Chapter 119: Bought Me Lingerie

It took every drop of my power and self-control not to beg him to touch me. I wasn't hearing what he was saying. All I could hear was his whispering voice that sent shivers through my body, and his touch that burned my skin.

I closed my eyes and breathed deeply, trying to think.

This man ruined my life. He had just killed a man moments ago, and he would continue killing...

He didn't have a heart, even if he claimed otherwise.

'You are strong, Mila,' I told myself. 'You. Are. Strong. This is just momentary pleasure. Don't fall for it.'

I just hoped Levi wouldn't find out the truth about what happened in the restaurant. When we called afterward, he said he would travel to Germany for his trial regarding divorcing his wife.

I opened my eyes with determination and met Luca's dark gaze. He noticed the shift in me and smirked.

"You impress me more every day, Mila," he teased, holding my chin.

I shoved his hand away and walked to the bed where the shopping bags still rested.

I was determined to show him that if he was strong enough to see me naked and simply walk away, then I was just as strong.

My cheeks flushed when I grabbed the underwear set from the box. It was red, chiffon, and more suitable for seducing a man than for everyday wear.

I opened the second one. The same.

The third. The fourth... all the same.

"Do you like them?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous this time. "I chose them for you one by one." He slowly caressed my arm.

I dodged slightly.

"I'm sure the size is correct," he whispered. "If you want, I can help you try them on."

I pushed him, but he didn't move an inch. "Stay away!" I snapped.

He didn't resist. He raised his hands in surrender, a side smile curling on his lips, then walked toward the sofa.

I took a deep breath.

I picked the pink one.

Luca whistled. "Great choice."

I rolled my eyes, then threw the towel onto the bed.

"Ekhh," he murmured. I could feel his eyes on me.

I hated that I was so aware of him, feeling him, even when he didn't lie a finger on my skin.

I put on the set of lingerie and totally ignored him.

I was surprised he bought the same style of clothes I usually wore.

I picked a black shirt and jeans. I didn't even consider one of the fabulous dresses in the shopping bags.

He stayed silent, too silent, as I dried my hair and put on light makeup.

Just watching every move I made.

Once I was done, I heard his footsteps behind me. Our eyes met in the mirror.

He smiled.

He grabbed his phone, dialed someone, then said, "Make the new guards leave. We're coming."

Still looking at him through the mirror, I asked, "Who was the man you killed?"

"One of the best squads in the state," he said, his eyes cold. "I hired him to secure this villa. You're the most wanted woman dead in the USA right now."

My lips parted as my eyes widened slightly.

"What do you think, kitten? Taking a weapons deal with the Russian Bratva is easy and simple? People in Cosa Nostra already hated you because of your mother's dark history."

I blinked. Something sharp pierced my throat. This was the first time Luca had mentioned my mother...

And somehow, I didn't like it.

"She was a whore walking on this earth," he added coldly. "She crawled her way to the top by licking men's boots, fck them, then kill them. She was the demon himself."

I slapped him.

The sound echoed through the room. He smiled an evil smile.

"Fck you!" I hissed, my chest rising and falling rapidly as I struggled to steady my breathing.

"Yeah, fck me," he said, his voice low. "Fck me because I'm the only ally you have left. The only one still enduring the shit you keep doing."

My eyes reddened, but I refused to let a single tear escape.

My breathing became heavy as my throat dried painfully.

He reached toward me and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear, but I pushed his hand away.

"But you're still the kitten I swore to protect the moment she appeared at our doorstep as a four-year-old girl."

I met his gaze but didn't say anything.

"Come on," he said. "Your brothers are waiting."

We went back to the office.

I was taken aback when I saw the guns and the shooting board inside the room.

Luca walked straight toward the shooting board.

"It took you too long," Ricardo teased. "What were you both doing? Did dressing take all this time?"

Marco nudged him with his elbow.

"What?" Ricardo snapped, acting innocent. "I'm just curious."

Luca slapped the back of Ricardo's neck. "What we do is not for boys," he said, his lips curving slightly.

My cheeks flushed.

Ricardo rubbed the back of his neck dramatically. "Come on, brother. You don't have to be mean."

Luca ignored him and looked at me. "Take it." He handed me a pistol.

I stared at the pistol in his hand for a second before taking it.

The cold metal settled against my palm with dangerous familiarity.

"Today we will teach you how to be a real Mafia, Milla Russetti," he whispered.
