Chapter 223: PART 2-36 - BABY, NO!
-VANCE’S POV-
A thin smile curled my lips to see him being the usual hot-blooded Gamma that he was. Instead of thinking of himself, Blayne was coercing me into another battle. Contrarily, I preferred to fix the rift between me and my Luna. There was no anger or burning sensation in the link of the mate bond, but it did not mean that she was not still upset with me.
“No.” I finally answered him. “We killed their king and generals. The Supernatural Triad Council’s gatekeepers are searching for Squiggles.” I deciphered. “The werelions will be humbled by their loss and the drastic reduction in their population. It will take years before they wage war against us. It is at that time that my generation will eliminate them.”
“All planned out, huh?” Blayne scowled with disappointment. Even with his limp, he managed to keep up with me.
“Yep.” I dictated as we made it to the top and sniffed the air. My eyes narrowed slightly as my face wrinkled up. “You smell cheesy, Blayne. Take a few days off. You deserve it.”
He groaned with the utmost reluctance and I ignored him. Then he raised his arms to smell himself and crinkled his nose.
When we passed the warriors, they split into groups and went back to their initial stations. We shifted into our wolves and arrived at the hospital. The transformation was painful for Blayne as his injured body reshaped, stretching the blistered skin which tore in some areas.
“I’m fine,” he tried to reassure me when he completely took his human form. Although the agitated skin bled.
We found clothes at the nearest tree and donned shorts and T-shirts. I sighed and decided not to look at him again. I raked a hand through my black locks to unruffle them and proceeded to the building. He was not far behind me.
Sianna and Kurtis, yes, that brute Kurtis that I utterly despised, were deep in discussion at the main reception desk on the first floor. Jealousy and umbrage sprouted roots in my gut. The growl that I released vibrated in the hallway.
The hospital staff froze in their operations, paralyzed with fright. When they saw the person that my lethal emeralds pinpointed, they bowed in respect and slowly resumed their tasks.
Kurtis cringed. His umber eyes flitted with fear, but he was wise to stay put than to flee. Since running would prove there was something to feel guilty about, and I would not hesitate to wipe his blood on the white hospital floor.
Possessively, I walked up to my beautiful baby, snaked my hand around her waist, and poked a finger at his chest that sent him stumbling backwards.
“Um, Alpha Vance.” He bared his neck and his breathing was far from steady.
Rancid fear drenched the doctor, yet he did not know better than to stay away from my woman. It angered my wolf. His fury roared in my mind.
“Go!” I grated, deadly, and fear-inducing. My nostrils flared and he scurried away.
“Darling,” Sianna turned around to place her hands on my chest with a heartfelt smile that reached her icy-blue eyes.
Being the sucker that I was for her, the molten rage cooled and hardened into desire. Something else was growing hard too as I reveled in the sensual way she caressed my chest.
“Are they gone?” She inquired about the merfolks.
I nodded, fully dazed by her beautiful face. Her plump lips parted like she was summoning me to kiss them. Her black wavy hair cascaded down her shoulders.
She breathed out, “Thank goddess.”
She was about to hug me when Kurtis yelled out from the hallway a few feet from us, “Dr. Luna, I’ve figured out a treatment!” He waved a folder in the air.
A fresh surge of rage rose in me like a hurricane. Fists clenched, tendons tensed and I moved to go after him, giving my wolf the chance to surface.
“Baby, no!” Sianna pulled me back to deny my wolf the privilege of turning the black hair doctor into play food.
I did not want to hurt her in the process, so I pushed my wolf back and stopped. I hissed at her, “Fire that fucker, Sianna.” A low growl rumbled on my chest.
To placate me, she seized my lips into a long passionate kiss that made me forget about the entire world. Gripping her body tighter, I pressed her closer to me. Her hands snaked my neck.
Mate. Mine. My wolf purred.
Euphoria seized all my emotions. She was so intoxicating. No words were needed. The kiss said it all. I plunged my tongue into her mouth.
Electricity from her touch sent tingling warmth all over my body. It was the typical overload from the mate bond. It only left me craving for more. I poured out all the desire that I had to restrain last night. Then the kiss felt like it wasn’t enough. I wanted more.
“Eh-hem,” Blayne interrupted while digging into his right earhole with a finger. “I’d like my toe to be attached today.” He held up the body part on display.
The repulsive vision of his scalding toe had me breaking the kiss. It doused the heat of my arousal and made my cock go instantly flaccid.
I glanced at Blayne’s smiling face as he scratched the back of his neck, like he had been nervously waiting, but giving me time with my mate.
I cupped Sianna’s nape and kissed her forehead before gravely requesting, “Baby, please fix up my Gamma.”
Sianna gave Blayne a sympathetic glance. “Honey, I’ll see you later,” she told me, and I winked at her before she dragged him by the hand into a medical room. I knew that she would disinfect those hands after touching him.
With a boyish grin, I nodded. She did not sound angry at all. And that made me happy. My emeralds glowed brightly with my wolf’s presence.
Tonight should be good. In fact, she looked divine in her white lab coat over denim pants and plain white top and heels. Absolutely gorgeous. With the salacious green flag up, I could not wait to go home later to get more of her kisses.
Although, I want her to stay away from Kurtis. Why won’t she listen to me?
