Gregory and Chloe stood behind Deanna, exchanging puzzled looks.
They couldn't understand why their mommy suddenly decided to treat this handsome uncle.
Though confused, they didn't dare to interrupt and just watched quietly.
"Meow."
A soft cat's meow came from outside the door. Two little kittens were locked out.
They glanced at each other and realized their kittens had come looking for them!
The two children tiptoed to the door, opened it, each picked up a kitten, and returned to watch their mommy.
Deanna skillfully sterilized the needle.
"Let's begin."
She gave a nod and deftly inserted the needle into Lance's back.
The speed was so quick that before he could feel any pain, it was already done, leaving a slight soreness in his back.
Gregory and Chloe, feeling bored, met Lance's eyes.
His gaze was sharp but inexplicably kind.
"Handsome Uncle, so you really aren't here to ask for money from us."
Chloe bravely spoke up, her voice soft and sweet.
She felt that this uncle didn't seem so scary after all.
Lance looked at her, taking the opportunity to observe the little girl closely.
She was lively and adorable, with a gentle and sweet demeanor. Her smile was like that of a little angel.
Hearing her voice made him feel healed.
Seeing how cute she was, he couldn't help but smile slightly and replied to her.
"Yes, consider that money as payment for your mommy's treatment."
Chloe nodded and smiled, her voice sweet: "I knew it, uncle doesn't look like a bad person."
Lance wondered why she had been so afraid of him earlier, hiding behind others to avoid his gaze.
Gregory suddenly pulled his sister back, warningly saying, "Don't talk to strangers. We don't know him well yet. Mommy said we shouldn't judge people by their looks. Just because he's good-looking doesn't mean he's a good person."
Chloe blinked adorably, thinking that made sense.
She nodded to her brother and then looked worriedly at her mommy. "But mommy let him into the room. If he's a bad person, wouldn't we be in danger?"
They continued their discussion about whether Lance was a good or bad person right in front of him.
Lance watched with interest, not saying a word.
Xavier also found it amusing. These two little ones dared to talk about Mr. Mercer in front of him.
They were indeed brave; no one had ever dared to do so before.
"Kids, we are all good people, not bad ones." He bent down and spoke gently at their eye level.
Gregory snorted and turned his head away, unimpressed.
"You brought so many bodyguards. In movies, only big villains have such an entourage. You look like dangerous people. Besides, we don't know you well. We don't even know your names. Why should we trust you?"
Mommy said they should always be cautious of everyone. He would become a man someday and protect his sister and mommy.
Lance looked at Gregory with admiration; his words were logical.
He immediately said, "You have a point."
He instructed Xavier to take out one of his business cards and handed it to Gregory, raising an eyebrow. "Can you read it?"
Gregory sniffed with some displeasure. "Who do you think you're looking down on? I can read plenty of words!"
He took the card and read it word by word: "President of Mercer Group, Lance!"
The little guy was stunned for a moment.
Xavier stood up and smiled. "Do you know Mercer Group?"
"Of course I do!"
He usually watched the news and knew about things happening outside.
Gregory regained his composure, his face full of disbelief. He asked Lance suspiciously: "Are you really the president of Mercer Group?"
He couldn't wrap his head around why such a big figure would come to their mommy for treatment.
Lance nodded, finding the little guy very cute.
He was very pleased with his reaction.
For some reason, he was growing more fond of these two children.
Deanna's hand trembled slightly upon hearing that voice, almost imperceptibly.
Her expression became serious. She had guessed he might be from the Mercer family when Ava called him "Mr. Mercer."
After all, the Mercer surname was rare in this city.
But she hadn't expected that this man was actually the president of Mercer Group; it startled her.
This president was legendary in the outside world.
Rumor had it that he was a once-in-a-century business genius recognized by the Mercer family.
He dominated the business world with extraordinary skills and insights into company management.
Mercer Group was the top family in this city. Its current status owed much to this president's efforts.
She never expected to run into him and become his doctor.
She glanced at Lance, her eyes full of surprise for just a moment.
However, who he was didn't matter much to her.
Once the treatment was over and she repaid the money she owed them, it wouldn't matter who Mr. Mercer was to her anymore.
She squeezed the needle in her hand and refocused, placing it steadily on the acupuncture point with just the right amount of pressure.
