After listening to Lance, Deanna finally compromised.
She followed Lance to the restaurant for a meal.
During the meal, Lance curiously asked, "Can you tell me what you're doing?"
Deanna glanced at him and, without hiding anything, said truthfully, "An eye for an eye. Whatever suffering she caused my grandmother, I will make her experience it a hundredfold, a thousandfold."
Lance was not surprised by her words.
He remained silent, unsure of what to say.
He didn't want Deanna to stain her hands with blood; it wasn't worth it for such scum.
But he also knew he couldn't stop Deanna.
Otherwise, it would become a lifelong regret for her.
Unaware of his thoughts, Deanna swallowed the last bite of her meal, put down her chopsticks, and said eagerly, "I'm done eating. I'm heading to the pharmacy."
"Alright, be safe."
Lance didn't stop Deanna and watched her leave.
After a day and night of hard work, Deanna finally produced the toxin she wanted by early the next morning.
But at that moment, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach.
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly picked up her phone from the table and called Lance.
Lance didn't answer the call but walked in directly. "Deanna, what's wrong?"
As soon as he spoke, he saw Deanna's pale face and her hands clutching her stomach. His expression changed drastically. He quickly walked over, scooped her up in his arms, and rushed out.
"Sam, Sam, get the car ready!"
Once outside, Lance shouted loudly.
Seeing Lance carrying Deanna and looking panicked, Sam hurriedly responded and went to arrange the car.
They sped all the way and arrived at the hospital in just over ten minutes.
Doctors and nurses were already waiting at the hospital entrance.
Seeing Lance carrying Deanna out of the car, they immediately pushed a gurney over.
Shortly after Deanna was taken into the emergency room, Gunner arrived in a hurry.
Seeing Lance standing in the hallway with a dark expression, Gunner asked sternly, "What happened?"
"The doctor just came out and said Deanna has mild poisoning. Combined with emotional fluctuations and malnutrition recently, there's a risk of miscarriage."
Lance repeated what the doctor had said.
Gunner was shocked. "Poisoning? How could she be poisoned?"
Upon hearing this, Lance's expression turned grave and he fell silent.
He wasn't sure if he should say anything.
But if he didn't speak, Gunner would sense something was wrong. Gunner's face immediately turned severe. "Are you hiding something from me? Speak!"
The last word was spoken with considerable force.
Lance sighed and pleaded for Deanna, "If I tell you, please don't take it out on Deanna. She acted out of extreme hatred."
Gunner looked at him but didn't immediately agree.
"Tell me what happened first. I'll decide after hearing it."
"Eula was captured. I hadn't told Deanna because she wasn't well. When I saw she was getting better, I told her. Deanna probably wanted revenge. After hearing the news, she went to the pharmacy. I don't know what she concocted. By dawn, she called me. When I got there, she was already unwell."
Lance briefly explained the situation.
Gunner's face darkened after hearing it.
Although Lance didn't specify what Deanna made, as her master and one of the doctors who had previously treated Old Ashley, he knew exactly what Deanna had made. Anger surged within him.
Deanna was being reckless.
"If you knew what she was up to, why didn't you stop her?"
Gunner glared at Lance angrily.
Lance knew he was at fault and didn't argue.
He did know but had thought Deanna was making some kind of punishment potion for Eula. He hadn't expected it to be something else entirely.
While Gunner was reprimanding him, the emergency room door opened from inside.
Doctors and nurses wheeled Deanna out.
Lance and Gunner immediately gathered around with concern. "Doctor, how is my fiancée?"
"Is my student alright?"
The doctor removed his mask and said truthfully, "The toxins have been cleared from her body, and the baby is safe. But she needs to rest in bed for the next month. If she weakens again, the baby won't survive."
Hearing this, both Gunner and Lance looked serious.
They followed the nurses as they moved Deanna to a ward.
Once settled in, Gunner warned Lance, "I know you spoil Deanna, but sometimes you need to consider the situation. I don't want this to happen again. For the next month, take good care of her. Tell her that revenge can wait. Nothing is more important than her health and the baby!"
