Chapter 1218: Attitude and Confidence

For the next two days, Julia stayed at Deanna's house, refusing to see Lionel. Lionel was anxious and helpless. He tried to plead with Deanna to help him, but she refused. Deanna knew Julia was deliberately making Lionel anxious to teach him a lesson, so she wouldn't interfere with her plan.

After another two days, Julia finally left Deanna's house, and Lionel finally saw her.

"Julia, I'm sorry for making you suffer," Lionel apologized regretfully as soon as they met.

Julia looked at his slightly thinner face. Her originally cold demeanor softened a bit. "You know I suffered? If you don't want to marry me, just tell me earlier. I may not have many virtues, but I do have self-awareness."

"Who said I don't want to marry you? I dream of marrying you," Lionel quickly defended himself and explained the situation he hadn't had a chance to before. "I didn't know my parents would do such things. Originally, we agreed to discuss the marriage with your parents, but they went against it. I've already talked to them; they won't interfere with our marriage anymore. Once your parents return, we'll finalize the wedding plans."

Hearing this, Julia's heart softened, but she couldn't help but retort, "You agreed because of the things Deanna and Mr. Mercer gave me?"

Lionel was silent for two seconds before admitting, "I won't deny that my parents are greedy. They not only covet what Deanna and Mr. Mercer gave you but also your relationship with them. But I've made a pact with them. Those things are yours since Deanna and Mr. Mercer gave them to you. They can't take them from you under any pretext, or I'll divorce you. Our future children will stay with you, and all my assets will be yours. This is the contract; take a look. If there's no problem, sign it."

Lionel took out a contract from his briefcase. Julia was stunned. She hadn't expected Lionel to handle the matter so decisively.

She glanced at the contract but didn't take it. Instead, she looked at Lionel and raised an eyebrow, "Are you serious? If your parents try to take my property, you'll divorce me?"

"Of course not," Lionel understood Julia's underlying meaning and smiled. "If I didn't say that, my parents would definitely covet your belongings. Even if Deanna and Mr. Mercer said those things couldn't be transferred, they'd find other ways to get them."

Hearing his considerate words, Julia's resentment finally disappeared completely. "Smart move. I won't sign this contract. With Deanna around, if you dare bully me, she won't stand by."

Seeing her proud demeanor, Lionel couldn't help but laugh. He also believed in what Julia said. Considering the gifts Deanna gave Julia, he knew how much Deanna cared for her.

However...

"Deanna protecting you is her attitude. This contract is mine; it's my assurance and confidence for you, so it can't be dismissed," Lionel insisted on Julia signing the contract.

Unable to argue with him, Julia eventually agreed.

That afternoon, Deanna learned from Julia that they had reconciled. She was particularly surprised when Julia mentioned the contract. "I didn't expect Lionel to go this far; it's rare."

"Hmph, I forgave him because of his attitude; otherwise, it would take him much longer to win me over," Julia said proudly, though her tone was filled with undeniable sweetness.

Deanna smiled and didn't dwell on it further. "It's good that you've reconciled. Now we just have to wait for your parents to return and finalize everything. Once that's done, we can plan the wedding date properly. By the way, I've sent your measurements to Lance's aunt for the dress design. When the sample is ready, I'll show it to you. If you have any ideas, let me know, and I'll ask her to make adjustments."

"Wow, I get to wear a wedding dress designed by Master Amy! It's all thanks to you. I love you so much; being friends with you is the best decision ever," Julia exclaimed excitedly over the phone.

Deanna disagreed slightly and softly said while holding her phone, "I'm the lucky one to be friends with you."

Those years, if it weren't for Julia's constant companionship and help, she and Gregory and Chloe and her grandmother might not have survived.

Now that she had the ability, she naturally wanted to repay Julia, even if Julia didn't need it. Because Julia deserved it!

Meanwhile, in the president's office of Mercer Group.

Xavier walked in with a serious expression.
