Chapter 133: THE TURNING TIDE
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
The battle had been raging for hours.
I was in my black wolf form, massive and powerful, leading the charge through the narrow pass. My paws pounded the blood-soaked earth as I tore through rogue after rogue. Their bodies flew aside like broken twigs when my claws struck. The air was thick with the smell of blood, sweat, and fear. Howls and screams filled the battlefield. Steel clashed against steel. Wolves crashed into each other in violent bursts of fur and fangs.
My pack was holding the line, but we were outnumbered. Kael and Kieran had brought thousands rogues from every dark corner, plus warriors from allied Alphas who had joined their cause. They fought dirty, using tricks and ambushes, trying to break our formation. I roared as I slammed into a group of three rogues trying to flank my left side. My jaws closed around one’s throat and tore it out in a spray of blood. The other two fell back, but more kept coming.
Through the chaos, I saw him Kael. He was in his grey wolf form, fighting ruthlessly near the center of their lines. His fangs were red with the blood of my warriors. Rage surged through me like fire. I pushed forward, tearing a path toward him. My black fur was matted with blood some mine, some theirs. Every step was a fight. A rogue leaped at my side. I twisted and crushed his skull with my jaws before he could land.
“Kael!” I roared through the bond, even though I knew he couldn’t hear it. “Come face me!”
But Kieran’s forces cut me off. The one-eyed rogue leader appeared with a fresh wave of fighters. He howled commands, directing them to block my path. I snarled and charged anyway, slamming into the wall of bodies. Claws raked my side. Teeth sank into my shoulder. Pain flared hot, but I kept moving, driven by pure fury. Blood, howls, and the sound of clashing steel filled the air around me. My warriors fought bravely beside me, but I could feel them tiring. We were holding the pass, but barely.
I needed to reach Kael. I needed to end this.
LUNA LEENA POV (At the Safe Caves)
Deep inside the protected inner caves, I paced back and forth, my hand resting protectively over my rounded belly. The sounds of battle were distant but constant, faint howls and roars carried on the wind. I could feel everything through the mate bond. Every wound Damian took. Every moment of exhaustion. Every surge of rage as he fought to protect us.
My heart ached with fear. I wanted to be out there with him. I wanted to fight beside my mate. But I had promised to stay. I had to protect our children and the unborn pup growing inside me.
The triplets sat close together on a blanket, watching me with wide eyes. They were trying to be brave, but I could see the fear on their small faces. Elara’s hands were clenched in her lap. Ryker kept glancing toward the cave entrance. Thorne sat quietly, his expression serious beyond his years.
“Mummy,” Elara said softly, “Daddy is fighting hard… I can feel him.”
Her golden eyes glowed faintly for a moment. A small wave of warm light pulsed from her, reaching toward me through the bond. It gave me a burst of strength, but it also made my fear sharper. My mate was out there, bleeding for us.
I knelt down and pulled all three of them into my arms. “He is strong,” I whispered, kissing their heads. “Your father is the strongest Alpha I know. He will come back to us.”
But even as I said the words, I felt another flash of pain through the bond. Damian had been hurt again. I gasped softly and held the children tighter, trying not to let them see my tears.
Ryker looked up at me. “We can help him, Mummy. Our eyes… They glow when we’re together. Maybe we can send him our power.”
I smiled through my worry and nodded. “Let’s try. Hold hands.”
The three of them linked their small hands. Their golden eyes began to glow brighter. A warm, pure light filled the cave. I placed my hands over theirs and closed my eyes, pushing my love and strength through the mate bond toward Damian.
Hold on, my love, I thought desperately. We are with you.
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
A wave of warmth suddenly flooded through me. The pain in my side eased. My muscles felt stronger. I knew instantly, it was them. Leena and our children. Their love and power reached me across the distance.
I roared with renewed energy and broke through Kieran’s line. My black wolf form slammed into rogues left and right. Blood sprayed as I tore through them. A rogue leaped at my left flank. I twisted mid-stride and crushed his throat with my jaws before he could land. Another came from behind. I kicked out hard, sending him flying into the rocks. Pain flared across my side where claws had raked me earlier, but I refused to slow down. I roared and pushed forward, tearing a path through the enemy lines.
Kael eyes meet mine across the room, and will glare at each other with hatred.
His grey wolf was larger than most, moving with ruthless efficiency. He tore through my warriors, blood dripping from his fangs. Our eyes met across the battlefield. A surge of pure rage flooded my body. This was the man who had betrayed us. The man who had helped kidnap my children. The man who had caused Leena so much pain.
I roared and charged straight toward him, smashing through anyone who tried to block my path. A rogue Alpha tried to cut me off. I slammed into him with my full weight, sending him crashing to the ground. I didn’t stop. I kept running, my paws pounding the blood-soaked earth.
Kael saw me coming. He howled in challenge and broke through his own front line to meet me. We collided like two storms.
Our bodies crashed together in a brutal explosion of fur and fangs. We rolled across the ground, claws slashing, jaws snapping. I felt his teeth sink into my shoulder. Pain exploded through me, but I refused to fall. I twisted and raked my claws down his side, drawing deep lines of blood. He snarled and kicked me off. We circled each other, breathing hard, blood dripping from both of us.
“You look tired, Damian,” Kael taunted through the wolf link, his voice dripping with mockery. “How does it feel knowing your precious Leena is carrying another pup while you bleed out here? Maybe I’ll take her after I kill you. Raise that child as my own.”
Rage blinded me for a second. I lunged at him again. Our wolves clashed violently. We bit and tore at each other, rolling across the dirt. His claws raked my ribs. I felt hot blood running down my side. But I kept fighting. I remembered Leena’s voice in my mind soft and loving. I remembered our children’s laughter. I remembered the night we bonded to push Gotham out.
That love surged through me like fire.
My power flared. I roared and slammed into Kael with everything I had. My jaws closed around his neck, not deep enough to kill, but strong enough to shake him violently. I threw him hard across the battlefield. He crashed into a group of his own rogues, tumbling over them.
For a moment, he looked stunned. He got up slowly, blood dripping from his neck, and retreated a few steps, glaring at me with hatred.
But before I could press the advantage, Kieran appeared. The one-eyed rogue leader charged in with fresh reinforcements. He carried a strange dark artifact in his jaws a cursed blade glowing with black energy, something clearly stolen from the Veilwood. He dropped it and shifted, grabbing the weapon in his human hand.
Kieran smiled cruelly and swung the blade toward me. Dark energy exploded from it, slamming into my chest like a hammer. My wolf form staggered. Pain unlike anything I had ever felt coursed through my body. It felt like my soul was being torn apart. My legs buckled. I collapsed to the ground, breathing hard, blood pooling beneath me.
Kael recovered and walked forward, standing over me with a triumphant smirk. His grey wolf loomed large, fangs bared.
“This is the end, Damian,” he growled. “You should have stayed away.”
He raised his claws for the killing blow.
I lay on the ground, badly injured, vision blurring, but I refused to close my eyes. In my heart, I whispered one final promise.
Leena… I love you. Protect our children.
The battlefield seemed to slow down. Kael’s claws came down.
……..
THIRD PERSON POV
The battle at the border raged on, but a smaller, stealthier force had already slipped through the chaos. A group of Kael and Kieran’s elite rogues twenty hardened fighters had circled around the main conflict under cover of the thick forest. Their mission was clear: find Luna Leena and capture her. Kieran had promised them riches and power if they brought the pregnant Luna back alive.
They moved silently through the trees, avoiding the main roads. When they reached the outer walls of the pack, they struck fast. The few guards stationed there were taken by surprise. Swords flashed in the moonlight. Howls of pain cut through the night. Within minutes, the outer defenses fell. The rogues poured into the pack grounds like shadows.
Panic spread quickly. Ordinary wolves, farmers, mothers, and elders tried to fight back with whatever they could find: pitchforks, kitchen knives, bare hands. But they were no match for trained killers. Screams filled the streets as people ran for safety. The rogues cut down anyone who stood in their way, moving relentlessly toward the palace.
Inside the royal chambers, the few remaining guards formed a desperate line. They knew what the invaders wanted. They fought bravely, but one by one they fell. Blood stained the marble floors. The last guard, a veteran, roared as he swung his sword, taking two rogues down with him before a blade pierced his chest.
Only one guard remained a sixteen-year-old boy named Finn, barely old enough to hold a sword. He stood trembling, his blade shaking in his hands. The rogues surrounded him. Their leader, a scarred man with a cruel grin, pressed a sword to the boy’s throat.
“Where is the Luna?” he growled. “Tell us her hideout and we might let you live.”
Finn’s eyes filled with tears. He thought of his own mother and little sister hiding somewhere in the pack. He didn’t want to die. He didn’t want to betray his Luna either. But the sword pressed harder against his skin.
“I… I know where she is,” he whispered, voice breaking. “Please… don’t kill me.”
The rogues laughed. They spared the boy, but bound his hands and forced him to lead the way. Finn walked with tears streaming down his face, the rogues close behind him, swords ready.
Deep inside the protected inner caves, Leena paced anxiously. She could feel Damian through the mate bond every wound, every moment of exhaustion, every surge of pain as he fought on the battlefield. Her hand rested on her rounded belly, protecting the new life growing inside her. The triplets sat close together, holding hands. Their golden eyes glowed faintly as they tried to send their power to their father.
“Mummy, Daddy is hurting,” Elara said softly, tears in her eyes. “But we are helping him. Can you feel it?”
Leena nodded, her own eyes wet. “Yes, my loves. Keep pushing. Send him all your love. He needs us.”
They closed their eyes and focused. A warm golden light filled the cave. Leena joined them, placing her hands over theirs. She poured every bit of her strength, every memory of love for Damian, into the bond. For a moment, she felt his power surge. He was still fighting. Still holding on.
Then the sound of running footsteps echoed from the cave entrance.
Finn burst into the inner chamber first, tears streaming down his face. Behind him came the rogues, swords drawn, eyes hungry.
“I am so sorry, my Luna!” Finn cried, dropping to his knees. “They made me bring them here. I didn’t want to. Please forgive me!”
Chaos erupted. The few guards left in the cave drew their weapons and charged the rogues. Steel clashed. Howls of pain filled the chamber. Leena didn’t hesitate. She grabbed her children’s hands.
“Run!” she shouted. “Everyone, run deeper into the caves!”
With the villagers and remaining guards, Leena and the children fled further into the twisting cave system. The rogues fought through the defenders and gave chase. Leena ran as fast as she could, holding Elara in her arms while Ryker and Thorne ran beside her. Her belly made it harder, but fear gave her strength.
They burst out of a hidden cave exit into the dense jungle behind the palace. Trees surrounded them. The moonlight barely pierced the thick canopy. They kept running, branches whipping at their faces, roots tripping their feet. The sound of the rogues crashing through the undergrowth grew closer behind them.
“Keep going!” Leena urged, breathing hard. “Don’t stop!”
The children’s golden eyes glowed faintly, giving them a small burst of speed and courage. But Leena could feel Damian weakening again through the bond. She pushed more power toward him even as she ran
for her life.
The rogues were gaining. The chase continued deep into the dark jungle, the fate of the pack hanging in the balance.
