Chapter 13 ~Being his girl~

Chapter 13 ~Being his girl~
Fiona's POV

I still think about the things Vivienne told me. I can't help but be mad at Xander. And I know it sounds hypocritical, being that I was doing the same thing.

To me, it's not the fact that he was using me for some curse or whatever, it was him not bothering to tell me.

Somehow it took me back to my time at Ashridge with Beckett, and like I promised myself, this would be the last time I'd get broken like this.

Even if it means me killing my growing feelings for him.

I woke up broken again by him, his mother, and, in fact, this whole pack. But I really needed to be in school today. I'd already missed so many days.

I'd just bury myself in my books today.

I dressed in a plain tee and jeans and walked out of the villa through the private road, planning to get a cab afterwards.

My legs were already hurting.

His white Mustang drove past and stopped a few meters from me.

The same person I was avoiding walked out towards me. Xander Theon Grayson, looking so handsome and apologetically cute.

“Hey Luna, don't tell me you plan to walk all the way to Northvale High.”

I decided not to forgive him. Yet.
But I entered the car because my legs were hurting from walking.

We pulled up to the parking lot and stepped out.

There were a lot of students outside, and they were surprised to see us together. I could make out their whispering thanks to my wolf senses.

“Wait a minute… that's not Nova.”

“Is Xander Theon Grayson dating another girl?”

“Is she a new student? A transfer student?”

I almost chuckled at the last statement. Crazy of them to think I was a new student when I'd been in Northvale for almost two years now.

I guess I was a wallpaper. But now, I'm suddenly visible. Ah.. the Xander effect!

I'm still mad at him, though.

We walked through the hallways, his hand over my shoulders.

Now that the bond had strengthened my wolf senses, I could make out the scent of werewolves more strongly.

I could sniff them in the air. Wait… so that meant that werewolves attended Northvale too.

I could make out some rogues too, and boy… they didn't seem so pleased to see us together.

They can tell that Xander and you have bonded, and that makes you both stronger Rhia, my wolf spoke.

Makes sense.

Xander kissed my cheeks in the glare of the onlookers. “I'll see you after school?”

He walked off for his classes.

During the lunch period, I went to the bathroom for a bit. As I was coming out, I almost bumped into Nova.

I gasped. “Sorry.”

This was my first time talking to her.

“Watch it doofus.” She sneered at me.

I scoffed angrily. Just who did she think she was referring to? “Excuse you?”

She glared at me. “No. Excuse you. Because you are a sorry excuse for a replacement.”

Oh, so this was about Xander. “It's not my fault you couldn't keep him, Nova.”

“You think you've won, but I'm sure he didn't tell you th..”

“That what? He initially chose you. The contract was originally yours.” I cut her off. I was so tired of people using that line on me. “Well, that's why ‘was’ and ‘chose’ is past tense.”

Her cheeks flared up. She was furious.

“Baby, you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. Watch me wreck you.” She said, her voice dripping with malice.

I waited until she left before I let my confident facade fall. My hands and body shook with tremors.

I hated confrontations.

Years of being bullied had taught me one thing: fake confidence, because no one but you can tell the difference.

I walked into the cafeteria before Nova had the chance to come back and finish what she'd started. Or worse, Cassia would meet me there.

It wasn't such a bright idea, because immediately I walked into the lunchroom, everyone began looking at me and began gossiping.

Well, I guess this was what came with being Xander's mate.

From the looks I could make out, some were in awe, some raw, unbridled envy.

You can have him, girls. Just kidding…

I had to sit alone eating my lunch, because Xander had practice and Cassia, well…

I made a mental note to beg Yara, my beta and new friend, to transfer to Northvale.

Apparently, she attended Evercrest High, the same school that we had beaten in the last hockey playoffs. I knew because I heard Calvin teasing her about it.

I was almost done with my lunch. I made a mental note to visit my stepdad and mom before going to the pack house.

This was what I was still thinking about when a group of cheerleader girls ambushed me from nowhere.

Initially, I thought they came to fight, but no… they all wore plastic smiles on their plastic faces.

“Hey babes.” One of them, I think she was called Brenda, said, smiling at me.

Babes?

“Hi,” I said, smiling back awkwardly.

“I heard you’re Xander's new girlfriend. That's so cool.”

“Thanks.” I guess…

“Anyway, I'm Brianna, this is Jasmin and Frances.”

Oh, so it's ‘Brianna’ not Brenda. The other two girls waved at me nicely. I was still wondering what they were doing here and why they were talking to me.

“I'm hosting a super cool party tonight at my penthouse. I came to invite you… and also, by extension, your boyfriend, Xander.”

Ah, I see what's going on. And no, I was not one for high school drama.

“Well, I'm sorry, but we'll both be very busy tonight. Maybe next time?” It was only after the sentence left my mouth that I realised how everything was just wrong with that statement.

They smiled suggestively, and I just cringed... internally, of course.

Jasmin spoke next. “Everyone knows that these hockey guys never have a second sex with the same girl… but I love that you were able to bag one.”

I almost choked on air. What?!

“Anyway, Toddles. And P.S. If you ever need to join the cheerleading squad, just let us know. Any friend..oops..girlfriend of Xander is a friend of ours as well.”

They all stood up, robotically, as if programmed, at the same time. “Bye, babes, we'll keep in touch.”

Then they walked out, heels clicking, leaving me thinking: what the hell have I gotten myself into?

I was walking out of the cafeteria to go for my last class of the day when a tall jock with long hair walked up to me.

“Hi beautiful.”

I ignored him and kept on walking to my class.

That was when the unbelievable happened. In the full glare of the students, this boy groped my ass.

I turned about to confront him when a heavy punch landed on his face, sending him spiraling backwards.
