Chapter 20: The Wolf’s Anger

Cameron’s P.O.V

For a second, the shock of it had me frozen…until my wolf came to roaring life.

“You bastard!” A shout tore through me, sounding more like a growl than my human voice as I ran towards the two of them and ripped the leech off of Freya with my fingers around his neck.

Mr. Agnes tried to pry my hand off of his neck, but I tossed him aside onto the floor. However, the leech didn’t make the mistake of staying for a fight. The instant he hit the ground, he scrambled on to his hands and knees and crawled out of the classroom, before breaking into a run as soon as he was back on his feet.

I grit my teeth, wanting to follow him, to bash in his skull…but then I remembered that Freya was still in the room, and from the frantic beat of her heart…she was scared.

My wolf howled inside my head, urging me to go to Freya first. Its claws and fangs extended when I tried to go against my wolf’s orders. I found that I couldn’t leave her alone, not like this. As for Mr. Agnes, I was a predator for a reason. I could let him run, but once I start to hunt, there would be no place where he can hide from me.

Turning to face her, I found her looking up at me through eyes as wide as saucers, afraid of what she just witnesses. So I approached her with caution, like I would any wounded animal.

“It’s fine…he’s gone.” I held up my hands in front of me, to show her that I didn’t mean any harm. But still, I saw her flinch back. I stopped immediately.

The way she flinched away from me…it made my wolf lay down its head on a whimper. My wolf was angry that she got hurt…but it was also hurt by her rejection.

What was going on? Was she really…

“Cam?” Sarah’s voice came from the doorway as she ran inside the classroom. Without waiting for me to answer, she was running towards Freya and kneeling down beside her to pull her into her arms.

“Damnit, Cameron!” Sarah snapped at me, her green eyes sparking fire. “I told you to hurry, didn’t I?”

But Sarah’s words didn’t have much effect on me. What had me stunned was the fact that Freya, who had flinched away from me only a few seconds ago, now welcomed Sarah’s embrace without effort as she clutched onto her cardigan. Sarah hugged her back tightly, running her hands up and down her back in comfort.

The sound of my wolf growling inside my head had me surprised. Was my wolf seriously jealous of Sarah now? This was ridiculous! I refused to believe it!

Turning away from the two girls, I headed out the doorway and instantly, started following the scent that belonged to that slime of a human scum who had just tried to force himself on a student.

I began running after the scent, worried that he might have run off the premises, but fortunately, I followed his scent to the parking lot, to find him fumbling with his car keys as he tried to open the door with trembling fingers. Fucker actually though he could get away with it?

My vision turned red as I saw him looking around to make sure no one would notice him. He was trying to get away without any consequences and I didn’t want that happening. Striding across the parking lot with long, fast steps, I reached him in a matter of seconds and before he could react, I hauled him to face me with a grip on his collar.

I had the pleasure of watching the color drain off of Mr. Agnes’s face as his eyes turned huge. “C-c-c—Ca-Cameron…?” He stuttered out, trembling like a leaf. Good.

He was about to hurt Freya. I saw her tremble like this only a few minutes earlier. He deserved to suffer as well, if not more for hurting an innocent woman.

“Mr. Agnes.” I gave him my most cunning smile. “What’s the hurry? We haven’t had any time to chat yet.”

“C-c-chat?” He gave me a weak smile, but I heard his heart hammering in his chest, threatening to burst out. “W-what d-d-o you n-need t-to ask? T-t-tom-orrow…a-at cl-ass?”

I gave a short bark of laughter that erased the smile from his face completely. “Mr. Agnes…are you really that naïve? There won’t be any class for you from tomorrow onwards. You’ll come to school, of course…but to hand in your resignation. And then you’ll make sure that I never see you in town ever again. Do I make myself clear?”

“O-or…what?” Mr. Agnes stuttered out, seemingly trying to regain his spine. “N-no one sa-saw anything! You ca-can’t m-make me do anything!”

“Really?” I slammed my free hand on his car then, making the glass in the windows produce fine cracks as the whole car shook from the force. “Of course, I won’t make you do anything. You leave quietly and never hurt a woman again, and I wouldn’t have to do anything at all. But if I ever find you trying to threaten another woman…then you’ll be encouraging me to hunt you down, make you run for your life…before I rip out your guts out with my bare hands and strangle you with it.” I let my wolf in my eyes then, turning them into a deep golden as the voice of the alpha seeped into my tone. “The intestines act as the perfect ropes…I’ve heard.”

I let go of the car and stepped back with a smirk, as I found him releasing the contents of his bladder onto his pants. As soon as I was a couple feet away, Mr. Agnes all but dashed inside his car and turning on the ignition, sped away from the parking lot as if he had a wolf on his tail.

He had. And if he didn’t do exactly as I told him to…this wolf was going to make very good on his promise.

Because mate or not, the human scumbag had just tried to take advantage of a helpless girl and no one was allowed to do that. Human or otherwise.
