Chapter 16 The Kiss
The next thing she knew, she was in her bedroom when she woke up. It was her Aunt Meryl who worriedly asked about her condition when she woke up. According to her, she collapsed in the school and was brought to the Infirmary. It was the School's Nurse who called her Aunt and Uncle to fetch her up in the school. When memories flashed back into her, she felt her tears streamed down again. How she wished that what happened to Mackie was just all a dream. That she was not getting bullied in school as well and Thyago is not avoiding her. She never even had a chance to patch things up with her friend before he died and that's what she was regretting the most.
She couldn't understand why do these terrible things befell on her? She doesn't deserve this. Nobody does. She lost one of her best friends whom she valued a lot and then she lost Thyago's trust and their friendship which the thing she only got. She has no one to turn to now. She felt so alone and miserable. She only wished her Dad will come home and asked him to leave this town, away from the people here.
She tried calling her father and when she finally heard his voice she couldn't help herself to weep and pull out all the emotions she have. She cried hoping through shedding tears, the pain inside will vanish but it never did. Her father comforted her and told her everything will be fine soon. How she badly wished his presence was there at the moment. She badly needs someone to hold her and a shoulder to cry on because she can't take all of this any longer. If she knew this will happen to her, she should not have written that diary at all. She should not choose to be close to Thyago so that way she never loses her friends. She should have been there with Mackie and who knows she could have had a chance to help him with his problems or could have patch things between them at least before they lost him. She never thought this what will lead her in secretly admiring and loving Thyago from afar. She just became content with the little attention Thyago can give her as a friend and never ask for more but look what did she get from this? She totally lost Thyago in the end. Because Elena had polluted Thyago's mind and told him such lies, he avoided her and seemed closing doors to hear her explanations. Now she's in total misery. She did this to herself so no one to blame but her.
She doesn't know what went through her that night but she meddles in her Uncle Ben's vintage wine collection and stole one bottle out of it. She sneaked it through her room and drank it. Adult says that alcohol is another way to forget the problems for a while. She was desperate and she just wanted to be lost for a moment to forget and escape her problems. Just like what she could watch on the television and being thrilled with the bittersweet taste of wine, she consumed the wine until she got drunk. Feeling dizzy and sleepy, she was about to lay in bed when she heard a sound of a car engine outside. Her room was on the second floor facing the front gate of the house so she can check on her window who was outside. She peeped into her window and just like what she expected, it was Thyago's car bringing home the ever so precious Elena. Again, the pain inside her returned. She even cursed the alcohol who promised her to forget for a while because it seems like the pain gets stronger, it gets more deeper like hell.
It might be the influence of alcohol when she got the courage to go outside and talk to Thyago. She went out of the house and run after him when she saw Elena entered the house. She doesn't care if her evil cousin will be caught chasing Thyago, she just only wanted to explain her side.
"T-Thyago c-can we talk for a w-while?" She said in a drunk manner. He was about to get inside the car when she caught his attention. That stopped him from hopping in his car.
"P-Please...." She pleaded almost crying.
There was hesitation written on his face but thank God he stopped for a moment and nod silently as a sign that he agreed. She walked forward to come near him but he hesitantly stepped backward. That gesture really hurt her. Did he despise her that much to avoid being near her?
"L-Listen a-about the diary, it is not what you think..." She started to explain.
"Really?" His tone is sarcastic and that made her weak and started to lose her courage and hopes.
"B-Believe me, I got contented being just your friend and don't have any desire or intentions that you would like me at all. I valued our friendship and I don't wanna lose it because it's the only thing I have right now." Tears started to stream down her cheeks but she took for granted it. She can't help it because his face is blank and emotionless, seems like he had made up his mind that whatever she will say, he won't gonna believe it.
"Elena is wrong to even thought that I deceived you because I didn't. Please believe me this time because the last thing I would do is hurt you. I want you to bear that in mind." She said while crying.
"Really? But that's not what I've read in the diary." He replied full of sarcasm.
Hearing those words, her shoulders dropped in hopelessness. He doesn't believe her and she doesn't think he will ever be. She lost him, that is the bitter fact and it fucking hurts like hell!
"I don't think we should be talking again. I should go, Bea." Those bitter words are like thousands of stabs in her heart. How could he be so heartless this way?
"Just like that Thyago? I thought you will always be there for me and sided me no matter what?" She accused bitterly.
"You fooled me, you never intended to be my friend in the first place. You have your motives in befriending me."
"I may fell in love with you but I am still your friend and I never fooled you just like Elena told you. Why can't you believe me?" Now that she finally find the courage and determination to talk and confide her true feelings, unfortunately, Thyago only gave her cold and angry treatment.
"Stop this please, Bea. Our friendship is over." She closed her eyes brought by the pain of his harsh and ruthless word. When he suddenly opened the door of his car and was about to leave, she suddenly got alarmed and don't know what to say or do to stop him.
"Wait! " She exclaimed.
The next thing she knew, she did what's probably running right through her mind just to stop him. She gathered all her strength and pulled him to face her then claimed his lips. Confused and stunned by the sudden impetuosity brought by her kiss, she felt him got stunned. She hesitantly move her lips through his in a gentler manner then closed her eyes. She was not a good kisser, probably because it was her first but then who cares? All that matters now is to let Thyago knows how much she loves him. Knowing it's her last chance to show her real feelings, and knowing she will regret this in the end anyway, she decided to make the most out of it by giving all her emotions into that kiss. The kiss lasted for like a couple of minutes.
How did it end? It disappointed her when Thyago gently pushed her and stopped her from kissing him. She bravely met his eyes and he had this blank expression then changes into a dark and furious face. Seeing his expression, she would rather choose to be slap hard in the face than see him looking so disgusted at what she did.
"Enough, Bea." He phrased it solemnly while his eyes are blazing in fury. She got scared the way he stated those words. He was angry, she was sure with that. Is the idea of being kissed by her disgust him so much? Oh yeah, because she was not Elena.
"I-Im s-sorry... " She stuttered feeling so embarrassed. She doesn't know what gone into her why she did that but she doesn't regret it, never! She could feel his anger and glares and it made her wanna wish to just evaporate at the moment.
"You know what? Just get inside. And please do me a favor. Stay away from my life from now on." With that, her heart shattered into pieces. Her face stoops down feeling embarrassed finally losing her hopes in getting back even their friendship.
She saw him disgustingly get in the car and left. He was totally mad, she had seen how his veins down his neck corded and how his jaw clenched in anger. He disgusts the feeling of her kiss. She felt her heart wallowed in deep pain as her heart shattered into tiny little pieces.
And that was the last time she could remember seeing Thyago...
When her Dad find out about her situation and the condition of her grades, he got worried so he decided to leave his job in Japan and wend back to the country. Getting her heartbroken, together with the pain, insults, and humiliation she had been through on the Campus, she requested her father to leave town and start in a new place. It's a good thing that her Dad decided to venture into the cattle and ranch business so he bought a ranch in the North Province and they left the town and move to a different place to start over.
