Chapter 32 Alpha Logan’s Love letters and Prophecy to Chichi.
Grandma Chichi wedded a werewolf?!
My head spun.
Wait? If she wedded a werewolf, then that means Alpha Logan is my grandfather.
What does that make me?!
I dropped the portrait and shot away from it like it had caught fire.
My head spun. What just happened? What did I see?!
I stumbled backwards, knocking over a vase that stirred and collapsed to the floor, shattering.
Oops.
Grandma ChiChi had warned me not to go near that vase. Seeing the vase shattered on the floor brought uncontrollable tears to my eyes. I fell on my knees and wept.
I wept for Grandma Chichi. I missed her so much.
The breeze blew through the hills, raising the dust and papers in the room. I wiped my tears, and my eyes settled on a piece of paper in the midst of the rumbles of the vase.
I immediately reached out to the paper, dusting it carefully.
Was it just a paper in the vase? What's in the paper? I wondered.
The paper had a seal that hadn't been broken. On it was written “Alpha Logan: to my fated mate and Luna: Chichi. This letter is sealed with my blood. Heads have rolled to secure it. I can only trust this with you, my love. Secure it till the day you die.”
Chichi never mentioned anything about her husband or even her association with a werewolf.
She was always…human.
My grip lingered on the sealed paper. I wasn't sure if I was meant to read a private conversation between Chichi and Logan. But I wanted to. I wanted to get to the bottom of this confusion.
I came here to seek answers; I can't return confused.
Chichi is dead, and I'm her only next of kin. If there's anyone to be reading this letter, it's me.
I tore open the seal and saw three letters. I opened the first and read it out loud.
“Dear Chichi.
My love,
It kills me to be separated from you. But with the Civil War going on, we have to be separated. You can do well to disguise yourself as a human in the human kingdom while I set some order to our wandering packs.
I heard the human kingdom has been peaceful lately. I know they will be hostile towards a werewolf like you, that's why I disguised you with my magic potion. You will not be affected by the urges of the full moon till you die. Keep me in your prayers, my love, for I might die in these battles.
Logan.”
I swallowed. Grandma Chichi was indeed a werewolf. She must have been so heartbroken. To read these letters.
I tore open the second and read.
“Dear Chichi
My Love.
I have uncovered a conspiracy. The packs of the south have formed an alliance against ours. We have been betrayed by our own.
I wrote to you in a hurry, knowing I might never touch an ink pen again. Before I go, I will leave you with the secret that has begun this war. The secret of the prophecy was given a thousand years ago. The secret that will end this war for good.
I can't trust anyone but you, Chichi. I am surrounded by conspirators. Keep this secret to the very last day of your life!
When you read this, I will be dead.
Logan”
Tears rolled down my face.
What secret?
My hands linger on the third letter labeled THE SECRET
My hands trembled. Was this the reason for Grandma Chichi’s pain and her husband's death? This little letter started a war?
Carefully, I tore it open and read.
“THE AGE-OLD PROPHECY WRITTEN IN THE BLUE MOON. DEATH, BIRTH, AND BLOOD HOLDS IT TRUE.
Behold, a strong and mighty Alpha shall emerge from the Human kingdom. An Alpha with the blood moon secrets and powers. And Alpha, which has the power of destruction and life. He will end all wars for good.
The one who takes his head, takes all his powers.”
That was it?
I turned the paper around to see if there was something else I had missed. This can't be the project that could start a full-blown war and cost lives.
What does it even mean?
A strong and mighty Alpha from the human kingdom?
That can't be possible or else…
Gasp!
It can't be.
No, no, no.
It can't!
I looked at the writings again, and somehow it felt like a flood of revelations washed through my mind.
I read it out loud. “A strong and mighty Alpha from the human kingdom…That has to be Daevir!” I screeched out loud.
Daevir is the one who became a werewolf overnight despite being born to a human father and mother. This has got to be Daevir!
Oh Daevir. If only you knew.
The thought crossed my mind.
I was here to find a solution to Daevir's problems; now I am seeing his destiny.
It doesn't make much sense, but I'm not meant to find a solution to cure Daevir’s wolf. I'm meant to lead him on that path.
It says here that whoever kills him will inherit his power. I can't imagine such powers falling into the hands of a monster like Theron!
I held the letter to my chest.
Daevir had to know this. I have to let him know.
He mustn’t fight his urges; he mustn't hate himself. This is who he is, and he could save us all.
I looked around the dusty room. The longer I linger, the more Daevir's life might be in danger. The more he might hate himself.
I might not be able to return to the palace now, but I could trail him to the battle.
Yes, he told me to stay away from him.
He warned me.
But I can't leave him. Not when this isn't about me or my desires. This isn't even about him. It's about the empire. Our world, our villages.
My eyes settled on the letter again. No one must find out this secret. If Grandma Chichi could keep it safe. I must keep it safe!
How?!
Oh, I know…
I could take it to the palace…
Yes!
I'll take it to the palace and hand it to Zephyr. If Daevir trusts Zephyr with his life, so could I.
Quickly, I tucked the letter in my bosom and sprang to the door.
Just as soon as I held the doorknob, a sense of dread washed over me. I froze.
There was someone right at the door. I could feel his presence so strong, so dreadful. My hands shook, yet I couldn't move them to open the door.
I couldn't escape.
Silence settled in the house. A dreadful silence.
And then, the doorknob moved.
The door opened, revealing a tall, muscular man with icy blue eyes that shook me to my core.
No…this is no man…
He stepped in, towering over me like he could squash me with his fingers.
“Hello, Amarien,” he said, his eyes taking in the room.
“W w who are you?!” My lips managed to move.
His lips curving into a smirk. “I guess the legends haven't done me enough justice.” He leaned in. “Let me give you a clue.” His gravelly voice brushed my ears. “Legends say…” he leaned into my ears, “he is a shadowy omen left by the Blood Moon Witch marked for the destruction of the human race.”
I froze
My knee buckled
OMG…
It's Alpha Theron!
