Chapter 99: The Fog Part 1
Freya’s P.O.V
“Cameron!” I whispered urgently, looking around the room wide eyed to see if anyone had witnessed our exchange right then. Thankfully, everyone was minding their own business and I was officially safe from further embarrassment.
“Yes?” Cameron grinned down at me unashamed.
I swatted his hand away from my lips and swallowed the bite of egg that I had taken previously. “You seriously have no remorse!” I glared at him.
“Not when it comes to you.” His smile stayed the same. “Happy eighteenth birthday.”
Frowning, I looked towards the wall where there was a large wooden clock to see that it was only eight thirty in the evening. “There’s still time.”
“I know. I just wanted to be the first person to wish you.”
That statement alone had my heart melting all over again. “Thank you.”
“Now finish up,” he said, pointing to the plate of food. “The party is just getting started. I don’t think we’re having dinner any time soon.”
Following Cameron’s instructions, I ate a couple more devilled eggs and a couple fried cheese sticks. Since I didn’t drink alcohol, I drank the glass of juice that Cameron had gotten me earlier.
“I can’t have any more. I’m full.” I announced, handing Cameron the rest of my plate that still had three more cheese sticks.
He gave me a narrowed eyed look but I shook my head with I glare of my own. I couldn’t fit in another morsel even if he forced it down my throat. Grumpily, he helped me finish off the rest of the plate before handing the empty plate to a passing waiter.
“Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.” I told Cameron with a smile as I watched the pack members interact with each other happily.
“Yeah, birthdays are all celebrated like this.” Cameron took my hand. “Come on, we need to introduce you to the witches before the main event.”
“Ah! Maggie mentioned something about witches too earlier.” I remembered.
“They’re here to try and break your seal.” Cameron led me to the other side of the room where I had spotted the women before. Sarah and Darcia were already there with them.
“Freya, this is Aria and Sanaya Frazer, from the Amethyst coven.” Sarah introduced me to the two women standing in front of us. “They’re going to be the one to help you with the seal.”
It was hard to tell if they were siblings or twins. Both of them looked incredibly similar to the other, however, Aria just seemed younger. She and Sanaya both had cock-screw curls down to their lower back and wore beautiful white gowns that had some floral embroidery down the middle. Their skin was the color or raw honey and both of them also had dark brown eyes.
“Hello, Freya.” Aria came forward to shake my hand. “It’s nice to finally meet you. Your Alpha was right though…I don’t feel any witch power from you at all. The seal must be very strong indeed. Can you show us where it is?”
“Err…at the back of my head?” It came out more as a question. “Sorry, I just…I didn’t even know I had a seal. I don’t know how that even came into being. I feel human.”
“Well, the seal must have been placed right after your birth.” Sanaya confirmed what Maggie had told us before. “It’s going be a tough one to crack but we’ll try our best.”
“Thank you.” I gave them a nervous smile.
“Why don’t you enjoy the party for now,” Cameron intersected. “We’ll discuss the magical stuff after twelve.”
“Sounds good.” The witches nodded and went back to chat with another two women who were standing up against a wall.
The music began to play softly as people cleared a spot right at the middle of the floor to create a dancing area. Darcia immediately led Sarah to the centre of it as a few more couples joined in to accompany them.
“Wanna dance?” Cameron urged me. “I promise I won’t let you fall.”
“I usually have two left feet, but I’ll be trusting you on this.” I held onto Cameron’s hand tightly as we headed to the dance floor.
True to his word, Cameron held onto me securely, making sure I didn’t trip on my dress or step on his shoe. It was so easy dancing with him and I was having more fun than I could have imagined. Gliding across the floor in his arms, Cameron lifted me up easily and spun me around before putting me back down on my feet. It made me relax instantly, making laughter bubble from my lips as I let go of all my worries and my nervousness and let the music take control over my body.
