Chapter 20 Disaster is Coming

Mia worriedly glanced at her husband and changed the subject, "Garrett, we were planning to finalize Deanna's marriage during Emily's wedding. But looking at her now, it seems she won't easily come back."

Garrett snorted coldly, his face full of greed.

"She has to come back, I will find a way, she has no choice! Besides, when the time comes, the Cole family will definitely come to claim her. Where will we find a bride for them? It's already an honor for Deanna that the Cole family is willing to marry her, especially after that scandal! Only a fool would refuse."

The alliance with the Cole family was their true purpose for bringing Deanna back.

The Cole family was a prestigious and wealthy family with a long history of talented individuals, and this generation was no exception.

The Cole family was great in every aspect, but unfortunately, they had a prodigal son who was notorious for his recklessness.

He dared to do anything and had a bad reputation.

As karma would have it, he recently had an accident while racing and ended up with a disabled leg. It was said that he would never be able to walk again and became a cripple.

Coincidentally, he was of marriageable age and had no suitable match.

With his bad reputation, no woman would be willing to marry him.

The ones with good conditions looked down on him, and he looked down on those with poor conditions. He had to find someone who matched him.

The Cole family was worried and searching for a suitable lady from a respectable family.

They were open-minded, even accepting second marriages, and promised a generous dowry.

Coincidentally, two months ago, the Jones Group suffered a huge loss due to a business deal. They urgently needed funds to fill the gap.

Garrett was worried, and Mia came up with the idea of marrying Deanna off to solve their financial crisis.

The Jones Group was not a small company; they would agree to it.

Garrett didn't hesitate at the time and happily agreed.

Deanna had brought shame upon him. He no longer saw her as his daughter. Now that she had some use, there was no reason to refuse.

In Garrett's eyes, Deanna should not only not refuse but also be grateful to him.

Little did he know that this girl now truly had no gratitude.

Mia and Emily exchanged glances, both showing expressions of satisfaction.

They both hated Deanna to the core. Mother and daughter were united in their greatest wish: to see Deanna suffer.

The worse her situation became, the happier they would be!

Clearly, Garrett was determined to ensure the marriage between the Jones and Cole families. Marrying Deanna to a notorious cripple was akin to pushing her to her death.

In fact, Emily had only taken a fall. Compared to the darkness Deanna was about to face, Emily's soiled clothes were a trivial matter.

Emily was full of smugness. She had to make Deanna marry into the Cole family, completely destroying her spirit, making her the wife of a cripple, humiliated daily, living in hell.

How dare she be so arrogant all the time, and her premarital pregnancy had shamed their family; this was what Deanna owed them.

Now, let her marry another useless, crippled man.

It really suited her status.

Once the marriage was set, this bitch would have no reason to cling to her Raphael anymore!

Meanwhile, in the hospital, Deanna was feeding Old Ashley lunch. Old Ashley suddenly remembered something and said, "Later, go pick up Gregory. Remember to bring a couple of jackets for Chloe after class. These kids are so young, their resistance is weak, it would be bad if they caught a cold."

She adored the two little ones in the family the most; if they got sick, she, as their great-grandmother, would be heartbroken.

Deanna walked over and said, "Grandma, I won't be coming back tonight; I've asked Julia to take care of them."

Suddenly, Deanna felt her nose tingle inexplicably and sneezed.

At the same time, a chill ran through her body, and she couldn't help but shiver. She quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe the spilled porridge. Thankfully, it didn't splash on her grandmother.

Old Ashley looked at her with concern, seeing her shivering and sneezing, thinking she was cold.

"Anna, if you're cold, just close the window. The weather is turning chilly; you must take care of yourself and wear more clothes."

"Okay." Deanna smiled, got up, and closed the window.

She felt a bit strange; it was midday, too early to catch a cold. She had a foreboding feeling that something bad was about to happen.
