Lance suppressed his emotions, took the phone, and said softly, "What's wrong?"
"Uncle, is Mommy being bullied over there?" The two little ones asked nervously.
Chloe didn't forget to remind him, "Uncle, you must protect Mommy."
Listening to this, Lance's previously gloomy mood improved significantly. He responded lightly with a smile, "Don't worry, I will protect your Mommy."
Deanna, however, looked over with a strange expression upon hearing this. What nonsense was this man telling the kids? Did she really need his protection?
Meanwhile, in Leticia's room.
Mrs. Walsh frowned and asked, "Leticia, what is going on with you? You are becoming more and more unreasonable. You weren't like this before."
"What do you mean?" Leticia found her mother's question baffling.
Mrs. Walsh said sternly, "Don't play dumb with me. I won't even mention the issues between you and Deanna, but what happened today? Mr. Mercer is clearly with Dr. Deanna. Don't you know that? Yet you still went to provoke Mr. Mercer. Do you know how shameless your actions are?"
Hearing this, Leticia became a bit angry. "How am I shameless? Everyone has the right to pursue happiness. I fell in love with Lance at first sight. Is it wrong for me to pursue him?"
She looked at her mother confidently and continued, "And who said Lance and that woman Deanna are together? Did they admit it? Even if they are together, as long as they are not married, I still have a chance."
Mrs. Walsh was shocked by these words, staring at her daughter in disbelief. She never expected such shameless words to come from her own daughter.
After recovering from the shock, she said angrily, "I think Hassan was right when he said you've been spoiled by your father and me!"
Seeing her mother so angry, Leticia's expression softened. She tugged at Mrs. Walsh's sleeve and said coquettishly, "Mommy, don't be angry, okay? I really like Lance. You want your daughter to be happy too, right?"
Leticia knew how to soften her parents' hearts since they had always doted on her. Acting coquettishly was one of her most effective tactics.
Indeed, Mrs. Walsh's attitude softened under Leticia's coquettish attack. Moreover, she had always been concerned about her daughter's marriage. Now that there was someone who Leticia liked and who was also outstanding in both family background and personal qualities, how could she not be tempted?
However, she still hesitated, "I'm afraid your father and grandfather won't agree to this."
After all, her husband had very upright principles and would be disgusted by such behavior, even feeling ashamed.
Leticia didn't care about that and said seriously, "Then we just won't let Daddy and Grandpa know. Mommy will help me, right?"
Mrs. Walsh looked at her daughter's expectant eyes and couldn't bring herself to say no.
After finishing the call with the two little ones, Deanna glanced at the time on the screen; it was almost eight o'clock.
"We need to go back. I still have to do a check-up on Old Walsh later."
"Then let's go back," Lance nodded and led her back the way they came.
Soon, they returned to the Walsh family home. Lance escorted her to Old Walsh's room and then said mischievously, "Finish up early; I'll be waiting for you in the room."
Deanna was momentarily speechless. She said exasperatedly, "You didn't take Old Walsh's words seriously, did you?"
To her, it was just a joke between Old Walsh and Old Hughes; there was no way they would actually arrange for them to stay together.
Seeing this, Lance realized that Deanna hadn't taken it seriously at all and laughed, "If you want to know if it's true or not, you can ask Old Walsh." With that, he left mysteriously.
Of course, Deanna wouldn't really go ask Old Walsh but she could ask Old Hughes.
After finishing the check-up, she approached Old Hughes and asked quietly, "Do you know where Old Walsh arranged Mr. Mercer's room?"
"What room arrangement? Isn't Lance staying with you?" Old Hughes blinked and pretended not to understand Deanna's question.
Unfortunately for him, Deanna caught the mischievous glint in his eyes and felt frustrated. "Please stop joking around and tell me where Old Walsh arranged Mr. Mercer's room."
"There really isn't any arrangement. I told Old Walsh that you two are a couple, and Old Walsh asked Lance about it too. Lance didn't deny it, so you really are sharing a room."
Old Hughes said this while winking at Deanna and added with a sly smile, "Make good use of this opportunity; don't waste my efforts. I hope to hear good news from you two tomorrow morning."
Deanna looked at him in resignation. "Old Hughes, you're really setting me up here. Don't expect any more prescriptions from me in the future!"
