Chapter 11 His Flaws and Insecurities
Camping Day 1 :
It was one lucky day. As Thyago said, Elena didn't come in the camping so that means she will never have a chance to ruin her day. No villain who will ruin her perfect moment with Thyago and no freakin' witch who will destroy her fantasies. Mackie and Hannah came along in the camping and thank God she was able to convince them. She was so excited as soon she wakes up this morning. It will surely be one heck of a fun and amazing event. It was two days being with Thyago and her friends. Two days in paradise where she can have a chance to monopolize Thyago. She brought her diary to make sure she will chronicle the whole story coming. She has to make sure every detail will be perfectly written for her to cherished. Writing her own love story was her happiness hoping that it will be an happy ending when she finally reached the final chapter.
The Camping was held in the forest two miles away from the town. It was a safe camping place with the beautiful scenery of a creek. The moment they came to the place, they were ordered to build their tents. Hannah and her will share a tent and Mackie will join a senior student named Glenn. Thyago will be joining the team Captain along with another guy she doesn't know the name and her naughty mind even wonder how does it feel like to be joining him in a tent. The thought made her smile like silly. They were currently having problems building their tent when Thyago suddenly butted in which made her blushed feeling guilty about what came in her mind.
"Problem girls?" Thyago asked.
"Yeah, we're having a bit of a problem in building our tent." She answered shyly.
"Need help?" He asked.
"No, we can manage Thyago." She was about to say yes when Hannah immediately declined Thyago's offer. She eyed Hannah giving her a warning look.
The truth is Hannah is still opposing on her getting along with Thyago. She had explained to her best friends that she wanted to try again for the second time. Mackie supported her on her decision but not Hannah. She said he'll just hurt her in the end. She also doesn't like the idea of going in this camping but as a friend, they vowed to support each other so she agreed to come with her somehow to make her happy.
"If you need help, you know I would gladly help you guys." Thyago still insisted.
"Thanks but we're perfectly fine." Hannah snapped. She covertly pinched Hannah that made her winced a bit and then she eyed her giving her friend a warning look to behave.
"Honestly, we badly needed a helping hand because we don't really know how to build this damn tent. Hannah here just doesn't like bothering anyone asking for help since we all have tasks. So-called- pride, you know..." She whispered the last sentence to Thyago that made the latter smile.
"Come on Hannah, it's not so bad to ask for help sometimes right?" She immediately added glaring at Hannah.
Then that's it, Thyago helped them built their tent. Mackie also joined to help them as soon as he was done with their tent. Thyago was fun to be with, he's a bit comical and has a good sense of humor. He even makes Mackie laugh so hard even Hannah was forcing herself not to laugh but it's obvious she was enjoying Thyago's jokes too.
At lunch, the whole team had their meal together. They formed a big circle and they combine all their brought foods. It was fun and amazing because they ate with their bare hands. They all eat together without finicky, finesse, or hesitancy and they all eat with their heart's content. The reason behind it is they have to set aside whims and modernity that technology brought to humans, to temporarily come out of their comfort zone and connect with nature. No one's allowed to use gadgets or anything that affects technology. They have to live as the ancients do for two days and that's the main purpose of camping- to value and love nature. The idea sounds cool and educational, she'll be hoping to enjoy every activity and task they will do.
Sitting beside Thyago and on her other side is Mackie, she secretly took glances at him as he chew his food. When he accidentally caught her looking at him, she suddenly got alarmed and think of a way to conceive. What she did is she gently wipe the side of his lips and told him he got a smudge on the side of his mouth. Mackie teasingly cleared his throat that made her cheeks blushed.
Damn, his lips felt so soft!
What more if my lips brushed into his?
She couldn't help to smile at the thought. Mackie then just gave her a teasing smile while Hannah rolled her eyes.
After lunch some went through the forest and look for woods to use in making a bonfire, some were given such tasks to do, some just hang around examining the place and some went on the creek near the camping place. She decided to walk near the creek and watch Mackie and Hannah playfully soaked their feet on the water. They asked her to join them from afar but she just shook her head showing them that she's just fine staying from afar.
"Having fun?" A gasp escaped her mouth when Thyago suddenly butts in behind her.
"Y-Yeah, it is beautiful here." She answered as she secretly composed herself.
Doesn't he know how he affects her? Her composure and emotions are immediately being jeopardized whenever he was near her and he's the only person who has the capacity to do that to her. Strange but she somehow likes the feeling brought by it.
"I love going to a place like this. It makes me forget all the worries and problems I have." She felt his voice has a tinge of sadness the reason she couldn't resist herself to look him straight in the eyes.
She wanna ask him what he's tho king but she stops herself to do so. She suddenly felt hesitant and thought that he might not want to talk about it. She'll just let him confide if he wants to because she doesn't want to look nosy in his impression. She will listen and will state her opinion if she needs to.
"This is the perfect place to escape and hide, isn't it? It's very peaceful here, away from city troubles." She joked as she gave him a silly laugh.
"Yeah, and away from disgusting people who expect you to be something you're not." His voice was once again filled with emotions, a tinge of bitterness this time.
"You wanna talk about it? I am now your friend right?" She told him with a bit of hesitation hoping not to upset him.
"You can tell me about it. Promise I won't judge. But if you're not comfortable talking about it then it's okay I understand." She gave him an understanding smile to show him she won't judge him no matter what.
"I join camping because I wanna escape reality for a while. The people around me giving me higher expectations pressures me too much. It feels like I can't take it anymore so I needed this break for a while. It sucks portraying an image of perfection, you know. That I have no right to make mistakes that will tend to disappoint the people I care about." He sighed afterward then stare blankly at the creek.
She was stunned with his revelation, yes, and she felt his pain and bitterness. Who would have thought that the Thyago she adores has insecurities too?
"It's okay to make mistakes, we're not perfect, you know." She stated.
"Tell that to my family and they will laugh you at. I got tired of impressing my father that whatever I may prove or achievements I may reach, I know it'll never be enough. It sucks to be me, you know..." She saw him smile bitterly and it felt like her heart was crumpled seeing him that way.
All along she thought he was the epitome of excellence and perfection. He almost got everything, good looks, popularity, and a good and rich family. A lot of guys surely wanted to be in his shoes. Why he seemed not happy being who he is, she even like him the way he is.
"Does your parents know about what you feel?" She asked.
"What for? To disappoint them more? They will never understand."
"They ought to know, Thyago. They will surely understand if you try to explain your part. Is this why you love activities like this? This was like your hideaway to escape and forget just for a little while?" She understands him now. She could feel his sadness and frustration and she wanted to show that she cares for him.
"Yeah, sort of." He ruefully answered.
"You know what? I've never told anyone this weakness I have towards a friend even those close friends of mine but when it comes to you, I feel like it was so easy to confide. It's like I can trust you and feel like you will not judge me. I don't know, somethings telling me you can be my confidant and best companion." She got stunned by just what he said.
"Now I feel special." She said giving him a warm smile.
"I hope you won't mind, Bea..."
The truth is she was flattered. Imagine, Thyago chose to trust her that much? It brings too much pleasure to her heart. That in just that simple way, she felt being valued by him.
"Of course not. I really wouldn't mind " She replied happily.
He never thought that behind that facade is a lonely and frustrated individual. That behind his perfect look and excellent abilities is a person with insecurities and weaknesses too. Truth is, she never felt any disappointment nor did the attraction she felt towards him lessen. It even grows deeper and stronger as a matter of fact. She likes him more even now, his flaws and all.
"Thanks." He replied with eyes giving her a deep and meaningful stare.
"Promise me you'll be my confidant too. That no matter what, you'll always be on my side even if I was wrong or stubborn. That you will listen to me and not castigate me even if I was unreasonable or childish sometimes. Will you agree with that?" She uttered seriously. He smiled at her as he nods giving her assurance. That filled her heart with too much joy, she will probably hold on to that promise of him.
After an hour of hanging around nearby the camping place, they heard a loud whistle as a sign that they have to go to the assembly area back to the camping place. Within a minute, they all gather up and started continuing different activities. They were given lectures about the importance and purpose of the camping. They shared different stories and experiences on their previous camping and they also made some fun games that they all enjoyed.
At sunset, they started building a bonfire for the night ahead. Mackie and Hannah busied themselves in making smores and hotdog barbecues that they will cook over the bonfire. And when the night came, they all gather up and formed a big circle outside the bonfire. Almost everyone is wearing a jacket, looks like the night ahead will going to be chilly and breezy. When the team leader brought a guitar and strum various popular songs, they all sing along together. Thyago was requested to do a solo song and he willingly oblige. He took the guitar and started strumming it in a familiar tune. The moment he started singing, she never blink nor take her eyes off him. She just simply got mesmerized by his voice for he really got a beautiful voice. She even felt Mackie jerking his elbow on her but she didn't mind the teasing of her friend. She never thought he have a beautiful voice and he was so damn hot with his guitar. Her whole attention was on Thyago while he was singing. She just can't take away her eyes from him.
The rest of the night was fun until the time hits ten so they decided to go to their designated tents and take a rest. Before she decided to lay and sleep, she pull out her diary in her bag and started writing. Hannah even asked her what she's doing, she just told her to not mind her and go to sleep. When Hannah was past asleep and almost snoring, she finally do what she have to- to write in her diary.

Camping Day One is educational, enjoying and really amazing and that is because your Master is with me too. He helped us in building our tent, he's really kind and very helpful, you know...
Another thing, I didn't know your Master posses such a beautiful voice and damn! He knows how to play the guitar! I was stunned and mesmerized the moment he sang the intro. He can serenade me all night long and I won't get tired listening to his wonderful voice. I just can't take my eyes off him while he sings. Just can't help falling hard with him more. He was really amazing...
Before that, we actually had a serious talk. He confided in me his insecurities and weaknesses. He told me he can trust me for he knew I will never judge him. I'm so glad and flattered he felt that way towards me. I get to discover his flaws and insecurities but it didn't disappoint me nor decrease the attraction I felt for him. As a matter of fact, it even goes deeper and stronger. He may not be perfect, well no one is. Everyone has flaws and weaknesses and I love everything about him. The thing that gratified me the most is when he asked me to be his confidant and best companion. He even made a promise that he'll always be at my side no matter what. That he won't castigate me even if I was unreasonable and wrong. He said he will always choose my side and that's a promise. I was so happy at that moment and it felt so surreal. I will hold on to that promise and hopefully, he won't break it...
