA?
"Who?
"Cynthia"
"What!! oh! Someone better hold me back. My blood is boiling real hot and I'm definitely in the mood to kill that motherfucker! Why! Why! Why did that bastard ex of yours turn up after all these years"
"Apparently to seek revenge on me for bailing out on him on our wedding day"
"What? oh goodness, I feel so nauseous,. What! after many years went by and you are finally happy, he dare show up to shatter it all"
"Well, that's the point of revenge. When they are happy and east expect your presence...you strike and leave them devastated. He did and I am devastated. To think that I got fooled by him" I sighed heavily.
"You got fooled by him? What do you mean by that?
"I tried talking t him to give up on this revenge course and he agreed . then I received a message from him asking me to come back to the hotel to discuss on how we can expose Cynthia to Jayden and deal with her. I did, I went back and then I woke up and saw myself naked in bed with him"
"And what did that bastard do?
"He claimed to have no idea of what had happened. He acted all surprise. I didn't listen to him. I got up and left"
"Without clothes on?
"oh no. Don't be silly. Of course I did put my clothes on"
"During the meeting...when he agreed...what was his reaction like?
"I don't know. I can't remember"
"When you got back, did someone knock you off with a weapon?
"No. I remember. A drink"
"Drink?
"I had something to drink then I started to feel dizzy"
"Your drink was spiked. We have to uncover the truth and the mastermind behind this. Get ready, we leave immediately"
"To where?
Tricia rubbed her palms and smirked.
"The she devil is coming" Tricia smirked, leaving me confused.
